We need more skill choices

I've been playing since the open betas on PC. I've respecced all of my characters a hundred times it seems trying to find that perfect build that works for me. My coworkers (who used to play) used to laugh at the amount of coin I dropped respeccing. Truth is I always felt so limited on the skills that were available to me. I told them that same thing during the betas and it almost kept me from purchasing the game though I did end up with the collectors ed with the Molag Bal statue haha. Anyway, I'm an old school gamer. I came from the UO days and played them all. I always preferred the EQs with their plethora of classes, hell even WoW's classes had a ton of abilities within them. Sure my hotbar was bloated like a pig but I enjoyed all of the reactive abilities and the fluff and buff/debuff abilities. Now I know this is an Elder scrolls game, and I know these games were more about skill lines vs. classes so if that's the case I'd love to have more skill lines. I mean we're over 2 years into this MMO and though some of these abilities have been modified and on occasions wrecked in some instances, we still have the same o same o. I mean it's bad enough that half of your skills that are available to you are voided depending on your choice of stamina or magica. So for something that was once a game defining play as you want when hybrids were viable (was it 1.6 that killed em?) has now dissolved into half are available. I'd liek to see some or all of the following to happen, hopefully soon, before the boredom drives me away.
1. Give us new skill lines like necromancy, nature based, ice magic, illusion, creature summoning (elementals?), animal companions, spears and/or polearms, crossbows, and I'm sure others have other options. Hell, a lot of these skills are already in game and used by NPCs..
2. Creates a 3 or 4th morph of the exisiting skills we already have to choose from. Give each class an additional spam attack ability so we can choose. I don't know about some of you guys but I can only spam jabs so much (and I love spears), flame whip, and crystal frag. It starts getting old.
3. I can only dream but revert back to the days where hybris were truly viable and we didnt have this all stamina all magica stat dump for max leet damage stuff. It stifles the creativity IMO.

I know we've had posts like this in the past and we will continue to have them in future. If we don't keep the fires lit that we as players want this we have no one to blame when we never get additional game enhancing additions. I'm sure I'll hear the tired ole they need to fix the game first. I've heard that from the oldest days of MMOs and guess what..they're never truly "fixed" to anyone's liking. Thanks for reading.

    Wall aside, I agree.

This game needs more variety. When everyone is advertising their "builds" that all use the same (or almost exactly the same) skills, that isn't variety, that means that the skill/class design is such that only a certain set of skills is useful.

ESO is definitely not "play how you want," rather it's more here are some weapons and armor types, have fun. That sounds good on paper, but when everyone is geared, everyone ends up being almost carbon copies of each other depending on the role they want.

Far too easy to see players using the same builds, the same armor, the same skills, etc. Boring, tbh.

    I agree as well.

I am starting to run into players that tell me my non-standard build is unacceptable for their groups...

I think the idea of "max one stat" is horrible. I enjoyed games when they didn't do that. EQ2 and SWoTOR both "simplified" their stats to main and health. Gone are the days of using agility to modify criticals and strength to modify damage, no matter what one's class. I think LotRO might still have a complicated stat system...

I would love just to see the class lines broken up a bit, even some of the weapon lines. I would love to have a class that doesn't use magics in the skills, at all. I would love to see a pet class, or priests, or paladins, or berserkers... I can kinda make builds that do that, kinda.

My mantra, that seems to be ignored, and may not even be popular, is options, options, options. Too bad things like that are expensive and companies do not want to invest in them.

My take on that topic is the sae as it has been for a while... YES, we need more skills to diversify our character options! Like...

101 ways to cook an egg, but only over easy for leveling and over hard for end game, pvp is more like scrambled.

Im the one, who had problem with that too. Think about this: once you reach lets say level 40, everything will start to get old - your weapon, your learned skills, even if you really like the chosen class/weapon, you have no real choice how to change it. at level 50 you maxed all skills, so if you wish to continue to cps levels, you need to take different armor and weapon to have atleast something to level up.

So if every class would have more than 5 skills with 2 morphs, not just it would be more variable, but also you would have something to level up in your favourite class/weapon choice.

I posted an example of LOTRO class of guardian in a thread about taunting, because he is a true tank and even with only shield/1h weapon or t-h weapon set (no fancy skills of ESO classes) you still get around 20 unique skills to use, with really cool animations and hard hitting shield bashes - not as hard as t-h, but still better than what you can see in ESO. so if you compare weapon skills for shield and weapon in ESO - you will have 5 unique skills, that can be boring very soon, but if you would have more of those unique skills, it would be more cool not only to look at, but also to level up.

I did not read you post, too long, just the title, but yes, it would be nice, if every skill would have at least 3 morphs and if every skill line would have more skills to level up

Another game that had some very cool abilities was Daoc. Like Lotro that Mandragora was talking about, Daoc had abilities that were able to be used in a reactionary way. On my reaver and blademaster it was thrilling to hear that block or parry sound and then hit a cool looking counter ability. As a melee class it made the combat feel more alive in my opinion. With 5 abilities per bar could they pull it off (waste a spot for a reactionary)in ESO? I don't know...but it sure would add some excitement.
