What's wrong with skill progression?

I have a templar who's been beyond level 50 for a long time (I play several characters) and has been using puncturing strikes from the first moment yet his Aedric Spear is only 46 whereas his 2 other templar skills are maxed. The strange thing is I've resorted to using several training equipment pieces, played through the main quest scaled to CP 160, ran through Orsinium twice, public dungeons, world bosses (Gold Coast included), etc, etc. and yet the bar barely moves. It only went up 1 bar from 45 through all these things that I've mentioned.

I have a similar thing going on with my Sorcerer whom I've played longer and have been predominantly using a restoration staff since level 15 yet his restoration staff skill is only 47.

Does the skill progression slow after the CP 160 mark?

Slot more skills from the same skill line to make the process faster.

    This.

Have 2-3 skills plus the ultimate and it'll fly up. Maybe do some high xp quests like orsinium dailies, undaunted random, pledges and swig a psygic ambrosia before you hand in.

Could be a bug. Contact a GM.

I've wondered about this myself. I've had the first two Dawn's Wrath abilities on my bar since I got them and I only got Radiant destruction when I was near level 50. Yet I've seen (thanks to nerf RD threads) death recaps in PvP where people as low as level 10 were using it.

I've always been baffled by this.

Xp scroll, ambrosia, multiple training, improved training to green or blue, multiple skills on the bar when you turn in a high value quest, run this while also enlightened...

Using just enlightened, multiple skills and blue training I hit max level on templar skills with spare time before level 50 to also max out a half dozen other skill lines. The thing is to be aware of how you are grinding the levels and being disciplined in your plan.

The earliest you can radiant destruction is mid lvl 20's no lvl 10 can get it because the company required would level you up too much

Think it has alot to do with the loss of vet lvls.

Easy to grind to 50 but your skills aren't fully lvld like they were when you had to get to vet 16, your missing another 15 lvls of grinding skill progression.

I have the skill and ultimate slotted on both bars but the thing that doesn't make sense is why the 2 other templar skill lines are maxed and Aedric isn't yet that's the one I've had earliest and the only skill that occupies both ability bars.
