Thoughts on the continuation of new cp caps

Honestly I don't know how I feel about raising the cp cap again so soon. I know a lot of people have well over the cap and are looking forward to it. However I, as well as a lot of people aren't even at 501, let alone 531 or 561. This would create a larger imbalance between players. I like the CP system because it allows people to customize their builds, however if we keep adding more and more to the cap, ultimately it would end up with all the useful stars maxed out. The idea is supposed to customize your build to the smallest degree, but if they keep raising the cap all the CPs will look almost exactly the same, not to mention make it harder and harder for casual players to grind to max them out.

What would be a good place for the CP cap to stop at and what are y'alls opinions on this?

You do know that every time they raise they cap, they also increase the catch up mechanism. It is extremely easy to get CP.

I don't mind power imbalance between newer players and those who have played a lot. Your point about everyone eventually having all useful CP trees maxed out is a good one though. A good solution in my mind would have to somehow leave the work players did to grind CPs intact. I don't have a good idea of how to do that.

    currently at cp 302

one day i may get to the cap or i may not

either way i am enjoying playing the game. don't really care about caps on anything provided the game remains fun to play.

It would literally take years for the CPs to hit the cap of 1200 per tree if they raise it 51 per quarter...which they doubled back on and skipped on DLC and only raised it 30 the next. So if CPs capping out are not an issue, then really your only issue is that you will fail to catch up. I have had buddies start the game after the catch up mechanism was introduced, and they are getting close to 500CP. Do the random daily with an XP pot active; use up your enlightenment; play a few hours per week minimum - you will catch up quickly.

    There is no issue here

I'm at 470 right now. The difference between me and a fully cap player honestly isn't that big. I pvp a lot and I'm more than able to beat them. My biggest issue is eventually they'll have to cap it permanently. But will that be when all the stars are maxed? Just the useful ones? or when would a good amount arise that would allow the builds to still have some sacrifice in choosing which stars to put them in and still allow much newer people to eventually catch up. (I am in no way suggesting making it so easy as to make the grinding and time put in by older players for nothing.)

there are a few unknowables in this.... how long will the game last?

will something else emerge that will take over from cp?

will there be a complete revamp in two or three years that goes back to levels and remove cp so its all on attributes and gear?

    idk.... what happens happens

enjoy it now for what it is.

They can raise the cp cap forever IMO so long as they don't raise the gear cap.

Technically they were supposed to raise the cap every update but they didn't ever since setting it to 501 so in a sense they, too, are "catching up".

My hope is that they figure out additions to the Champion system that will give us places to use those cp even when other parts are maxed out.

I think the CP cap should continue to go up by 30 for each update at a min.

This makes sense. I also hope that one day CP ranked gear is completely removed somewhat.
I want gear to have tiers but not CP so that we can make gear using any mat for visual differences but may requirements would scale based on availability so that certain zones are for certain materials instead of one tier being the end all.

Just adds variety to the game.

I'm at 474 CP so I'm hoping I can get to 531 before it's raised again (whether I manage it or not is another question). As the cap is raised the catch up mechanism means CP's can be gained quicker so as long as the cap isn't being raised faster than most people can get CP's it's not a problem. Eventually people will get to the point where they've got all the CP's they want and it becomes even less of an issue, when the cap is raised in the future that allows a stamina based character to put CP's into reducing the magicka cost of skills I don't think anyone is going to care if they're not at the new cap or not

you must be in very small guilds and don't go around much. There are a lot that are not at cap

basically 10cp per month wont break the game especially given diminishing returns for higher scores.

Just hit cp 666 on my main account today...

Sitting on about 300+ on my second...

I have just as much fun playing on both ;)

If you aren't having fun, then it really doesn't matter what the cap is...your playing the wrong game.

It's not about reaching cap or not. It's about how much more will they raise it before cp becomes useless and all the useful stars are maxed out?

Why people always complaining, i hate such threads with major update it should be increased. Its only increasing by 31 CP and still 2 months ahead (console)..

Instead of leveling up, such threads are being created by lazy bones..

@Lord_Dexter you should reread it again. I have more than a lot of cp and it's about balance issues instead of being lazy.
