Maelstrom Weapons Color?

Hello,
Is there any reason as to why Maelstrom weapons appear opaque with kind of an "unpainted" and "unfinished" look?
Is the perception I have after seeing that any other Dwemer stuff you come across in the game is shiny with a golden look like centurions, spiders, automatons, gear, etc.
This one's art work, but with a great color combination.
