I haven't played for a long time and looking to come back...one question though !!!
are the expansions really worth getting?
if so whats the best method ie via EOL plus or buy via crowns

im going to be starting a new character so will be going through the original game so not sure if the DLC is worth getting at this point

Advice would really be appreciated

If you are going through the original zones and doing main story you don't need any DLC at this point. Start your character, play on and when you feel that you are done with the content you have, take a look at the options to get DLC(s) (buy in crown store or subscribe).

    Happy playing :)

Or maybe wait for the gold edition, it will be out soon - it comes with a palomino horse and the first 4 DLCs included.

This said, I think that the original edition and ESO+ membership is the better choice - because of the crafting bag, DLC access for all DLCs as well in the furture and free costume dye abilities. I think subscription is totally worth it due to that.

In addition to what was already said, it also depends on what content you like to do. If you like having a zone to explore, the Wrothgar DLC is probably for you, while Imperial City is more PvP focused. Both Hew's Bane and the Gold Coast have heavily stealth-based quests for their main story which may or may not be to your preference.

    Depends what your into:

    Imperial City: pve/pvp mash up.
    Orsinium: Solo play/Exploration
Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood: Solo Sneaky Stuff.
Shadow of the Hist: Group dungeons.

That's the basic rundown of the DLC's, so just grab whichever your into and leave the rest.

Or as one of earlier posts said, just wait for the gold pack and get them all at once at cut price.

One of the things I like about this game is that your not heavily punished if you choose not to buy the DLC. Unlike in Destiny, if you don't get the DLC in Destiny, you get left behind, you don't reach top level, whereas in ESO, it really doesn't affect your game in the grand scheme of things, it's what DLC's should be, just extra optional stuff for you to do.

Also keep in mind you get 1500 crowns each month you pay for a sub. When you pay. So if you are trying to get the most bang for you buck but dont really plan on spending anymore. You can sub which gives you instant access and then pay for the dlcs with your monthly crowns. When you are done or caught up. Drop the sub. This also allows you to try before you buy. It is fairly flexible.

ESO+ for a month and try them all. You will save money in the end.

Orsinium is the best value with the crafting and grinding you can do there.
Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are a once off - no need to ever go back after completing the story.
Imperial City is literally the worst DLC ever released in MMO history.

    IMO OFC.

Gold Edition is probably the best value deal if your coming back to the game and want a full new account, but you probs dont.

Orsinium is by far the best DLC of the bunch. The arena may be *** (And still is) but the singleplayer content is solid and I cannot suggest it enough. (But you best do that arena if you wanna maximize DPS potential. Otherwise, save your sanity. Not worth.)

Thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood are great if you enjoy playing nightblades, thief characters, and criminals. The thief farm (AKA, selling stolen items to the daily limit) with the thieves guild DLC became pretty damn lucrative and is pretty much my main source of income. Dark Brotherhood if you really friggin' hate NPC's but otherwise it's great to maximize theif farm profits.

Imperial city, is PVP. If you like PVP, and how they did questing and PVP in Cyro, you'll like this. If you dont, and your reeeeeeally into dungeons, I personaly got it for the two dungeons but that's 20 bucks for two dungeons and that's a hard sell.

...But a worse sell than that is shadows of the hist, dungeons that, at the time of writing, have just come out, people are very bad at, have some really -wacky- and wonky mechanics that alot of people including me think need reballancing, and, the kicker? It's 25 bucks. For two dungeons. With questionable ballance right now. The price is wrong bob.

    Hope that helped you.
