doing a random dungeon with a new chr and have a player tell you what to do!!!

XxLone_WolfxX402
Has anyone had the problem before where you were levelling a new chr to VR16 (and yes I am old school and still say VR16 xD) and you have that one player in the group, sometimes not always telling you the mechanics of the boss and what you should do etc, knowing that you have done this dungeon many a time and you are level 49 and on the second boss you level and that player who is VR14 told you about the mechanics etc is looking at what you are doing and then immediately you level up and boom CP 501(or VR16) and then you hear nothing from that guy for the rest of the dungeon. Has this happened to anyone and/or what are everyone thoughts on this topic? this has not happened to me always only on occasions ;)

LOL I've never actually hit 50 while in a dungeon but that sounds hilarious. I have definitely experienced the "you're only level 43 / vr2 / whatever noob" attitude.

I certainly don't miss getting kicked from dungeon finder groups because I am "only" vr2, even though I'm at CP cap and in on-level purple gear with the scaling mechanic giving me more resources than the v16 who thinks he knows everything.

I just ask if everyone has done the Dungeon before. If so, we are good to go. If not, I discuss things with the group. Even then, if we have all done it, someone might have some new ideas.

I would rather have people trying to help in a group, even if I have heard it before, than be in one of those groups where no one talks to anyone else.

Sounds to me like he was trying to be helpful, to be a good guide and mentor on your way up the ladder, and to be a solid group member by practicing good communication. Plainly, by not even bothering to correct his misunderstanding, you showed you were part of that group of players that isn't actually into being a solid group member by practicing good communication.

Perhaps you should reflect on yourself a bit.

My only question is, when did old school mean like a couple months ago?

but clearly if I needed help on a boss specifically on a mechanic I would ask someone that knew the boss its the fact that you get people who think they know everything and when they see a level 49 or lower they think that you are a new player or not know anything about that dungeon. I am not saying don't communicate but perhaps think and not automatically think that the player you are playing with is a newbie which in fact he is not.

You could just say "thanks, I've done this before" instead of making some half assed complaint or whatever.

I did have a group of VR2's explain to me how my VR16 healer wasn't a real healer. They changed their tune after nobody died in the first mob fight of the dungeon. I later learned I was the 4th healer they got in group finder, and the 4th that was a Dragonknight, but the first that actually did healing for anyone but myself.

You meet all kinds of people in dungeons. I do try not to dismiss people's suggestions if they are actually trying to be helpful. I don't want to be like that dps we had in veteran Banished Cells that one time who got upset when we tried to suggest ways to deal with mechanics and yet was still losing health after the boss was dead because he hadn't purged the red OR the blue so both DoTs were still ticking away. :D I don't know everything, so there is always something to learn, even if it's just a new method. And if it doesn't work, then I learned that, too.

Snooty superiority disguised as being "helpful" is another matter entirely, though.

yes I know it only changed to CP a couple of months ago but I still believe that when looking for a group at all its easier just to acept CP 501 is the same as VR16 and its easier to write then when I see in chat so many times CP 201 being left alone only to be replaced and or chosen by a CP501, but they are both the same rank VR16 so why leave that person that CP 201 and pick that CP 501 player?

I'd much rather have somebody telling me *** I already know than go through an entire dungeon where the only thing anyone ever said in group chat was me saying, "Hey, guys!" before we got started. You made the choice not to communicate, and you made the choice to interpret someone trying to make sure everyone knows what they need to know as insulting, so I have a hard time sympathizing.

"Anyone a first timer in here?" is the only thing you have to ask in a dungeon with someone who isn't CP160+
