Plainly, by not even bothering to correct his misunderstanding, you showed you were part of that group of players that isn't actually into being a solid group member by practicing good communication.
Perhaps you should reflect on yourself a bit.

Has this happened to anyone and/or what are everyone thoughts on this topic? this has not happened to me always only on occasions

but clearly if I needed help on a boss specifically on a mechanic I would ask someone that knew the boss its the fact that you get people who think they know everything and when they see a level 49 or lower they think that you are a new player or not know anything about that dungeon. I am not saying don't communicate but perhaps think and not automatically think that the player you are playing with is a newbie which in fact he is not.

I'd much rather have somebody telling me *** I already know than go through an entire dungeon where the only thing anyone ever said in group chat was me saying, "Hey, guys!" before we got started. You made the choice not to communicate, and you made the choice to interpret someone trying to make sure everyone knows what they need to know as insulting, so I have a hard time sympathizing.
I just ask if everyone has done the Dungeon before. If so, we are good to go. If not, I discuss things with the group. Even then, if we have all done it, someone might have some new ideas.
I would rather have people trying to help in a group, even if I have heard it before, than be in one of those groups where no one talks to anyone else.
