As Witches Festival approaching i hope there will be more of these.. I hope some sort of decorations involved, rather than just a quest/instance. (FYI I'm on console so i have yet tested out this festival on the PTS).
  • On Halloween the weather could be dark and spooky and keep-guards in Cyrodiil could wear skeleton costumes. And maybe fight off small skeleton armies spawning across Tamriel, just like the mini anchors. Dropping Halloween themed loot such as potions and other goodies.
  • On Christmas we could have snow falling in each Alliance main city as well as in Cyrodiil. Main cities could be decorated. Main cities could have minor events like Snowball fighting. I mean why not?

I believe this would add so much to ESO and the community within the game. Holidays in real life is all about bringing people together. For participating in the holiday event/quests you could receive a costume, or a special cool weapon motif, or a small pet.
  • Have unique holiday potions, food and drinks be either special rewards or rare drops.

I think this would be a lot of fun. Especially since they have tons of Holiday's in Tamriel. New Life Festival, Day of Lights, Festival of Blades, The (In)Famous Jester's Day etc. All of these could be incorporated in some way. I am not asking to go all out turning Grathwood into Santas workshop. But minor decorations, change of weather, unique rewards for login and participating.. Not too much to ask for? :) Let me know what you think and what you would want to see if this was going to happen!

(Hopefully this works as i've had problems posting discussions on here before from iOS devices.)

Seems like a whole hell of a lot of work on ZOS end. I don't see much happening with holiday/festivals. Adding in free things only goes so far. You're asking for a costume change for every guard in tamriel and to spawn skeleton battles near major towns?

Great ideas and would be cool to see but we all know it'll be a rather simple event.

Not asking, they are ideas lol. But yeah i'm sure it'll never happen. I feel like Zenimax rather care about quick cash money from Crown Store as we saw today with Token prices than having a strong community of players and some sort of "together-ness".

I am NOT opposed to festivals, quite the opposite really.

But I prefer something smaller and that feels "natural". Make NPCs celebrate the festival too, for example.

As for snowing for a Christmas event, (Saturalia, Old Life/New Life festivals)... I see no problem with snowing, as long as it is in places where it makes sense to snow. Ideally, for an appropriated period of time, too. I mean, I'm pretty sure Skywatch wouldn't get much snow or for a long period of time, unlike maybe Shornhelm. Surely the best thing would be if the game had seasons, but I'm aware that would be asking waaaaay too much.

Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.

Has to be ESO lore based & not real world.

Christmas? Is there a equivalent? And something that can be referenced & not just shoe-horned in to meet some people's demands. As an pagan atheist I would have a huge problem with anything based on any religious festivals IRL.

I suspected you were a former GW player by the title (Winters Day), hehe.

This kind of stuff works very well in a game like GW2. They have Charr with their big industry and the Asura with their magic-crystal-rainbow tech, and the playable characters are not at war with one another. They have a central hub (Lion's Arch), along with one major city for each race. Or at least that's how it was until I left, just before the expansion pack dropped.

But something like that would have to be severely toned down for TES, as we don't have the same freedom with magi-tech and peace between nations to do this kind of stuff. Nothing wrong with decorating some major towns, though. Even better if the decorations are very different depending on where which town is (and depending on the festival, maybe some towns could even be left out entirely because that race that controls that town does not celebrate it). I would like everything to be kept as close as possible to the lore. You know, feeling I am really in a city during a festival and not playing a game during a festival?

As a raised Pagan myself i have nothing against a Witches Festival. Let's not go all political correct lol. Christmas is originally a pagan holiday, Saturnalia, that other religions later adopted and made it theirs..

But in 2016, majority of people in this world don't celebrate christmas because of religion. More to bring people together.

Why not call it 'Winter's Day' like the headline?

Seems like a whole hell of a lot of work on ZOS end. I don't see much happening with holiday/festivals. Adding in free things only goes so far. You're asking for a costume change for every guard in tamriel and to spawn skeleton battles near major towns?

Great ideas and would be cool to see but we all know it'll be a rather simple event.

f2p games like FLYFF and Aura Kingdom have holiday events hell FFXIV has holiday events that are both weatern and japanese and are back to back its more like if zos is willing to do something like this

Old Life/New Life Festivals would probably be the easier of the set to integrate; since all of Tamriel seems to start their calendar at the same time it's not likely to be region-specific. And isn't real-life Christmas Molag Bal's Summoning Day? While I'd be happy to see them do something with that, I doubt it's the sort of thing most of the playerbase would expect that time of year... >:)

Chil'a is, but not Saturalia. From UESP:

    Chil'a
    Evening Star 20th (1)
    Evening Star 24th (2)
    1. Chil'a, the blessing of the new year in the barony of Kairou, is both a sacred day and a festival. The archpriest and the baroness each consecrate the ashes of the old year in solemn ceremony, then street parades, balls, and tournaments conclude the event. In Daggerfall, this is the Summoning Day for Molag Bal.
    2. Local Iliac Bay New Year's festival on the 24th of Evening Star. It was probably moved from its original date to correspond with the notion of the year defined in Tamriel.

    Saturalia
    Evening Star 25th
The New Life festival comes a few days early in Wayrest with Saturalia, traditionally held on the 25th of Evening Star. Originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading. Visitors are encouraged to participate.

Anyway, we have plenty of lore-appropriated events. ZOS could totally get away by celebrating things like the time to plant and to harvest, the passing of seasons, or the birthday of the three leaders.
Just give me a Skaal coat, please.

Yeah, it probably shouldn't snow in the Alik'r or in Auridon or in Reaper's March. But I could see it happening in all the Skyrim zones, in Stormhaven and Glenumbra, possibly Craglorn (I've seen snow in the Mojave plenty of times, so why not?). Maybe even the highest points of Grahtwood and Malabal Tor, if it was a genuinely severe storm.

[*] On Halloween the weather could be dark and spooky and keep-guards in Cyrodiil could wear skeleton costumes. And maybe fight off small skeleton armies spawning across Tamriel, just like the mini anchors. Dropping Halloween themed loot such as potions and other goodies.

First of all, why the hell would soldiers risking their lives bother celebrating a holiday? they are fighting a war.

[*] On Christmas we could have snow falling in each Alliance main city as well as in Cyrodiil. Main cities could be decorated. Main cities could have minor events like Snowball fighting. I mean why not?

Tamriel is not North America, not every land snows around that time period, I for one live in Australia where its Hot because it's the middle of Summer during Christmas.

Not too much to ask for? :) Let me know what you think and what you would want to see if this was going to happen!

(Hopefully this works as i've had problems posting discussions on here before from iOS devices.)

This is Tamriel on Nirn - not on earth - I do not want to see any of the earthly superstition in Tamriel, especially not religious ones.
