I demand that in the description of players characters that the characters be called by their proper racial name. Currently my Altmers race is listed as High Elf in the games loading screen and the Character Sheet. This is unacceptable ZOS. For a company that decided to cleanse any sort of perceived racism from quests like the one in Stonefalls where an Argonian saves Dunmer, who balk at the idea of an Argonian helping them, I expect a better approach to racial relations in this game.

Well, considering this game's place on the TES timeline, and the status of racial relations in future games... No? The races of Tamriel spite eachother and spite begets spite. It ain't pretty but it's gritty, and that's how I like my elder scrolls. Your 'hero' might just be a cannibal that kicks puppies for fun.

You don't know much about The Elder Scrolls do you? Every Elven race goes by 2 names: Their -mer name and what that translates to.

    Altmer means High Elf
    Dunmer means Dark Elf
    Bosmer means Wood Elf
    Maormer means Sea Elf (basically)
Orsimer is what they call Orcs
    Falmer means Snow Elf

Here let me lay it out real simple for ya.

Racial names given by Humans and other races but not actually used by the respective races themselves:

    High Elf
    Dark Elf
    Wood Elf
    Sea Elf
    Orcs
    Snow Elf
    Dwarves

An Altmer is not going to call himself or another of his race High Elf. A Dunmer is not going to call himself a Dark Elf and so forth.

As for that sad attempt to insinuate that I dont know much about Elder Scrolls. Take that childish nonsense back to the hole you crawled out of.

I understand the point, but I swear I've heard a few Dunmer refer to themselves as Dark Elves. Plus, there's miss "WUT. AVINT YEW EVA SEEN A WUD EWF BEFOW" in the Mournhold crafting area. So it's not unheard of, but I guess Altmer would be the most stingy about it, hah.

Did some checking around and there are elves that refer to each other by mer names but I don't believe they ALL do to be honest. Just depends.

Well, Lore Wise, you'll find that as far back in the 2nd Age and earlier, many Mer did self-identify as elves.
It's easily visible in the number of texts from Arena and Daggerfall. Of course, this is because the lore-writers didn't come up with the whole "mer" idea until the development of Morrowind.

Same here really. In fact, I don't think I EVER see the mer names appear in normal conversation in Tamriel by ANY race. It is usually only used in scholastic terminology.

The quote in my signature is from Vicecanon Hrondar in Shadowfen, heh. They're definitely used interchangeably in game.

I think we should be allowed to enslaved the argonians and force them to shine up our shoes and magical staffs. They should be forced to work for their masters. Also they should have their tails cut off each year to serve as a main dish on a silver platter and their eggs be taken away to serve for food preservatives.

Yynril would agree with the first half of that. Though hes not sure Argonian tails would be consumable. And why eat an egg that could provide another slave?

Bathes-In-Coin on the other hand would silently fund your unfortunate end for returning his people to slavery.

If that is not troll thread, what is? A great potency for racial heat here.

The game is what it is - a game. If you translate what you do in game to life - you should seek help. We play GTA or Mafia or whatever and do you see any sane people jumping into trucks/cars slamming pedestrians after a few hours playing? No.

I think this thread should be immediately closed and OP banned from forums for a few days, to cool down.

sry didnt get your problem. the racial difference to me are quite important for the game - for all elder scrolls games - and could be used in the end like a moral compass. racial differences between the mer and men, between animal races and mer and slavery always lead into war and destruction. and in the end you are in any way in this story a neutral centrum, which grows relation to people from everywhere, so you are planned by zos as a person with higher moral standards than some npc. so what are u whining about?

Demands are technically against our community rules, however we'll leave this thread open as we believe it was meant to be tongue in cheek.

While many players, including most of those who posted here, are well versed in Tamriel's lore, most are not. This is why the "human" terminology for the varied races are used instead of their preferred names.
