So awhile back I suggested we make writs more interesting for better rewards and to bypass stupid things like lowering your crafting skills to get writs in certain zones. With the announcement of One Tamriel and the current writ situation for a lot of people (luckily not me) I wanted to suggest this again.
1) Optional Locations
So my thought is to have all cities, including expansion (DLC) zones have writ turn in locations. Allow the user to choose the zone to turn in once they have reached level 10 in the crafting. Why? we can already do this and with the 1gp per sp cost of respecing this is now a far gone conclusion of "pain" of receiving the "reward" being a requirement to do it.
This would do a few things: (1) all resources are now more farmable than before (I know my nirn farmers do not like this but again, see above current reality), (2) get around DLC zone breaks should they occur, (3) allow crafters to farm writs for any level of resources they want, (4) get rid of unnecessary hurdles that again, refer to above reality, don't fit with how things currently work and will work in the next DLC.
2) Optional crafting requirements
So I feel writs are boring as heck. It would be nice to have daily options that reward crafter investment in styles, blue-orange upgrades, traits, etc. How it would work:
Everyday you can choose to (1) comply with a style that is being requested (random), (2) to upgrade the equipment to any level you choose, (3) comply with a trait that is being requested (random). These compliance (that eventually sum to a 100% chance for full compliance for gold equipment) will (1) always guarentee you get what you put into it for a 50% chance upgrade (ie if you upgrade to blue equipment and invest 3 resources for a 100% chance to upgrade you are guarenteed to get 1 green resource, and 2 blue back no matter what), (2) a chance that increases to 100% for full trait, style and gold upgrade of requested equipment, to get the full level of resources used to upgrade your equipment (in the previous example you would get 2 green and 3 blue), (3)A chance, up to 25% that you double your guarentee based on compliance.
What does that all mean? If you gold all of the requested equipment with full compliance to the equipment requests you have a 100% chance to get everything you invested and a 25% chance (could be less just using a suggested value) to get up to 150% of the resources directly back.
In addition, the rewards you receive are automatically upgraded to the level you turn in thus giving the possibility to get at least 1 extra resource dependant on RNG and your decon skill level.
_______
tl;dr: Writs are boring, there is little reward for dedicated crafters (short of mats from surveys), and we could make it more interesting to complete writs and give alternate locations to turn them in which rewards more skill points dedicated to crafting than if you don't.
