My machine can handle Star Citizens' Alpha like a beast and then when playing ESO in Cyrodiil and now in Trials it's either the Big Bad Super Overpowered Loading Screen Boss of Death, the only boss that seems to kill me no matter how good I am at the game, or the random fps dropping to sub teens. I've asked a few people with really high end machines and they said the same thing talking about $2000 PCs and up. It's completely server side, and not your machine OP, unless you have a potato for a PC.

I got a good group, and took 3 castles, then managed to fight for Bleaker and finally got it at the end as a few zone chatters would trolling me about it. I dislike the combat in PVP since I lag so much, I got a lot of achievements for damage dealt, seiging, supporting etc...
If PVP was like it used to be, I might actually enjoy it. But ZOS has made this game far too performance heavy for my CPU to properly run it at some points. IT seems like everytime you fight someone on the enemy side the game lags, as if the mechanics of getting attacked by enemy factions caused too much of a load. Really sad to see how bad performance wise this game has gotten. I used to play PVP nearly fine on a R6 series laptop APU during laucnh lol... Now I literally freeze for nearly a minute some of the time.

Whatever you guys with high end rigs are experiencing, trust me, it runs a lot worse on low end PCs with weak CPU. Large PVP battles in ESO is a very demanding situation on client hardware, more demanding than any other game I've played recently.
I've seen youtube videos of some with i7-5820K and 980Ti getting 30-40fps in huge zergs at 1080p max settings. Thats my goal after next upgrade. I'd kill to achieve even 15-20fps under those circumstance. At least I'd be able to see what's happening on the screen.
In my case common frame rate in large battles is around 8-10fps and then when I get attacked by multiple enemy players at once, it drops below 1 frame per second (this is at 800x600 or 1280x720, no shadows, no view distance, lowest possible graphics settings). I'm sitting there waiting a few seconds to find out if I'm still alive.
In other situations (outside Cyrodiil or on low pop campaign), I get around 50fps. Imperial City is much better even on Trueflame, whether due to less players or some other reason, consistently around 30-40fps.

The 1080m in laptops coming out soon should fly.
This game has gone up 2 direct X versions as a base requirement. Don't expect a PC that play the game only OK to last for very long.

PS4.. or a NEO?
XBox.. or a Scorpio?
I'd go for a PC and upgrade individual components when needed and be able to run add-ons (and suffer with Cheat Engine cheaters :P )

You need a haswell or Skylark core, how about that?

4690k is a Haswell, high end one from the i5 range too, and in gaming Skylake or Haswell has no significant difference whatsoever. Benchmarking shows only 5% increase at best, sometimes not even that. The main difference between Skylake and Haswell is that Skylake supports up to 64GB of ram whereas Haswell only 32GB, that's about it, neither which affects gaming in any way as there is no game in existence that uses near that much RAM. It is something that content creators, 3d image/video makers will only benefit from, not gamers.
