I agree PS4 purchase is disappointing I'm thinking of leaving after only 2 weeks

I leveled each class to level 6 and my nightblade to level 8 so i could figure out what I liked better. I wanted to take a look at all the skills and get a beginning feel for the playstyle.

I love the sorcerer, templar and Nightblade nearly equally. I love the open world concept and finding lockboxes scattered around. I loved lockpicking, fishing and seeing so many other players.

PLEASE NOTE: I wanted to love this game so bad or I would never of spent money on it. I even bought 1500 extra crowns to buy a mount and see how it felt.

Here is what I am disappointed in so far: Twice yesterday I picked up quests that got bugged and I could not complete them. Both times I had to abandon the quests and retake them. This is highly frustrating when I had already ran all over the place doing the long chain, only to not be able to finish it. I had to re-run around the whole area repeating stuff I had just done.
Then this morning I did a few quests and on the 4rd or 4th one I got bugged again and had to log out and back in. Luckily the logging worked and I didn't have to abandon it like the others.

Next, I can't stand the fact that i can't even see something as simple as my food buffs. How hard would it be to add a simple buff timer to the game? I'd like to see exactly how much time is left on the poison on me or the food I ate, etc.

I also don't like the fact that there is no chat on console. I realize they are gonna come out with it, but will there be a lot of bug problems when it does?

Another thing is the selling of goods that you find around the world. Boy there is a learning curve for noob's like myself especially coming from other MMO's where there is a general auction house. I mean the first thing I looked for in the game was an auction house so I could see how much some things I was finding sold for. You start finding wood, ore, etc. and when I asked if it was worth anything the response I got from everyone was it depends, join a trading guild if you wanna find out.

Trading guilds are a bit confusing as well. From what i gather there are multiple guilds out there and they all have their own vendors or whatever. So if I want to find a decent level 20 weapon I could end up spending a lot of time shopping around the different zones and vendors?

Wouldn't it be so much easier to have a world auction house? I mean every other MMO has one and they are amazing! As a lowbie if I need a bit of gold I can list some of the stuff I find and hope someone buys it. Then I can afford a few upgrades to help me level. They could put an AH in every major city easily.

Another thing I wish the game had was more unique NPC's or mobs throughout the world. It would be cool as heck to be just riding along and BAM see some named mob that is hard to beat but might drop something really good for me if I can beat him. I realize these named mobs draw campers in other games but they could overcome that by making him spawn in random locations at random an unpredictable times. That way you'd never know what time or where he'd be and that would give you a HUGE exciting feeling if you stumbled across one while out questing.

Seems to me the only thing people really care about is PvP in all honesty. It's what 80% of posts and topics seem to be about. I thought the game had a lot more PvE content like was advertised.

I think maybe I can't blame the company for some of the stuff as I chose the PS4 platform over the PC version. I just thought that they would of thought out the whole console version before it was released. Part of me thinks they just wanted to get it on console so bad that they released a product that was really half finished and figured they would just work on it along the way. Meanwhile they are gonna lose people like me early on because it doesn't feel like a real MMO. it has some great elements don't get me wrong, it just lacks too many other features.

This game has been out on PS4 for over a year now, it should of had all the bugs fixed but instead it seems they just keep cranking out DLC's to get more and more money.
I was taken in by all the positive reviews of the game, but I realize now most of those probably came from PC users and not PS4 players.

I know no one cares but I put it down in writing so I feel better about wasting $30 on the game and another $15 in crowns, lol. I'm going to Olive Garden now to drown my disappointment in some Calamari, a glass of wine and then some garlic breadsticks and a big plate of cheesy shrimp alfredo. Then I gonna go by Dairy Queen on the way home and get the biggest rootbeer float they have. Last but not least I'll run by Gamestop and grab a copy of Infamous for PS4 and see how that plays

So not really sure how to respond.

You leveled a char up to 1/8 full power, bought a slow horse and don't like the way community sales/guilds are handled.

Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

You can see food buffs but you need to look at your "Character" screen in the menu. Also, there is far more PVE content than PvP and even more so if you add the DLC on top  I really want breads sticks now :disappointed:

You're basically the exact same character with 3 class skills at that point. You aren't really going to get a "feel" for the class until later in the game. Put investment into one character and then branch out; just focus on enjoying the game as a newbie.

What quests were you trying to do?

Actually, you can, in the character sheet. I have no idea what button opens it on PS4 but it is there, believe me. PC has addons which make the experience more fluid.
I also don't like the fact that there is no chat on console. I realize they are gonna come out with it, but will there be a lot of bug problems when it does?

We can't really tell you that...

Matter of opinion, but yes, you will need to shop around at guild kiosks for items. Your alliance's hub will have more items for sale in general, though, and you can totally go from 1-50 on scavenged/quest gear. I did. You look hideous, but you can do it.
Another thing I wish the game had was more unique NPC's or mobs throughout the world. There's world bosses that are precisely that. There's also delves, which are tiny dungeons that have a boss at the end. Then there's group dungeons, public dungeons and Trials. There's tons of unique NPCs and mobs, believe me. You've maybe seen your starter island+the first zone?
Seems to me the only thing people really care about is PvP in all honesty. It's what 80% of posts and topics seem to be about. I thought the game had a lot more PvE content like was advertised.

The game has a ton of PVE content. PVP players are more, ah, vocal. But yes, there's tons of PVE players.

I'm not going to strap you to your chair and demand you play more of the game, but you haven't really given it enough of a chance. If you're still not really feeling it by the end of the second zone (Stormhaven, Grahtwood or Deshaan depending on alliance), maybe it's time to re-evaluate it.

I didn't complain about the mount or the leveling, both of those things are quite fun. I enjoy the questing, the Guar mount is fun and was fast enough for me at my level. It's the bugged quests int he starting zones that I can't believe they haven't fixed after a year of it being out.
Yes, it is also the fact that you have to go through several hoops to be able to sell your items. I was contacted by 3 different guilds just out while questing, all 3 said they were large trading guilds one had 800 members over its main and sister guild and all 3 told me there were dues you'd have to pay to be a member. Some guy tried to explain to me that trading guilds have to bid on something and it costs them money and he also told me they take a percentage of the item I sell, so the guilds kind of seems like they just wanted to make money off lowbies or something.

I'm sure there are other guilds that might not charge I don't know, it just doesn't seem too easy for a new person with little to no gold to be able to start selling items. I enjoy commerce in most games, it gives me something to do if I have an hour to kill and I can go gather some resources and throw them up for sell to get a little extra gold.

Also the voice chat is not something I talked about on PS4 but OMG it is so annoying. People scream into the mic, you can hear people eating while playing, cursing like there is no tomorrow, etc. I was in the lowbie zone this morning and some girl is running up and asking people if they wanna go behind the building and have XXX with her in exchange for some payment. It was disgusting to say the least. I heard 2 kids screaming at each other yesterday cause one was blaming the other one for trailing a guard to him.

I had to just take my headset off it was sad.

I've played a few mmo's and this is definitely not like any of them, which is what Zos was trying to do to begin with. This game has a lot of potential and I agree, there are bugs galore, but I see Zos improving and tweeking the gameplay slowly towards a real Elder Scrolls open world experience online. If they can eventually get this game to that level this game wold be amazing. But I don't think that's going to happen with this release but that's a conversation for another time. (ESO2?). Anyways, you should atleast get your character to lvl 50 and explore all the areas before you quit the game for good. That way you get a better idea of what the game offers. I like the idea of random world events or encounters.

Options > select Character, scroll down with the Right Stick and the buffs for things like; ESO Plus, Battle Spirit, Werewolf, Vampire Stage, Food, potion buffs, Continuous Attack and skill buffs like Repentance/ Mage Light are listed there.

In the same menu there is a sub tab called 'Description' which displays how much EXP you need for the next Champion Point rank up. Which is really handy.

I appreciate that, it made me learn something but still I'd love to be able to see it in real time then have to stop and scroll down a menu to see how long my simple food buff has.

As far as the quests that were bugged I don't remember the names but if you really wanna know I'll describe them for you.

One was in the beginning where you go onto the ship down by the beach and you have to patch 2 leaks in the ship and find the captains wheel. When I went to repair the patches it would not let me. I Googled it and found it was a common bug and everyone said to abandon the quest and retake it. I tried to just log out but it didn't work and I had to abandon it and do it again.

Another one was still near the starter zone where you had to go inside a Temple and there was a female NPC following you and helping you. There were 4 bone piles that she had to do something to and while she was doing it, you had to protect her from the skeletons that popped up. The first bone pile she disappeared completely and I couldn't complete the quest. I again Googled it and found it was another common problem cause I saw lots of people asking the same question. I tried logging and that didn't work so I had to abandon it.

Then this morning I was doing one of the final quests in the area I think it was called "The Tempest Unleashed." It was the part on the beach near the end of the chain when you come back outside and have to stop the ritual at several of the little areas. You have to go up and click where the lightning is flashing to stop it and on the second one it got bugged nothing was happening. i tried moving around to different angles but nothing was working. Luckily when I logged out and back in it worked and I didn't have to abandon it.

All these took place in the staring area called Khenarthi's Roost, I think the whole area there is called that, but not sure. I know the main city there is called Mistral where the bank and a lot of vendors are located.

I'm now at the part where I have to take a boat to Auridon.

I'm gonna play it some more, I'm thinking since I'm such a low level I should stop on PS4 and get a PC copy. I was planning on buying a new gaming laptop anyway. My current one is 3 years old and starting to be pretty outdated. That's why I was hoping to find MMO love on the console.

People like you give me hope in the game, even though I have a bad attitude you are cheerful and encouraging. Thanks for the responses, I will play some more tonight, I wanted to level the Templar a little more because I am trying to decide between him and the nightblade. I love them both so far and I'm strictly PvE most of the time and I hear they bth do great in that aspect. Just can't decide if I like being more sneaky and stabby or more tanky and jabby, lol

    Can I have the wine?

If it's any help, @Deathgiggle I had this game the day it came out, but left it until last December before playing. I had my own reservations and doubts about playing, but only because I didn't really know what to expect despite the variety of reviews and contradictions. It took me a month or two before I got to grips with it, and i'm still learning. Yes, the game has bugs and issues and it can be a little bit laggy for me on occasion, and no it doesn't have some of the features from the single-player games that I really liked, but by and large it has been largely fault free. Maybe I have been lucky. Maybe you were a bit unlucky. Who knows.

As a PvE player (PvP is on hold for now), there is an awful lot of content. Maybe some of the PvP folk are more vocal because, sadly, many of the long-standing problems seem to affect them far more than others.

Text chat is coming, and I can't wait for it. I don't use voice chat for the same reasons as you, although listening to one chap being chastised by his clearly long-suffering partner to 'do more around the house' was amusing (Pete: please - do the right thing, take the rubbish once in a while, okay?)

Anyway, I hope you can give the game another chance someday. My best to you.

Ah, thanks. I've only done those quests once and didn't have issues, so I wasn't sure if it was a "worst luck in the world" thing or a console bug. In any case, if you're going to get started on PC, addons can help you a ton like I said. FTC, Foundry Tactical Combat, includes an on-screen buff tracker that will let you know durations of (de)buffs. The PC community doesn't have voice either, so you can swap text chat over to guild chat or even nothing (I have a chat tab on a character explicitly named "shut up, zone" <.<). But Cazzy's right, most of the unsavory people will be in your first and second zones.

I'm glad you're giving it a second chance! For all its flaws, I've had a ton of fun playing. It takes a bit to get into, but it might just *click* for you one day. (:

I would have been disappointed if I had got a PS4 also...

But to comment on your post: It seems like even though you had a few issues, they are at the very beginning. Some of your issues seem to be the result of expectations based on other products. Not every MMO is going to follow the same path in structure. I am quite happy with the differences. This is especially true of questing. Where other games have most of the quest content as something like this: I need 10 carpaces, and a big stick from a tree to build something. Then when you turn it it you are done. Rinse and repeat. Or to take out some creature somewhere that is troubling us. With ESO those elements are present, but there is a story behind it, with definitive structure and steps making it more immersive.

Before you drown out your frustration in another 2500 calorie dinner (over a video game) and desert, give it more time and understand that not all games are the same.
