Anyone playing hybrid stam/magicka?

I know hybrid builds (in the sense of pointing points in and pooling both damage and buffs from both resources) have sucked since 1.6, so let's leave that there. I'm interested in those few who choose to play these builds anyway. When I made my first character, being a nightblade, at release this hybrid setup was always the idea behind him and so 1.6 was a very disappointing patch for me that ultimately led me to reroll.

Now I'm keen to play my hybrid nightblade again, gimp or not, I really loved the playstyle back in the day. My character's current setup is using 7/7 heavy armour with magicka/stam split down the middle, using a combination of dual wielding and sword/shield. One advantage to this playstyle is that resource management, even without any champion points spent is a non-issue, since siphoning attacks will keep both pools full almost always when you're balancing between stam/magicka attacks (whirlwind/sap essence spam is great, for example).

Anyone doing something similar I'd be interested to hear about your builds, particularly what you've done with your champion points, as it seems very difficult to hybridise these. The mage constellation in particular makes it difficult, with the straight +physical or +magic points. The options of +light/heavy attack damage in the atronach, and thaumaturge for the +dot damage are worth considering, however, for my build at least, light/heavy attacks and dots don't really do comparable damage to physical or magic. This leads to the pull towards choosing one of physical or magic to put points in, and ending up throwing the hybridisation thing out the door. An alternative would be to put points in both physical and magic equally, eschewing the powerful bonuses from substantial point investment in a single tree.

On this issue, keeping in mind that we're electing to play a sub-optimal build here, I'd still like to optimize the overall quality of my character's build, but subject to the constraint of being balanced around stam/magicka. Hence, I'm fairly tossed up between going 1:1 mighty:elemental expert and just building melee expert for the atronach passives.

Not to focus too heavily on champion points , I'm interested in whether anyone else is choosing to play this kind of build, if you're enjoying it, how you find group play and anything stam/magicka hybrid related.

Focus on weapon damage over magic spell damage (it stacks a little easier)

5 slot Pelinal's Aptitude to have your spell damage equal your weapon damage.

Without crunching the numbers, I believe you're better off wearing 5x medium armor for the 12% weapon damage bonus. The nice thing about nightblades is that you have access to major brutality and major sorcery in 1 power (sap essence) for even more bonus damage.

I haven't had a chance to try it out for myself yet (almost have 5 pieces with 9 traits) but that is kind of the general consensus on how to make it "work"

What I've read is that it's still terrible... but that won't stop me from trying it once I can craft the gear myself.

I've been wanting a hybrid since I started back in January. I took a break then started again in June :) considering how I try to level all my attributes evenly or as close to evenly as I can, it's frustrating knowing that hybrids are near impossible
Feel free to add me. I'm part of the Gummy Guars PC/Mac NA server. Master crafter and working on getting 9 traits on everything

I tried a build stacking magicka and weapon damage with Pelinal's Aptitude, but I could ultimately only get around 10k single-target DPS. Maybe 12k if I really pushed it. That's about 65% of what I can do with a regular build.

Now maybe if Pelinal's Aptitude gave max magicka/stamina rather than regen, and also copied over crit rating, then I'd give it another shot.

The issue is that generally speaking, skills damage output is based on Max (stamina/Magicka) and weapon/spell damage.

Even if you can have 4k Weapon and Spell damage, you will never have 35k Stamina as well as 35k Magicka, therefore, either you will end up being mediocre across the board or you end up being a little bit strong in either stamina or magicka skills.
Either it won't be really competitive.

And let's say you managed to push decent numbers of Stamina AND Magicka ...
You would probably end up with with recovery problems.

Pelinal's Aptitude is just a gimmick and can't work.

I just don't see that Pelinal set being all that good. I would like it more if the set provided more raw resources over regen.

    So I like my "hybrid"

I have found the return of heavy armor works really well for hybrids.

    What I've done is:
    x2 Agility jewelry (arcane)
    x1 Agility 2H
    x3 Alchemist (on 2h bar)
    x1 Pariah jewelry (arcane)
    x4 Pariah Armor

    Dw: x2 alchemist swords

Stats are (rounded) 21k magicka 31k stamina with 1500 stam regen and 2.5k to over 3k weapon damage

At 50% health I have over max resist and in total have 27k health. After undaunted passives I feel these stats will only get better. I also plan on making x2 multiple stat enchantments for my armor. Should be getting close to 30k health 22k magicka and 32k stam.

Normally Pariah has a slight delay before the resist boost, also I heard that "hit" (such as in Wrath for heavy armor) means damage dealt to health and not just a ward. I currently use hardened ward for 5-6k (will get better) meaning something like a 14k dmg ability will hit my health for (after resist) 500 dmg. This very small damage to my health is too small to notice yet will proc wrath for sure and let my heavy armor return stats.

Alchemist provides a great dmg boost for very little cost, and built perfectly for burst, filling a need in this build.

    Serpent mundus.

    Champ Points give me:
    6% crit damage reduction
17% magicka and stamina damage reduction
    11% boost to wards
    4% healing received
    7% magicka cost reduction
    8% stamina cost reduction

10%ish (memory fading now) stam regen
10%ish (prob more) roll dodge cost reduction
    21%ish physical etc damage increase
    17%ish DoT increase
    10ish (prob less) healing done
and I think I have some points into phys penetration

Gives me a dark exchange that heals for 5k, which is a pretty good heal in PvP, it can't crit, but is right on par with blessing of restoration.

Had some really impressive results last night.

wouldnt a combination of for example red mountain armor + dunmer nightblade + pelinal kinda work?

I assume what zos should do is give 3x + spell/weapon damage (or alternatively +spell/weapn dam and + magicka/stamina) so that you could focus on other things with champion points?

Hybrids really only work well for tanking
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

Most tank buids (not all really) are more or less hybrid. But there are no efficient DPS hybrids atm.

Hybrid builds can work. They may not be competitive for PvE leaderblards and definitely aren't as good as pure magicka or stamina builds but they can work. You just have to have a good understanding of the stat mechanics and some creativity.
