We are aware of the increased latency players are experiencing in Cyrodiil. This is due to a higher population of players, and we are looking into ways to improve game performance while in this zone.

From what I have seen and heard I would only count on it getting much worse. I love PvP but play less and less every day because of the lag and other issues that are spreading like a virus all over the forums...... It is a crying shame to fall further and further behind in performance with every new addition/update ZOS puts out, or at least it seems that way.

First people complained because we had so many campaigns that they all were fairly low population so ZOS removed many campaigns and squeezed everyone into a more limited space and you're surprised that the lag has gotten worse? Sucks to be you! I'd prefer more campaigns and some breathing room over the lag we have today! EU still has 3 30 day campaigns and NA is down to 1 ONE!! Of course you have lag!

5 min after release, everyone and their pets were in the first Alliance zone, lagging the place up.

Luckily, I got my cake before the mob arrived and left Glenumbra before lagfest

I'm sure they'd like to give you an answer to your question at some point, but currently have no ETA. This should in no way be mis-construed as them saying that the answer will involve a fix.

To be honest on ps4 na I've never had any lag issues in cyrodil besides just trying to get players from the party into the zone... And that's it...

I dont know what campaign your on man but you must be the only one on that lol. I had plenty of lag on Scourge earlier today, along with reloading 2-3 times in Wayrest and Wrothgar. I have pretty good latency and have not had any problems on other games but this one.

This is probably a stupid question but I'm not a computer guy but what is causing all the lag? Is it they dont have the server capacity to handle the traffic? Is it poor coding? I just cant see why they would put out new content every three months when people are leaving the game because its pretty much annoying to play bc of lag. Seems to be a better business model to do two DLC's in the 1st year (talking console here) and fixing the latency issues to make the game run a whole lot better. I understand your trying to bring new people in with the DLC's but most of those players play for a couple of weeks then quit. Why not make your die hard fans happy first then please the novists? I love this game and I really feel like this last patch has really done a number on my patients with the reloading all the time. PLEASE FIX THE GAME 1ST! If you dont your going to lose a lot of people and get a bad reputation and lose would be new players.

What, seriously? No wonder my friends on the European PC/Mac server say that Cyrodiil doesn't lag for them since the most recent round of fixes!

How is it higher population when they have reduced campaign sizes? Is this their way of saying quit PVP? INEPT.

Have you tried Azura's Star? Whenever I go there to farm, its hardly ever laggy at all. Very smooth most of the time.

Well Cyrodiil in itself is the problem, it's basically the size of all 4 starter zones together as one giant instanced area. Your PC or console has to process every individual player, NPCs, destructible buildings, and all the interactions going on. The more players there are actively playing in it, the more work your system has to go through. It's less bad in normal zones as they're all separate instances, nowhere near as many players even at peak hours.

The easiest fix to the lag would simply break Cyrodiil into 3 separate zones. It would cut down on the lag immensely as your system no longer has to constantly process what's going on in the other two zones. It's possible to create seamless borders and connect the chat so it would still appear to be one giant zone, but there will be some noticeable discrepancies. If one zone were to crash, the other two would still be actively running; however, if you were to try to cross into the crashed zone you would get something like "instance aborted" and kicked back into the previous zone. Other problems is that highly congested zone may desync from the other two, causing some really strange capturing problems.
