Console Performance - How much longer do we need to wait?

I will continue to play ESO despite the recent patch performance epidemic, but this is still something that must be said.

The current performance on both Xbox One and PS4 is atrocious! ZOS....
Fix. Your. Game.
It's unacceptable.

Wanna run the Daily Vet Pledge?
That's great! Except... --> Unending load screen mid-dungeon. Relog. Enter again to low FPS. Enemies may or may not remain invisible for upwards of 30 seconds every mob pull. Respawn at wayshrine? Another two mid-dungeon load screens before you make it back to your group. Sound cuts everywhere and low FPS.

Heading off to Wayrest?
Say goodbye to your performance. Fluctuate between 20FPS and 5FPS. Don't ride too fast on your mount, or you may encounter more than two extra load screens.

Wanna walk in Malabal Tor as a DC character?
I know I do! Or at least I used to, before I could trigger load screens every 8 seconds or less while traveling (tested).

What else did I forget?... Hmm....
• Vet Maelstrom is a mess with lag and FPS issues.
• Trials are a mess with regards to FPS and General performance.
• People are having characters stuck in Wrothgar
• Load screens can trigger in the middle of Cyrodiil battles now
• A million other problems all based on performance issues

How can this happen ZOS? What the hell is the point in Sony/Microsoft testing out your broken patch for two weeks if it'll get released anyway? How can you have no standards whatsoever with the performance of your own game? I have never seen ESO in as rough a state as it is now on console.

So many players both new and old tried to give ESO another chance with Vet Ranks removed. They came back to an extremely unstable game where load screens shove themselves into every possible place. It is truly terrible right now.

Feel free to attach videos of the problem so ZOS won't tell us to check our routers or something. I'll post a very nice video of this very performance tomorrow which has prompted me to create this thread. PC players will probably be shocked.

EDIT: I'm late on the video. Srry! Haven't got much time to play recently and am trying to have some fun instead of recording myself in Wayrest or vMA....

Maelstrom actually performs better bar disconnects and invisible adds. But no eta apparantly it's all Microsoft and Sony fault for not letting them fix it...despite hearing minimal efforts on zos part.

I'm so glad I don't get those issues... But, I fear Wrothgar more than any Daedra or Aedra! Even combined... Wrothgar swallowed some of my characters for days... Couldn't log into them at all, instant disconnect, faster than hireling mail popping. I noticed because I was thinking, if I could at least get the mail to pop, then I could get it on a non-locked toon... But, nope, disconnect was faster every time.

I can't agree more with the original post and while I hate the use of this phrase, for consoles it now seems apropos:

Hopelessly so? I don't know, but right now it's nearly unplayable because of rampant disconnects in every zone, buggy performance in every aspect of the game, and lag, lag, lag, lag, lag! Even in Trials the lag is intolerable. I know the devs want more specific, targeted feedback, but all I can suggest is get an Xbox One and start playing. Take a tour of Wrothgar, Orsinium in particular, and tell me if that seems fun to you. Tell me that seems like a product you can be proud of. Go to a heavily populated campaign, engage in a pitched battle and tell me if that is something you want to do for a couple hours a week. Stand on the wall of a keep and as someone Supermans their way up to you tell me that seems like a proper game mechanic.

I just believe that they either are ignorant of, or oblivious to, the problems with the console experience. The former I can forgive, the latter is detestable, and far more likely unfortunately. I just wish they would take a quarter and focus solely on fixes rather than new content, or unnecessary updates like racial changes or barbershop. These things would be great, but a fully functional, smooth running game would improve the player experience far more in my opinion.

I don't like being so negative about things like this, but performance is honestly terrible. ZOS can't hide this.

The game is absolutely NOT hopelessly broken. It is in a very bad state right now though and direly needs some attention.

The can release the game in whatever state, broken/laggy/bugged/glitched it make no difference to them. if people are buying it or subbing to it or buying crowns they have no reason to test it or fix it.

if we keep giving them money its like rewarding constant failure, and fail is what ZOS do best.

Unfortunately console peeps this is something on and off PC players have been dealing with for a while, so I don't think it'll change much any time soon. I hope things get settled for both console and PC players but I honestly don't see it happening and I agree it's somewhat sad to see it so often. Then again I continue to play, and more importantly pay so I guess they really have no motivation to fix things. >.>

Yep it's getting pretty appalling. And can we have a eta on when things like thaumaterge for sweeps/jabs is getting fixed, medicinal use passive being fixed, and the vet Sanctum door lockout fix is coming to console. When content has dps races, and the main spammable for stam/magic templars is nerfed, and people only getting 66% uptime on major sorcery/ brutality instead of 100% and then you get a player dc on the Serpent, it's probably an evening wasted, which pisses off a lot of people that have just endured the laggy rngfest that sanctum now is

Bethesda / Zneimax has been releasing buggy software for 20 years now, and quite successufully. How ?

They fix bugs over time and their game content is great quality. Just saying.

You will probably have to wait another moth for ZOS to get their *** together and two, maybe three months later your game will be broken again because you have no choice but to download the new expansion, even if it is a completely pointless expansion.

Screw it. Here I go with my feelings on this.

I've played this game for a year straight. Subbed ever since the start. Have spent 100s on the game. I've played every extra minute I've had in the last year.

I have two, nearly 3 master anglers. I have 4 guys with fully maxed mounts. I own 6 Senche mounts, a bear, a guar, imperial horse. Over 20+ costumes.

I have every trait (nearly) researched. I own all motifs. I am in 5 selling guilds and fill my stalls daily. I'm a nerd on this game. I live life and extra time is spent on the game.

I think my point is made I've spent lots of time and money on this game.

The performance that started with thieves guild and has taken an insane hit with dark brother hood, is appalling. I've lagged out 20+ times In a row in elden root. I've had a char stuck in wrothgar for days.

I can't travel any town without multiple load screens. Hell, it's all been said before above. The game is in a death bed state right now.

As we have said multiple times, it's not so much the state of the game as its the lack of respect and acknowledgement on the issue. We as players are the ones who are Making them money. Instead of keeping us updated, and admitting fault in their terrible programming and coding performance, they instead stay silent. We all see this and at the same time see you jump into threads within minutes to clarify any sort of issue with the crown shop crap. But as soon as we say hey, it's broken, they don't care. If they acted as if they cared we may be willing to hang on.

This lack of respect and the total frustration over the state of the game has caused me tonight to say screw it and turn it off. I sit here with free time to play the game, but instead I am writing this on the forum to share my experience of sadness and exasperation with the state of the game. I think that says a lot. I would rather write about how bad it is instead of play the game.

This is not how you keep paying customers happy.

I said it before. When molag bal was broken for months on end, I posted and asked how it's acceptable? If other games release dlc with the final boss of said dlc not working, most companies would work overtime, work through the weekend to fix it. Here they laughed and were like "so? Buy wrothgar instead"

It's pathetic.

If it doesn't change I'm gone. And I've laughed at others who have said it before or threatened it before. But I see other games I've missed in the last year which work fine. I'm beginning to search for what I'll play next. It's a sad day for this one

This is truly sad. Not your post just he fact that you as a long time dedicated player even has to make such a post.However, your voice is probably one of the most important in the pack of many who are sick and tired of this issues this game suffers from. While I don't promote an outright exit and posting about it (that is not what you're doing) I can say that I do promote voicing your opinion. I've actually contacted major youtubers pleading with them to come play this game to bring attention to the current situation in hopes that they might illuminiate the situation and force ZOS to step up and MAKE QUALITY CONTENT.

Sadly all I've seen is them comment on crown store praises and "i quit" threads with "were always sorry to see someone go" responses and then pump out another bug ridden dlc, I can't say we should move on but what should be done is that we go to our largest youtubers with a passion for gaming and ask them to look at what is going on.

This is not the standard. There are many games out there mmos included that do a far more COMPITENT job of releasing content than ZENIMAX ONLINE STUDIOS does.

Thing is, the game itself (despite the million bugs and such) is fantastic. There is so much to do and so many ways to play. It's hard not to love it.

ZOS, this is why I created this thread. The recent problem affects ALL facets of Elder Scrolls Online. Everything. When load screens pop up everywhere at random times, FPS drops to 5, and skills/weapon swap/potions no longer fire, it messes with hardcore and casuals alike.

We aren't talking about a single piece of content here. This game has AMAZING content to offer, but you are no longer letting us play that amazing content. Performance is stopping us from playing your game correctly. Make it your priority. Do something. You have to because ESO truly cannot survive in its current state.

Also, the lack of a new zone for 3rd quarter DLC does not help. You need to fix the performance.

Forget balance.
Forget bugs.
Forget DLC.
Forget Crown Store schemes.

Fix the performance of TESO!

Yeah Ive already started playing the Division again if there was another MMO on console that wasn't such a cash grab (ie Neverwinter) I would be gone this game is so unstable and gets worse every patch.

The real problem is that there is no MMORPG competition for ESO on the consoles.... As soon as there is then ESO is going to lose a big chunk of their customers.... unless of course they can actually fix their game!!

However until another console mmorpg comes along most of us will continue to play this game... bugs and all.

That's not true. Vanilla is always broken. The fans patch their bugs for them. But this will NOT happen in this game.

And btw. there is only one way to let them see the errors of their way: STOP BUYING CROWNS, for gods sake. Only lamenting here will not work.

As long as they make money from fools, myself included because I didn't recognize the state the game was in. They don't need to fix anything at all. So we all have to stop give them money, until they fix the lags and the fps drops.

7 Million customers, my ass. Why did they not tell us about the numbers of players, that are actually playing this game on monthly basis?

It sounds to me like the devs need to lower the graphics settings in the console. That is about their only option considering the console is a port of a PC game. This will make the frame rate a little better.

The load times though not much you can do except get a external SSD and move the game to it.

The current generation of consoles in terms of specs are pretty low end at this point.

I have my fingers crossed for you guys in the hopes the performance issues will be addressed.

Give up, they don't know how to fix the game, it's been like this since launch. If you want to play you just need to get used to it.
Further more don't expect ZOS to comment regarding this, they will ignore it, hoping you go away.

Even though you shouldnt have to - if you have an external hard drive, i found that moving the game over to that external helps a LITTLE with lag and loading screen issues. It doesn't fix the problem, but I have not ever gotten locked out of a character in wrothgar - I get an occasional crash still, but no perma-kicks.

Again, we shouldn't have to resort to buying an external hard drive to play the game but it is an option you have for temporary relief.

I personally believe that the issue on XBox is caused by a bad memory leak in the client, and Windows 10's (which the XBox now runs on) terrible memory load handling. Windows memory handling has always been an issue all the way back to Windows 3.11.

The reason it isn't so much of an issue with PS4 is that the PS4 client more closely resembles the OSX version of this game, as the PS4 runs a proprietary version of a unix OS, which has very good memory handling in its kernel, and can quickly empty the RAM from an excessive memory leak without crashing the game.

PS4 performance in towns and busy areas is atrocious, player and npc characters take an age to render, moving about in these areas is a constant series of stutter stutter stutter oops load screen.

The spell spammers certainly don't help either, why do they do that, whats the attraction of standing at a town way shrine casting spells, do they think they look awesome or something ?

Game is in a very poor state right now and needs a great deal of attention, I don't want to, but it might be time to take a break and find something else
