Dungeon Etiquette & Early Leaver Penalties

Four dungeons tonight (EU) and the same as a fair few nights this last week, people queue in the dungeon finder, get in and instantly leave. Wtf!? All of them follow this pattern and if it isn't this it's a healer who queued for that role but only deals damage in their DW medium armour build. They had no intentions of filling that role.

I don't know what could be done regarding people queuing for roles they don't mean to complete, but as for people just leaving two seconds in, being the first to leave should be something like 'leave so many dungeons, gain a dungeon ban for X amount of time'. It's unfortunate I don't get to dungeon more in the daytime and with guildmates, because nighttime content runs punish me with these ridiculous re-queue time penalties. Give it to the deserter, not me!

Well, I won't bother to do WGT, and I loathe Blackheart Haven (most annoying dungeon ... ever) so I can see jumping ship for those (and I've on occasion que-ed with a partner and left for those reasons - yeah, I admit it - usually group with 4 folks I know so that's not a problem).

Admittedly, I've been on the other end of this (had 2 tanks in a row insta-abandon City of Ash, about 5-10 min wait to get the next one, so it took about 30 min for us to get going).

There was a waiting time with the patch but it seems to have stopped, last night anyway.

I will tell you why - I did this last night as well.

I stood LFG spamming for silver, got a group and did it fine. I then decided to queue for a normal while questing, which popped a few minutes later and GUESS WHAT???? I landed in the Silver Dungeon again. FFS!

When ZOS adds Pledges to the Group finder this will stop. Until then good luck with me and my type.

In that case a penalty is needed, although not as it was. Im still on the fence as to how fair the 15 minute, mandatory wait no matter the circumstances, is.

You're the bad guy in this little story IMO. 2 of the same dungeon woah don't want that now do we?

If I get put into a pledge group in progress, ie. Killed the first boss and I qued for that pledge than I will drop, timer or no. But why lose my key, I wouldn't que for a pledge in progress but there is not an option for that.

what are the odds that grouping for a rando, normal wouls have a higher chance of beinf the daily. boohoo your life must be hell

No one is going to care that you're not getting dragged through a dungeon, just stop trying to justify your reasoning for it. I leave groups sometimes too, sucks for everybody.

Yeah that sucks. Why should you just help for 0 reward?

There is also the "been queued for so insanely long I completely forgot I was queued". And then the group finally pops up as you are about to log off for dinner or work or sleep.

Its not that I wont get a reward but lose my reward, wont get the silver or gold, but get bronze or something, its not that I dont stay and help if its a random, but why take a bronze when I qued for silver?

yeh randos are different. even if you just kill the last boss you still get exp. there's incentive and reward for helping. not so much with dailies. Also, whatever reason the group is doing bad enougn there's at least 1 missing person and progression has stopped, I already know I'm inheriting a problem. I may like the dungeon alot [darkshade, crypt of hearts] and run it anyway abandoning the quest, but I might also get elden hollow, which I'm su=ick to death of seeing and just want it over with, god forbid do it twice.

I bet most of you quitters can't be bothered to say "Hi, sorry I'm leaving for x reason, good luck", when you re quite talkative to try to justify your behavioour on the forums.

Can someone please buy the ZOS guys a WOW sub so that they can see how the most BASIC functions of an MMO are supposed to function.

If only the Dungeon Finder was given as much love as the Crown Store - it would be amazing.

Well thats just it really isnt it. Im on PS4 and always take the time to go to profile of each party member in a random set up and say thanks for party etc. Half these people dont reply, or talk trash back yes even to a simple "Thanks for the party"

On console its a little more challenging to communicate effectively and some simply dont want to, they shouldnt be foreced to either. Having said that, a little courtesy goes along way!

You know what they should have? An option to vote to "disband the group". If everyone votes yes, you are teleported out of the dungeon, disbanded, and suffer no 15 minute queue penalty.

That way, when two people ditch the group, those left behind are not unfairly penalized.
