What do you love about this game?

So, things have been particularly bad lately for me in game (lost AP due to crashes, having to rewait in queue due to crashes, lag, rampant cheating, etc.) and I have come so close to rage quitting. However, I know someone new to game, and they have helped me remember there are things I LOVE about ESO. So, in the interest of having a positive thread, here are some things I love. What do you love about ESO?

* The Weather - I love that it rains and snows and I can see shadows from the clouds overhead. Makes the world feel more real.
^ Sounds - hooves on wooden bridges, the whoosh of an arrow, music wafting through the air, some outstanding voice actors.
^ The firsts - your first dolmen, first group dungeon, etc.
^ Choices - I can group or go solo depending on my mood. I'm rather anti-social and this is important to me.
^ Vignettes - a little cluster of objects beside some rocks, would usually be nothing in other games but here, a note and a poignant story mini story unfolds.
^ PvP - Yeah it is full of cheaters and the lag is unbearable and the loss of AP staggering (oh if I had the AP from every time I lost it during crashes, I would be wealthy indeed!) but I adore the human element of the alliance war. There are repeatable tactics and strategies but they don't always work because you never know what other people will do. I prefer that to the "ok, now every one spin three times, and move left when the boss does x, now jump through the hoop choreography of trials.)
^ Rich stories - I do love to quest and the stories in ESO are mostly well written and engaging.
^ Sentinel - Love this city's gleaming domes and exotic feel.
^ Coldharbor - hauntingly beautiful!

And you?

Honestly I love that there's a variety in builds especially in PVP. People will argue against this but there's so many different skill, armour combos that can be successful.

Obviously some are more effective than others but none the less there's a big variety.

I'm not a hardcore gamer in the sense I play multiple MMOs etc. I played destiny on xbox quite a lot and this game had a IMO a more toxic pvp community. Destiny also had ZERO variety in pvp and pve. Always same weapons, same skills etc. So much elitism.

Note: I'm no scrub on destiny. Top 1% kd in pvp and also carried many a noob to the lighthouse. Like I said this game has much more variety and challenge IMO.

I recently came back after two years away, and I'm rediscovering a bunch of great things I never realized I missed. :)
    • Expansive character customization
    • Beautiful vistas
    • Being able to experience areas of Tamriel previously un-seen (Summerset Isle, Valenwood, Black Marsh...)
    • So many lore books!
    • Razum-dar
    • Little rewards for taking your time and exploring, like finding that hidden chest in an untouched corner of the map
    • The satisfaction of sneaking into an enemy bandit camp, killing the leader, and then sneaking out with none of them the wiser.
    • Most of all, the ability to share all of the above with my sister
I am Queen of Typos. If you don't see "Edited by BlackSparrow" above this line, please assume my account has been taken over by scamps and react accordingly.

    My Girls:
    "Elsweyr, yay or nay?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "If circumstances try to drive me there, maybe. Right now, it just sounds like a lot of sand in my boots."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "The simple thought of it dries my scales. I ventured into Elsweyr long ago, but I may be getting too old to make the journey again."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "This one looks forward to seeing her home sands again. Perhaps she will make her home village many fish sticks!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "I could do much with a good dragon hide."
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "I see little need to muck about some ancient tomb. Too much work to do elsewhere. No, that was not an intentional pun."
Lorelai Magpie, breton thief: "Stealing from the Ban Daar is always a fun challenge. Sometimes, they steal their stuff back!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "While I try to stay at Swum-Many-Waters' side, the whispers of an undead threat worry me."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "Perhaps. The lady Mephala spins many webs, and I can see there being benefit in sending me into the path of an undead invasion."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hear there will be dragons. I would be a disappointment to my Nord heritage if I did not try to slay them."
Madam Argentia, dunmer aristocrat: "I have little desire to waltz across the desert for weeks at a time. It's terrible for the complexion."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'm kinda busy up in Wrothgar, sorry!"
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "The Khajiit usually throw some nice contracts my way. I'm sure Jimila will have something that will take me there."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one is happy to check back on her homeland after grand adventures drew her away! Let the kittens call her -dra instead of -daro now!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "My lady Meridia does detest the undead. I may need to sneak out on my duties on Artaeum to address it."

    • ->Game is not the same
    • ->Skill ! present
    • ->PVE can use tweaks, I'd rather play a hardcore game for it.
    • ->Missing 1.3-1.5 hard.

HEY! But the game has had a huge turn around for PVE, its insane. It's pretty much a new game, as for PVP, its the same old thing since launch, just buggier.

I like how it's still in beta, someday it will get released.
Raising floors and lower ceilings by zos standards has created an iron maiden.
No matter how well you played, when the game is over, the king and pawn go back in the same box.
Be careful what you ask for from zo$, you always get punished.

The fact that One Tamriel is coming. The one thing I've wanted for this game since day one was for it to feel like an Elder Scrolls game, and with One Tamriel coming later this year they will have achieved it.

The immersion. The music (love the new cue when you load into EP zones, btw), the storylines, the growth from half-drowned soulless nobody to savior of your alliance, friend to kings/queens. The writings, from the overly-technical musings on et-Adan nature to scrabbled notes on scraps of paper. The rich cultures of the various nations. The quest dialogue. The quest-givers, from innocent victims to noble leaders to petty criminals to people fully responsible for their own problem.

    Yep, the immersion.

My crafting bag. I'm a disorganized hoarder, and this is my bar now - If I'm playing with friends and something good happens or I get a nice drop or I see something cool, I'll say that I love it almost as much as my crafting bag.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

    * The khajiit race models. They look so good
    * Razum-dar
    * the core combat gameplay (as it was pre DB, now it feels really slow)
    * then the parts that are taken from the other TES games (lock pick, criminality, sneaking and such)
    * the graphics (the Rift was one of the prettiest zones I have ever seen in a game ever, only a few games I have played can be compared to that)
    * the writing for some of the characters, like Adusa-Daro, a dunmer drug adict I ran into early EP (he said something about argonians always looking angry because of their teeth and he was high on hist sap), Stibbons who I always accidently kill (I hate the woman he serves and I always tries to kill her but poor stibbons always gets in the way)

Some cities are incredibly beautiful and I really love the khajiiti farming sugar. Those farms got a great feel to it...
The animations of some animals are implemented quite well, those tigers feel very real, and the ruins in Kenarthi's Roost are beautiful. The concept art of the game really inspires me.

Overall the feeling of the world is a spectacular joy to contemplate how big and reasonably well populated it is.

I forgot to mention the nice wallpaper backgrounds on those loading screens. I have memorized each tiny pixel on those.

May I suggest ZoS to create a "Find the difference" game while waiting there. The loading screen will have 2 almost identical pictures and we will have to find the differences. When you find all the differences, you can alt+f4 to restart the game!

I like the gameplay. It feels much more active than other MMOs where your actions are rationed by large GCDs and ability timers. Also the artwork and the in-game jokes. For example, the skeleton at the bottom of a waterfall next to a crushed barrel in Wrothgar.
