After the latest patch, I get this message every time I try to launch the game (after clicking 'play' on the ESO launcher).
What should I actually do to launch the game?
I tried some solutions found in the Internet but nothing works... ;-(
My client is 32-bit.

We've seen a few reports of this, and restarting the PC/Mac has worked for some. Could you give that a try?

Did you try launching the exe directly from the ESO folder instead of using the launcher? Or try googling that dll file to see if you can manually install what is missing, but I am no PC genius.

I tried restarting my PC several times and it didn't work. I also run the program as administrator and it didn't help either...

A user over in the German forum got the same error message. He reported that the game finally ran for him after invoking the Repair function from the Launcher three times in a row.

I tried to download the file from this site manually, and now I can't even launch the client. When I try to do so, I see the client's background with 'loading' message and it doesn't proceed further.

I finally managed to load the client but the repair function didn't help.
When I clicked the play button once again it turned out that another file is missing: msvcp100.dll
I got this one from my friend's PC, pasted it to (C:)/Windows/System32 and SysWOW64 directories and the game finally launched!
Ufff... just in case if anybody has the same problem and hasn't found a solution yet :-)

If for some reason you are missing these DLLs, they are installed from the Microsoft website at:

@ZOS_JessicaFolsom , I was having this problem as well, and I discovered that after the patch, my launcher was trying to launch the 64 bit client instead of the 32 bit. By manually running the 32 from the file location, I was able to circumvent the error and get into the game. Please have the team look into why the launcher is trying to launch the 64 bit by default.

Thank you for the info, @staracino_ESO. If we see anyone else running into this issue, we'll have them give that a try. I'll check on the 64-bit client being chosen by default--I believe that happens when your system is able to run that client. It's usually the better choice in that case.

Yeah I went and downloaded the patches I needed today and came up with the error. I'm running 64bit win 10 so it automatically sets it as the default, but if you go into the launcher settings and uncheck the "Run 64bit game client" then you'll be able to get into the game.

I haven't got an error message I just get a black screen and nothing happens. I'm sooo sick of this sh#t. after every patch it just gets worse. So I've completely uninstalled an erased the game from my computer and have restarted a complete install. I'm sure it won't work... On the positive side at least I don't have to worry about the screwed up dungeon finder now!!!

This may be a "workaround" but definitely NOT what you should be doing. Always run the 64 bit version if your system is a 64 bit.

I can confirm exactly what the problem is as I just refreshed my machine today and ESO was one of the first apps I installed. It does select the 64 bit client version by default if you are running 64 bit windows BUT it installs the 32bit version of the VC++. THAT is the problem. If you download and install the 64 bit version of VC++, this error goes away.

I refreshed my PC last night and was having the same troubles today. I downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of VC++ and the problem is solved. I can once again run ESO in 64 bit mode.

    Thanks for posting this :)
