At what level is normal Maelstrom arena targeted at?

When I first come across maelstrom arena, I'd heard all the stories about it, and you know you can't avoid that urge just to step inside and see what it's all about. So at the time, being a mag DK with around 280-300 CP attempted the arena, unknowing it was on veteran. Safe to say I got romped as early as round 2 of the first stage, so I called the quits. I tried changing my group settings to normal, then returning to try it again, but to no success. So I thought to myself surely this can't be normal ma, vma would literally be impossible otherwise. So whatever I left and that was the end of that. Then just last night I realised how many people under 300 CP I'd seen with the maelstrom arena champion title, so I thought I'd have to try it again . This time I made sure my settings were xon normal before porting in and gave it another crack.
Mag DK 360 CP attempting normal maelstrom arena.
40 minutes later with the arena completed and only a few deaths on 2 arenas because I hadn't got my head around the mechanics yet.
This thread is is no way shape or form trying to 'show off', I'm just curious as to why normal MA is so incredibly easy compared to VMA? I expected half a challenge, not to 2-3 hit all the mobs. Is normal Ma just a watered down version of VMA to help you learn the mechanics of the arena or? Or is it just simply aimed at lower levels so the content is there for them, and VMA for the best of the best?

People are using it to grind alts cause the experience is pretty decent. But, Yeah its pretty lack luster in there and the mobs do not present any sort of challenge whatsoever!

Good point, the difference is huge and since vMA is doable with some/much practice id say normal is way too easy. Too easy to learn mechanics and because of that no good training ground to prepare for veteran version

That's probably the biggest positive I noticed out of it, the XP was really good for how easily the mobs died haha
But yeah i only ran through it on normal because I'd never attempted it before and had seem people with 100 less CP than me with the Ma title and wondered how hard could it actually be (on normal anyway)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it. The difference between the two was unreal.
I'm not even going to attempt vMA anytime soon, I got booted to dashboard attempting to start round 1 of the 2nd arena... Australian Internet and DB update are a good mix haha. Plus I'm way too squishy anyway, and I haven't heard many stories of mag DKs completing VMA 'easily' if I could say that

nMA is a good solo private grind spot. That's the only thing it's good for.

I've done nMA naked: no armor, no jewelry, with weapons being the only thing my character equipped. And it's still easier than doing vMA.

nMA does not prepare you for vMA, and anyone who wants to clear vMA should just do vMA. The only thing nMA is good for in terms of vMA prep is showcasing the spawn locations and spawn order.

The normal doesnt count in you have any special equips and its good for leveling. concidering also new players without cp should be able to beat it. its still DLC and shoudl be able to be scaled for everyone.
also its more about learning the mechanics and learn how to play the arena on its mechanics first.
the rewards arent anything special so the difficulty class for a full equiped 300cp veteran neither.

Veteran is a end game trial. if u think its to hard. then reconcider it has the best weapons able to aqquire in the game.

in veteran also things dont really change much except you really need end game gear and at least 350 cp and alot of tries to make it happan.

I almost cleared it out now with the impossible style stamina nightblade with 325 cp
i have reached the last arena round 5. its quite hard to stay among the living but in the end its obviously worth it and the hard work makes it up for the good experience.

Norma MA scales to your level. If you have decent amount of CP it can be much easier on a low level alt. I remember doing it around lvl 20 on my khajit then again at v6. The latter felt much harder, because that's how scaling works.

Yeah I figured it was for wrapping your heard around the mechanics and whatnot, getting a feel of the arenas.
As for the rewards yeah I'm pretty sure I broke down every single set piece from the chests after I finished the arena.

I don't know what you mean by me saying it's too hard then I need to reconsider. If you think I'm trying to say it needs a nerf then that's far from what I'm saying. The only reason I said I'm not even going to bother attempting it is because under many circumstances I know I won't beat it right now.

But yeah spot on, ultimately at the end it's worth it, and would be a sigh of relief completing it for the first time

Lol I kind of feel like attempting to run it on my level 35 Templar healer/dps now. I didn't know it scaled to my level, I thought it would be vice versa.

The XP you get from normal Maelstrom is awesome especially with a scroll running. Once you get the hang of it, finish the whole thing in about 1/2 hour. It's been awhile since I tried vMA, hopefully with max CP I can beat it this time...

you can do it on any level. i did it on my lvl 4 alt. wanted to do on lvl 3, but needed some lorebooks for magelight and got too much exploration exp :)
though the mobs were level 10 or smth. when i finished i was level 9

what I mean with if people think veteran mealstrom arena is too hard and if people think it should be nerfed.
is something i would dissagree with.
because it has the best weapons in the game to be able to acuire.

I remember thinking it was so hard when it first came out lol. The only character I had was a DK tank with awful gear and a handful of CPs (all put in the wrong places). I had my attribute points set 20/24/20! It took me forever to kill anything with my 2 sword and board bars. I was so stoked when I finally beat the last boss and put on my awesome title. I said that I was never going to be able to complete vMA.

Fast forward a couple of months, and I can almost break 500k on vMA. If nothing else, nMA showed my personal growth in the game.
