Trait research speed up- suggestion

How about an hour glass or something of the like that can speed up traits.. example: -30 days off the research time for your longest researching trait... for 1000 crowns ..

That counts as pay to win, Crowns are meant to be cosmetic or replicate a service that already exists in the main game.

how about NO? longest research time if u have passives is only 30 days... and with eso+ it is 27 days..

too much of this game is becoming too easy and devalued, having some of the best sets in game readily available only kills end game 'progression/content'

There are enough people out there who are willing to craft the gear for people these days, or give people research stones, in that aspect it is becoming easier by the day already without more 'mechanics' changes

Yes it"s frustratingly long and all, but still wouldn’t pay crowns for it

The last 2 trait timers are indeed insanely long - but a crown purchase item to speed them up seems like a horrible idea.

Sorry, but can't get on board with this one.

Perhaps a better crafting passive (maybe implement a general crafting skill line) that puts a bigger dent into the time sink for it.

    Crown purchase? No thank you.

    No. No. No. No.

From the days of beta crafting research was meant to be time intensive.

How about being patient like all the rest of us who waited for months and months to get our last bit of research done?

I don't want any kind of GOD mode in this game.

That's like being so mad cause ppl don't have to level each character to VR12,13,16

Research sucks. It should be changed similar to now how crafting bags is a game changer. I'm done with almost all but that doesn't mean I wouldn't want it better for anyone else or if I decided to do so on an alt to save from logging in and out diff characters

Make it 2.5k or 5k and I wouldn't have much a problem with it with one HUGE exception. If they ever plan on adding a 10th trait, then no this should not be added. Hell even if the thought of another trait has crossed the dev's minds. As it stands right now, there are enough 9 trait crafters that I wouldn't personally consider it pay to win. If a tenth trait is introduced and this is a feature, it will be pay to win at least in my eyes.

-editing to add- This is coming from someone who only has 2 light items, and 2 weapons that are currently being researched and will be a full 9 trait on all crafts once their research is done.

I would be ok with psijic or experience scrolls giving allowing the clock to move twice as fast.

A 1 hour psijic allows give 2 hours of research time.

A 2 hour scroll gives 4 hour of research time.

Hour for hour, would be convenient for making sure you have as much up time and as little downtime as possible and give a reason to use these things after CR160.

But that would be honestly all I could support.

I picked up he game at PS4 launch and am like seven research able traits away from 9 trait everything.

If they made this a joke after I've literally invested hundreds of hours and hundreds of thousands of in hame gold I would be so pissed I would likely unsub delete all my characters justvyo make sure I never popped in to see what was up.

This one is working through the traits. Not a 9 trait crafter yet, but this one values those who have put the effort in and is putting the effort/time/gold to reach that level too.

Khajiit thinks too many people want everything given to them too easy now.

Maybe just a tweak that allows you to research 4 items at once or 2 from the same weapon / armor type

I have burned several hours (woodworking especially) because I had 3 resto staves to research but could only research one at a time even though I had 2 open research slots available.

Oh, and maybe do something with enchanting - it's just, painful...

remember when people said xp pots would be pay to win, and that an extra 10% xp was just the worst thing ever.

then xp pots came out and were 50% xp and they lost there fing minds.

and now they don't care because it didn't matter.

technically yes, its known by folks who actually look into this kind of stuff (I have looked at the subject a bit) that the baby boomers are in fact the worst generation!
    - they started the invention of the "self" that led to the millennial "me" generation
    - they created the current education and college system AFTER they already had jobs (that now give our youth massive debt)
    - they destroyed marriages and started divorcing more instead of making it work (se self leading to me)
    - they told there kids to go get jobs after having a post WW (lots of dead = open jobs) pre degree work force to enter and before having massive immigration issues (generation x was small but we had and continue to have massive immigration to make up for it, now we have both a huge generation AND massive immigration leading to unemployment the largest its ever been in the US ever!)
    - they told kids to go buy houses (after either A inheriting there own homes or B buying them at a time before real estate was used as a major means to make money, your parents huge nice house probably only cost them 40k back in the day our money *inflation*)

this has set back the current generation through
-massive lack of employment (Spain is over 50% I think, US is all time high at around 20%, most countries are the same)
-despite having higher amounts of college degrees then previous generations they are paid less (about 20%) due to entering the workforce during a recession, and are stuck in low wage jobs.
-massive lack of marriage (the amount of single people by age 40 has doubled since gen x)
-more youth living with parents (people up to age 35! are more likely to be living with their parents then with a partner)

the overall idea appears to be that a huge focus on wealth (more popular now then ever) an obligation to achieve higher levels of education and to get better jobs and make more money is causing a lack of caring on actually making a new family and having children (80% of gen x women wanted to have children, that number has dropped to about 40% of millennial women)

also millennials are very negative towards there own generation on average, calling themselves lazy and other derogatory terms much more so then previous.

    its all very depressing

I don't agree with all of that (could be due to a difference between US and UK economies and education during that time - I am in the UK so can't speak for what life was like in the US) - but I know I was fairly privileged as a working-class Generation X-er in the UK compared to youngsters here nowadays - in that in my day higher education was cheaper to attain (in terms of coming out of it with less debt, still required the work to be put in to get good marks of course) and had a better chance of leading to a job; housing was cheaper both in terms of rent and in terms of purchase cost and chance of getting a mortgage to buy your first property; and income even for a fairly basic job went further than it does these days, along with better job security. I am a very ordinary person and first bought property (to live in, I'm not some sort of property magnate) when I was in my early 20s because I had a secure job that whilst it may not have been the best paid in the world, it did provide a steady income enough for a mortgage - and house prices were cheap compared to now - an opportunity (and some forward-going stability) that young adults today simply do not have so easily.

Aww, geez. It must be Monday...

...five days after a thread on an extremely similar topic quietened down, we get a new one.

All of the arguments for, and against, have already been made there.

That said, I do want to see changes to Trait Research. I want to see it made more involved. I was unhappy with the time-sink only idea as far back as April 8th 2014 as I thought it incentivised crafters to absent while researching. I still do. Although I now think it also causes people to devalue the time put into learning traits as it isn't active time.

To that end, I suggested an idea almost a year ago about how the system could be made both more complex but also more meaningful. Something that really rewards the dedication of crafters.

I would definitely favour something like that over some tacky Crown Store P2W option.
