Gear Infusion - infuse any lower CP armor piece into a higher CP armor piece you have

The game Destiny has a gear system that allows you to take a lower level gear that is rare and you want to keep and "Infuse" it into a higher level gear you already have - just need to pay a few coins and mats. I would love to for example take my CP 140 Valkyn Skoria and "Infuse" it into whatever random crap drop CP 160 head piece I happen to get from a drop. This would make me so much more attached to my gear instead of feeling like I am renting my gear knowing full well there is 100% certainty it will become obsolete an will need to freaking re-farm the same dungeons I have refarmed countless times already.

It should obviously not be cheap to infuse the gear together so they can make it outrageously expensive, but anything is better than havin to refarm every dungeon every time the CP level is raised.

I think they should just allow you to upgrade the weapons and armor using the mats that you would need if you were normally crafting. Like for example upgrading a v14 heavy chest to v16 would first require you to upgrade the item to v15 using 15 rubedite and then you upgrade it to v16 by using 150 rubedite. Upgrading the item could also take away the item quality as if it was a newly crafted item. You should not be able to change the trait however. It could allow for a style change with some exceptions such as monster sets and maelstrom weapons cannot be changed.
