What is with all the stamina builds?

I am seeing a Sorcerer stamina build, Dragon Knight Stamina build, etc so why is stamina the big thing now? Just getting back, so I don't have a clue why this is good or that is good.

So what is so good about stamina now?

I feel weaker this patch as a stamina user at-least PvP wise; post patch PvP wise I felt stronger and PvE wise I was slightly weaker since I didn't have CP scale-able DoTs.

I feel weaker this patch as a stamina user at-least PvP wise; post patch PvP wise I felt stronger and PvE wise I was slightly weaker since I didn't have CP scale-able DoTs.

My Stam DK feels much stronger overall, but some specific skills got nerfed.

    Nerfed:

Wrecking Blow - no longer stuns; no longer double-dips into thaumaturge

Flames of Oblivion - I'm getting about 10% less damage, and this is because I've transferred points from elemental expert to mighty now that that the searing strike and fiery breath stamina morphs are tied to poison damage/Mighty.

Every other DK skill that uses magic - partially because I'm less invested in elemental expert (I kept 10 CP in for Flames and Shooting Star); but mainly because magic costs have grown tremendously. I used to be able to cast Dragonfire Scales and Obisidian Shield much more frequently.

    Unsure if nerfed or buffed:

    Executioner -

    Con: No longer increases the damage of 2-handed skills against those with low health;

    Pro - Does more damage

    Arrow Barrage- Seems weaker

Roll-dodging- Costs a lot more now

    Buffed-

    Venomous Claw

    Noxious Breath

Pretty much every Dual Wield skill

FIGHTER's Guild Skills!!!! - Each one slotted increases weapon damage! (I love my Silver Leash) And Flawless Dawnbreaker is finally usable as a stamina ultimate.

You also have to put it in context with the Nerf to magicka builds. They were nerfed much more, and didn't really receive any substantial buffs to compensate.

It also seems like two-handed skills are much easier to weave with this patch.

Hybrid builds are viable. And strong. Combine the sustained damage and healing of a magicka Templar with the heavy blows and CC of a stamina Templar and we have something that is incredibly durable and deadly in PvP.

This also lets me do a bit of dps as a tank, with Puncturing Sweeps healing me as I strike.

My main was a dual wield stam sorc before it was cool B) :P

No but seriously I use certain classes and/or builds simply for RP reasons and/or because I find them fun. I've not really changed any of my characters' builds because I've been playing SWTOR I'm stubborn and lazy.

I think it's because magicka was so one sided last patch that everyone is now sick of magicka builds.

Oh and all the pugs heard streamers and such say stamina is the META/ FOTM therefore they had to reroll.

I levelled up a stam khajiit NB up to v16 way before DB and never really used it. I made it for pvp but never got round to sticking with it. Is it still a good build for pvp after DB?? .I also started a khajiit DK for pve/pvp again I only levelled this char up to lv17 and when back to magicka based builds as I'm usually ranged. Not sure what to go with for pvp as I am pretty bored with the magicka

Maybe because Stamina allows more variety whereas Magicka does not. You have multiple choices of weapons allowing for much wider range of loadout options, when playing Magicka you're relegated to using Destro/Resto staff if you weave or DW for spell damage. With Stamina, you can switch between weapons, try new things, which helps to alleviate boredom when playing the same game over a long period of time; the more variety, the more long term viability IMO.

They made a few changes to give stamina builds more options on class skills that actually scale off physical damage or related passives and cp trees plus added poisons so people are trying the new build options out.

Give it a couple of weeks for the theory crafters to do their thing and we'll see whether stamina will be the meta or whether they got the magicka/stamina balance about right...

Done the same :) but now with added character spots you don't really need to reroll to try something different.

IN GENERAL Stamina specs were buffed and Magicka specs were nerfed.

Let's not forgot that Disease attacks via Stam NB, Poison attacks via Stam DK, and Hurricane on Stam Sorc look really cool too :)

Plus we had Vet ranks removed which allows us to play with characters we never bothered to level up before.

The meta has switched from Magicka to Stamina. Balance IS all-around better this patch though imo.
