Good thing ZOS prides themselves in listening to their playerbase. Like Mat Firor just said at E3, the success of ESO is directly attributed to listening to players and making adjustments as necessary. They must have listened to you OP! You are the 6 Percent!

It's really easy to fix this. Delete Prosperous and Training from the loot tables and add nirnhoned and impen. Most PvE'ers want divines, most PvP wants inpen.

You still get a 1/7 chance to get the "best" trait, a dilution rate ZOS seems to like, but with this method, every trait you get is useful for some type of combat for someone. Players will still be encouraged to grind without out feeling put off by the fact that they got something completely useless.

    Everybody wins!

Around 14 days of farming damn chests and world bosses in Wrothgar. 85% of set pieces are CP150 and I have got only one briarheart neckles CP150 of course two ring of briarheart one cp150 and another arcane. While when I opened bronze undauted chest I have got engine guardian shoulders with not bad trait on it. Why in the hell would anyone put stam set with arcane trait on rings...

Edit: not only this but also I payed for the damn DLC and I am still getting 150 not 160 items which can not be traded/bought from other players.
I thought it will be good replace for agility set but it is not worth at all, time or my money spended on that DLC.

My healer has gotten a full CP160 set of Briarheart and two sets of Pariah (and this is not including the CP150 drops at all), but is currently sporting CP150 Trinimac's Valor with her jewelry as two healthy and a robust. I did get CP160 well fitted gloves of course.

I am leveling a Stamplar in the hope she can get the Trinimac's Valor for my healer. If I wanted a Pariah wearing tank, though, I am set! And the Stamplar even has an Infused Master Bow waiting for her, because magicka users like my healer don't get staves from drops...

Just wait until they implement my positively inspired idea to merge all crafting resource nodes into the Blessed Thistle only, which will then have the following drop rate %:

    Lockpick: 84%
    Potion Solvent: 10%
Enchanting rune: 1% (and all current rarities still apply, so .001% for Kuta)
    Cloth: 1%
    Metal: 1%
    Wood 1%
    All other alchemy reagents: 1%
Provisioning: 1% (all containers will be removed from the world space to improve frame rates)

    RNG never hurt so good.

    Or is that bad?

    Never can decide.

Apparently, if rumors are to be believed, Zenimax has hired a player/streamer to work on itemization. So there is hope for the future in this regard. First part of the job will be easy, end game gear? No bad traits. Second part will be fun where you take the time to go through and make some of the sets more appealing to use and encourage some build diversity.

Also worth noting, if you have 160CP, the max level training gear isn't THAT bad (still would prefer not to have it). I finished pushing a couple of my characters up to 50 last night and their skills are nowhere near max despite them now being "max" level characters.

This was on the PTS forums. You know, the place people are supposed to test things and give feedback to ZOS before it goes live? This was the opinion of all the people who tested it or were interested enough in feedback to visit the PTS forums. If this poll was replicated on general discussion, it would have similar results. People want gear that does something in combat rather than being completely useless.

Diluting the loot table with training and prosperous, although very annoying, is mitigated by the vastly increased drop rates. Gold keys are now guaranteed drops (up from 50%), and silver keys are now 50% drops, up from 10%. The drop rates of heads from bosses have been dramatically increased, and the drop rates from the vICP/vWGT bosses have been increased from about 20% or so to 100%.

So at the end of the day, even though you're getting more junk traits, the chances of getting good traits have gone up due to the increase in overall drop rates.

What I take issue with, though, is the removal of Impenetrable from the loot table. Now the only way to get it is from the Golden vendor, but that's available only once per week and it's random. You might get the item you want this weekend. Or you might end up waiting half a year.

@code65536 while the drop rate increases are definitely good, I still refuse to believe the system is total RNG. When DB launched on Xbox, I opened 15 keys, I got 10 prosperous items. Can't prove it, but it feels like there is a higher chance of rolling prosperous than any other trait. Or I am just incredibly unlucky and going crazy.... Probably that one.

The Prosperous trait is a shiny new one, and thusly, needs to be hyped with all due pomp and circumstance, so that players are made painfully aware of its intrinsic awesomeness before being distracted by something else shiny.

I had another point, but, anon, in the distance, something gleams...

which is why they should "dilute" the loot table with impen and nirnhoned, instead of Prosperous and training. Most people are going for one particular trait so the dilution rate stays 1/7 that way. But as others have said, this suggestion makes too much sense so it's unlikely to get traction with ZOS.

I just wish I could have gotten more Engine Guardian Shoulders, I turned in about 2 dozen Gold and Silver keys (each) and got 2 Engine Guardian Shoulders, one purple and one blue, but only one of them in Heavy (which is all I care about for anything). So I got what I needed for my newly max level Templar, but I was leveling my Sorc too and know I want a set for him, which I haven't been able to get yet despite so many keys it's just ridiculous. At least I don't need his set yet, but I've got some more grinding to do and was hoping I'd be done with at least some of that.

I wouldn't have been thrilled to have those traits, but I'd have been satisfied with the set I needed in any traits as long as it's the right type (the one I got which was good was Heavy Infused I think, I'm not playing right now and haven't played my Templar yet since the patch, so I'm not as sure what it was as I should be). Looks like RNG is just as *** as ever though, I can't even count how many Kena Shoulders I got (and only one in Heavy), none of which are useful to me. I have to say I like the idea of Tokens much better, let us pick the things we want with the traits we want and earn the currency used to purchase them by doing activities that are properly difficult, and prove your worthiness to own the rewards by you having completed them. The way it is now is just obnoxious and needlessly tiresome.

That's probably just bad luck. When I tested the chest on the PTS, my first 20 keys seemed to be all Prosperous and Training. And I was getting ready to write a giant rant about how they biased the drop rates for those. But I decided that if I was going to make a claim like that, I should probably have a larger data set than 20 or so keys. So I spent 175 keys (100 gold, 75 silver) and saw that the drop rates are actually quite even. It was just bad RNG earlier.

And I believe that this is still the case on Live. Although I have yet to spend any keys since the DB update (I'm going to wait a few weeks to see if they come to their senses about Impenetrable), I've seen a few other posts by people who have opened large numbers of keys, and the drop rates do seem about even.

And for some people, there may be a bit of observational bias too, as the disappointment and anger of getting a bad trait tend to stick more in memory, so it might seem like every shoulder (that someone recalls) is Prosperous and Training.
