DEATH THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE

New policy Zenimax leads to the death of the game.

Firor says that Zenimax is aiming to release multiple, smaller DLC packs to cater to players who return to the game intermittently, creating something akin to 'episodes' for the game:

"It’s interesting to see what happens when you take away the subscription model away," Firor explained. "You don’t see a hardcore playstyle - like playing for six months and then quitting - we don’t see that. We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once.

"Our DLC packs cater to that, because they’re smaller, bite-size chunks of story and associated quests."

[snip]

The high price of the game, membership and some things in the crowns Store suggests that developers are interested in the money, rather than the development of the game. As an example it was possible to give a panther dromatha for completing hard mode MOL.

I play with the release of the game and remember all the hardcore content, a new trial Sanctum, dungeon, world bosses, but now all of you can go solo in addition to a trial and Dumb dungeon. Developers listen to beginners and those who are not able to overcome the requirements for hardcore content, and over time it becomes easier and there is no desire to play this game. If earlier it was possible to say that the game is worth the money that it costs to buy, at the moment it does not say. Even at the largest game exhibition came from old news. Today I learned that the developers will produce small DLC for returning igrakov and I was very disappointed in the company. If developers do not reconsider its policy, then the game will soon die, and they will not stay the choice of how to make it free to play. At this point in the game is nothing to do, and in the next update too. Maybe I will follow the example of many of my guild and leave the project.

Possibly some areas will be smaller.

Oh for the love of goodness.

This is what they're already doing.

1 DLC a quarter, next scheduled for August, which is right on schedule. (it even says this on that blasted article)

    Thieves Guild? Not particularly large.

Dark Brotherhood? Not particularly large either.

I think some DLC will be smaller, some larger. We shall see.

The amount of doom and gloom and "end is nigh, sky is falling" posts around here are getting ridiculous.

I agree with this, although I'll need another "Wrothgar-sized" DLC to be assured that we will still get bigger DLC instead of only TG/DB-sized DLC. I think Vvardenfell will put my worries to rest.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

You make it sound like they're a business or something and that the individual livelihood of employees and their families might depend on the financial success of their product.

But seriously. These guys are people with jobs and families to feed. They work at a company, that sells a product.

Well, they need to seriously consider incorporating Arenas, fixing the lag in cyrodil if they do not a want a good portion of their loyalty subs to leave. The replay value is not great atm.

This is typical of any game's life cycle. As players themselves become bored with this or that, they tend to project that the game itself is the problem rather than their own lack of enthusiasm for it. That is, that everyone must feel as they feel.

I think the game is just fine. There are a few things on my wish list, but I plan to be around for awhile. When I feel differently, I'll move on to the next thing.

On a related subject, OF COURSE developers are interested in the money. This is a business, not a hobby for a bunch of guys in their parents' basements.

This game will die the death of many small cheating cuts before it dies to people not spending money on it.

People will spend money on stupid *** all day long if they like the company behind it. The death ain't coming from one direction if it comes, it will be slow and painful to watch

Arenas and pvp battlegrounds are in active development, as has been stated by the devs.

They will get talked about closer to them being released.

You have to cater to casual participants in every form of entertainment to survive. Hardcore fans of anything will always show up (even if only to complain) because that's what hardcore fans do. Casual fans are where your extraneous income comes from.

Learning about the new policy ZENIMAX Paul Sage decided to leave the company

I know how you feel but I honestly think you are making things up. Nowhere did I read that Paul left because of the direction of the company. People leave for various reasons, more than likely Paul just felt like his job was complete at Zenimax and wanted a new challenge.

It is sad that this game is turning into the land of the noobs. If a noob can not complete something - nerf it. If a noob cries about it - nerf it. If a nood does not have time play the game - nerf it.

They might as well just give new players level 50 and 501ap right out of the box.

Just to compound on this, he went to go work for Gearbox, which is made up of NCSoft employees, whom worked for Paul for years before ESO, and Paul was instrumental in getting the game off its feet.

It seems to me he likes getting games built, not maintaining them and I can seriously understand why. Game was ready for gold release on console, his job was done time to move on to next project.

The konk and maria are the two that I think left in protest, but obviously thats my opinion
