What do I do now? (PC). Also, my antivirus isn't able to scan the entire update?

Can you launch the EXE directly?

I don't know if an AV program could scan the patch, as it is downloaded, then applied to the game, so there is nothing to really scan. Then again, I have never tried to run an AV Scan on a game patch like this.

To that end, it might be better to not have your AV enabled when patching the game.

As for fixing your issue, it may require a Reinstall of the game, although if your game is complete, you don't have to download it all again. Which is why I am wondering if you can get the game launched.

Also, System Restore might be able to help you, not sure. But, try going back a day if you can. Then the game should re-patch again.

I'm not even sure what to do for that. Can you give me an idea where to look?

I went looking around in the program files. Found a locked launcher.exe folder with today's date, and then found launcher application (same as exe?) with 2Jun on it. Clicked that and the launcher opened, and then the locked file disappeared and now my desktop icon works again. Had no idea what I was doing, but your advice allowed me to stumble into a fix. TYVM for that.

That being said, what just happened? I don't know much about clients and launchers, but I am hearing a lot of 32/64 chatter. Is that what just changed?

Glad you got it sorted, kudos.

I just got home and updated mine. All that was updated was the Launcher, not the game. Anyway, if you use the Launcher, you get the 32 bit version. The 64 bit has to be launched manually. It is in the same place you found the Launcher.exe. Just make a shortcut to either the 32 or 64 bit and place it on your desktop (Right Click, Send To, Desktop (Create Shortcut). Then you only have to use the Launcher on patch days.

As for what happened in your case, the file name for the launcher changed or the shortcut got confused about the file name. Probably by running the launcher file directly, you did something to make windows recognize it again.

System Restore is something you should learn about, as it can fix many PC issues related to updating or installing or even most viruses. It is a little different for Windows 10 and Windows 7, so google your OS name and system restore for details.

Thank you, I will look into it. Anything to help make things easier. I really appreciate the help, especially since zos doesn't seem to want to be bothered.

If I may ask, how do I tell the 32 and 64 launchers apart, to make the shortcut? I only saw one clickable launcher. That was labeled as an application, not an .exe, but it was the only one I could click.

It's working. For anyone else who has similar problems, I was trying to start from within the launcher folder. Instead of clicking the app in Launcher, I should have been in c > program files (x86) > Zenimax Online > The Elder Scrolls Online > game > client and double-click on either ESO or ESO 64.
