Did all abilities get a cost increase with the new patch?

I've noticed that all my templar abilities now cost more, despite having the same gear and CP distribution as prior to the latest patch, so I was wondering if all abilities have gotten an increase in cost?

    Yep.

Several folks (including myself) were talking about it in a different thread. I'm a little bitter the devs didn't really mention this (aside from an ESO Live snippet). To be fair, a change this big really should have been talked up a bit more.

However, I'm coming around to the idea. I think the rationale was to place a higher value on cost reduction passives. And I'm okay with that.

They stated this was a direct result of the calculations from VR and CP... and that because of those calculations, that a 'slight' increase would be seen across the board. When pushed further, they seemed to direct players to start utilizing cost reduction enchantments.

Yes, they did, and despite the protest, on many different things in this update, ZOS just said, basically 'deal with it'

One thing that crossed my mind earlier: I wonder if this will change the racial meta.

For example, I'm building my Stamina Nightblade right now. I went with Bosmer for the Stamina regen, but I'm wondering if it might be more beneficial to run with a Magicka race in order to defray the increased cloaking costs.

Before DB went live, I could pump out 8-9 cloaks before tanking my Magicka; now it's 4-5, tops.

I guess I'm wondering if the new meta will be "play to your weaknesses" instead of "play to your strengths" with respect to racial choices.

    Hmmm? :|

I believe part of the reasoning also was to make the game more strategic. You no longer can theoretically spam a defensive skill to prolong 1v1 pvp fights. It makes choosing what offensive and defensive skills you plan on using in pvp to lean a bit more towards cost effectiveness, I suppose.

But, I'm a pver so I literally have no idea what I'm talking about. I cant even play pvp with the current lag.

With this patch i find more difficult choices on many many fronts.

Honestly, the previous meta was OVERKILL and OVERDO and not much else.

    MAX damage and crit... period.

IF shields are your def, max shields... period.

if dodge is your defense.... max dodge.

if heal is your def.... max heal.

One surge to heal them, two shields to rule them al. (and eq variation for other sta or mag classes.)

before Db, i had several champion trees with branches at 100 or at least into 70s.

    Not now.

Now most of my champion branches are at 45 or below with cp spread out over offense, defense and sustain with sorc and nb and even temp boosting healing given and healing recieved. Points significant into both red cost and trait regen.

Since Cp get less efficient as you stack higher values, this seems to work well and provide good results.

No more mighty+100 or its mag equ. with also the DOT as maxed as possible too.

Now, of course, class by class and gear by gear the spreads and distributions vary but it seems like exposing any weakness is riskier now than before.

I like that dynamic... makes more options possible, even the "go 100s" and then play to mitigate the deficit.

I'm REALLY starting to come around on this. The idea that building a particular set of strengths comes with corresponding downsides SERIOUSLY appeals to me. I think that the removal of characters who can do it all - and then some - is good for the game.
