Something needs to be done about mournhold Edit: Inconvenient place to try and accept daily pledges

For at least a few months now the capital of deshaan, Mournhold, has been very unstable. By unstable I mean a noticable amount of lag, disconnects, etc exists in mournhold that doesnt exist in other areas. The worst part about it is when you park your character (log off in) mournhold it can take you minutes, hours, or even days to be able to log back into that character.
I believe this is caused by over population in mournhold, so if that is the cause here are a few probable solutions:
1. Lower the limit of people allowed in a single instance of mournhold.
2. Allow players to accept undaunted daily pledges in another or multiple locations (so we arent forced to come to mournhold).
Im not trying to complain i just expect to be able to play the game in its entirety seeing as i initially paid $60 for the game and spend another $15/month on eso plus. Not to mention the $100-$200 dollars ive spent on the crown store for mounts, repair kits, motifs, etc. So please ZOS fix mournhold!

    This must be a solely Mournhold issue, as Elden Root and Stormhaven never act this way. Maybe spread the city out more? I've noticed Mournhold is a more cramped city than the other two capital cities.

    Well if it wasn't the single most convenient trading and crafting spot that all 3 alliances are allowed to go to, it would be much more stable.

    There simply need to be more sensible locations like Mournhold.

    Mournhold is locked for both DC and AD until they reach level 50.

    The only city all characters can always reach is the Hollow City.

    And by the way, Rawl'Kha is very convenient and busy as well. ;)

    Haven't seen this behavior myself. It gets a little choppy when there are lots of people around but I've never had it drop or disconnect me.

    This. They're not there for any legit reason. They gather in front of the Crafting Hall, and do a number of things.

    Stand there.

    Spam AoE abilities at each other cause they think it's cool.

    Stand there and throw insults around Area Chat cause they think it's cool.

    A minority are actually there to craft, shop the traders, or are going through the Questing. The only reason I go there is to browse the traders and then I'm right back out, can't stand the cluster.

    To me this definitely seems to be a Mournhold issue. I have characters do undaunted pledges and writs for all 3 alliances and only have regular load lag issues in Mournhold. Sometimes after a dungeon run I end up crashing when the system tries to take me back there and it can take 2 or 3 goes to get onto that character - even though the other characters are not having any delays.

    Not sure if it is the large number of people running around spamming near the wayshrine causing it but when you have the guild traders, wayshrine, all crafting stations and the writ boards in very close proximity, it is always going to be a busy place. It may simply be that the other alliances don't suffer from the same issue because they have all of these facilities spread out rather than clumped together in a small area.

    Haven't noticed any of these issues. Frame rate can drop a little when it's crowded but its always stable. I'm on the PC NA server.

    Ahhh, good old Laghold.

    I don't have many lag issues since I updated my computer, but I used to have to port to a nearby wayshrine and ride into the city to pick up pledges because I had to battle multiple loading screen bosses when porting to the Mournhold wayshrine. Maybe try doing that in the meantime? It's annoying but it fixed the instability for me.

    ^ Posting again because I wholeheartedly agree with this, I don't understand why we can't pick pledges up in the other alliance territories once we've unlocked them (since we're more or less at a level to undertake pledges upon reaching Cadwell's silver).

    They should update the hollow city, maybe to all who have completed the main quest line. Make it a haven for crafters and traders because lord knows we need more trading kiosks. The bidding costs are ridiculously high now. They could put a new special undaunted camp there. Or maybe even make the mages guild city (can't remember the name) a place players want to go back to. It's a lovely scene but I have no reason to go back there.

    And who gets barred from Mournhold? You cant decide a certain limit to the game.People paid to play everywhere that is open.Mournhold is very popular,so they love to go there and hang out.

    On Xbox, Elden Root is just as bad.

    My AD characters crash in Elden Root at least once like clockwork every time I travel there, usually around the undaunted enclave. I used to crash three times per visit, but have taken to porting into the Elden Hollow dungeon, switching to first person view, walking to the enclave while staring at my feet, then traveling out from the enclave directly using the "travel to player" option. Typically the disconnect happens right before or right after I pick up or turn in the quest.

    I never leave anyone in Grahtwoot when logging our, ever. Last time I did, I could not play that character until two days later. I hate Grahtwoot.
    There is even a whole thread in the Xbox support section for characters that hot stuck places, after the last update, and a very large percentage (over half) were in Elden Root.

    Right there, make it so using spells or abilities within a city is a criminal offense that will give you a bounty, that should, stop most people.

    This! If there are no players in this area, like in the working days at morning, it's stable.
    Sometimes in peak time I choose a wayshrine away from the city and enter it by main gate just to give my pc some more time to load all the surroundings and players.

    These instances of city locations already exist, ever gone to a crowded area to look for someone and they're not there even though they say they're standing right at your location?

    To put yourself into the same instance as a friend or guild-mate in these crowded areas you have to teleport to them from the guild roster or friends list. You just never see this happen during normal play to really notice it, unless you're looking for it. And it has happened to me many times in Daggerfall with guildies.

    Yes! I always get three loading screens from the Mournhold wayshrine to the Undaunted camp. It's particularly frustrating when the group is waiting for you to pick up the pledge because each loading screen takes a lot of time.

    some quests require violence in a city though so that may not work, some enemies are VERY close to if not in city borders so this may also be an issue

    On Xbox na, I and many guildies call elden root 'crash wood'. There's an amount of dread in the chore of picking up the daily pledges, because of the necessity of going to crash wood.

    Yesterday I was in the undaunted enclave and crashed. Should have entered via the temple shrine.

    i dont see your point. Im saying limit number of players per instance. even if that means creating more instances so that each instance is at least playable 100% of the time. not saying this is this perfect solution. im just implying that there must be a solution to the mournhold lag; and quite frankly it isnt my job to find that solution. I just figured id throw out a few ideas to silence those who say "quit complaining and offer a solution".

    Why would you change the name of a very important city that has been in the Elder Scrolls series? Do you know anything about it in the lore of the games?
