Instant V16??

Ok I understand we are losing vet ranks, and that cp will take their place. And that cp are account bound not char bound.
So, I like new characters..... new slots are just fine by me.
BUT. When my baby char reaches lvl 49, I have always felt that that is really when I learn how to play her.... through the vet ranks. OK usually by vet 8 or 9 I have all the skills levelled I might want and it gets a bit tedious. So now she reaches lvl 50 and is instantly vet 16? (I have long since reached cp cap). But I am still not confident on how to play her. So calling her a cp160 is misleading really, because I have not completely got it, the skills, the rotations etc.
Maybe cp should be char bound not account. After all vet ranks were char bound.

You will still get the hang of it if you play the character often. Making CP character bound would mean a lot of grinding, would be super hard for players to get each character to CP 160. You've been V16 and you know what it takes to grind CP.

The whole purpose of the vet-rank-removal was to lessen the needed grind. If you'd instead make CP character-bound, you would not only nullify that but also significantly prolongate the grind.

Your idea is entirely contrary to the desired effect of the vet-rank-removal.

There is a lot of content you can test your build with in the lower levels.

The whole idea of removing the vet ranks was to get rid of the tedious and unnecessary grind they are and let the CP system take over as an account wide progression system. Would be pointless if CP became character bound.

Making cp char bound would upset a lot of people and ruin it for them, especially those doing things like VET MOL. Just because you're instantly vet 16 doesn't mean you can't stick around in the pve zones, do quests and learn all about your skills.

Plus i don't seem to remember reading anywhere that your skill lines would be instantly increased to max, so presumably you're still going to have that experience of having to level them up and opening new skills exactly the same as you would before?

I understand that. But sticking a label on my char as cp160 when I honestly feel she should be wearing L plates is misleading other players.
So can I switch off the label, name plate thing and carry on knowing in my heart she is vet 1 or 2?

OP I understand your concern and this is the exact reason I am against the removal of VR because now we will have a massive population of unskilled players. The good news ? because they are max lvl now their skills will level up faster so perhaps in a way... Some distant unseen way for the time being it is a good thing.

This will also make balancing skills and classes SO MUCH EASIER for Wrobel that even though I am very much against making the game ez mode by removing 16 levels I think it's going to be good for the overall game experience.

The masses of unskilled players will just have to learn how to play over time, ask for help or watch guides

But your suggestion that CP should be char bound is the worst thing I have heard since the extermination of the Snow Elves...

You could maybe not allocate the cp, and use gear scaled to the zone you're playing. Might give you the challenge you need. You just won't gain any XP for Caldwell's Silver anymore.

You don't have to give your char any CPs at all if you don't want to.

(btw I think making them char based instead of account wide is an awesome idea even if only to watch everyone throw a hissy fit  )

Well gaining more cp is a bit useless as I can't allocate them anyway.

I did something yesterday which made me think. I went to the NA server where nothing crosses and made a baby templar. She has no cp, no mama provisoner, crafter, enchanter or alchemist to help her. Indeed she has no guild either.

And I know how to play a templar. BUT she was much harder to play than I expected. It was challenging because I had to play properly, just as she stood and no extra boomph from cp.

How so, if she hit the Cp cap she will only get full XP value for Caldwell's gold. As it is fully cp160. She will have out scaled the silver zones quite a bit.

When making XP calculations, your level is effectively capped at the highest droppable item level. When Dark Brotherhood goes live, the highest item level will be CP 160, so any player with more than CP 160 will be evaluated as CP 160 for the XP calculation. As a result, you will get full XP for killing CP 160 monsters. If you were killing CP 120 monsters, you would earn 75% XP and CP 110 or lower monsters would be worth 30% XP.

I stand corrected. I thought there was a null zone, like standard levels. You exceed by 5 levels and you get zilch. Didn't know they lumped everything under 110 into the 30% category. Still miniscule XP gain. Do the skill point quests and bounce to gold.

Yeah, the main quests would be for skill points. The op doesn't seem to be bothered about extra CP so she could use the silver zone to level up skills and try them out.

I hate it that they have account bound leveling of any kind, I want it on a character by character basis, I find the CP leveling horrible, I want to be able to put the work in to level up my character, not just instantly have it, horrible fail in my opinion. I agree with the original poster, leveling should be character bound, not account bound.

Being optimal at your level is largely dependant on the player and their personal goal and knowledge of the game when creating builds.

For example, I have v1 MagNB and Sorc (plus others I'm levelling in prep) ready to be at 160CP when DB comes. I already know most of the gear, skills and rotations they'll be using, along with the skill lines nearly maxed. Granted, for a little while I'll be suboptimal until I've unlocked the remaining passives but that's marginal IMO as the aforementioned factors have much more of an impact on performance than getting an additional 1 Ultimate every 4 seconds, an extra few seconds on Shadow abilities and an extra few % crit damage.

There's currently a problem with misleading people due to the V16 title as I've seen some using really odd and suboptimal builds. This will increase with DB but whether it's now, then, or in a years time; without viewing character sheets, skills slotted and seeing them perform there will always be a chance of misleading people.

Also, making CPs character specific is a truly terrible idea that will only massively increase our grind more than it currently is. It completely negates the point of DB changes and nobody wants that.

When they say that CP's are account bound, is that you can spend them on all characters.
You start earning CP as far as CP level goes for your character after you reach level 50. Then you can spend those CP points that you earn on each character.

Im not really sure why it would matter. There is barely any content in this game that needs you to be all maxed out on your characters, and none of that you can just randomly group into.

So if you are so worried about people looking down at you or you lettings some one down with your skill, stay out of trials? That is pretty much it. Everything else is pretty much doable. And if it isnt it soon will be as the dungeon nerfing marches on.
