Why does it still require me to re-log whenever I am expecting mail from a player or a guild trader?

Its your level of patience that drives you to relog. The mail will show up, eventually.

However, you don't need to relog, that is a waste of time.

    1. Go into or out of the Outlaw Refuge
    2. Go to another Zone.
    3. Port to a Friend, Guildmate or Group member, even if they are in the same zone (this reloads the zone)
    4. Go into or out of a Delve that reloads the zone, most delves do this, but not all.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Not true many times it bugs and it doesn't show up until you relog, the mail system in this game is supposed to be instant so it has nothing to do with patience but with a long standing bug that has been in the game for as long as i can remember.

I'm not sure about that. The other day I happened to be busy with other things anyway, so I waited. 45 minutes later, still no mail. How patient are we supposed to be?

But I agree on not relogging because it is a time waster. I typically use an Outlaw's Refuge unless I am needing to go to another zone anyway.

My question is, why does this happen only sometimes? I do find it very annoying when I am cancelling guild store items because of price change and want to just immediately relist them - about 40% of the time they will be in the mail as soon as I leave the guild store window, and the other 60% they will never show up until I give up and leave to rezone. I'd actually be happier if it was consistent. I also find it curious because in every other game I have played, buying things from an auction put the item immediately in the mail, and it was only mail from other players (with attachments) that would take a longer time to arrive.

Yes, that's me. Lol. Mostly those purchases from the guild stores. Most of the times, it does show up instantly. Those lagging, I would log off and back on again to get the mail. It's about the same efforts as wayshining to another area.

I think the real question is: why don't we have a proper in-game mail client, already?
Even on the internet, clear communication is important; it can be the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" and "helping your uncle jack off a horse"; the difference between "knowing your s***" and "knowing you're s***".

It's ridiculous. They couldn't just add an intractable courier npc in towns where you could trigger the mail script to run by talking to them, or even a mailbox that does the same thing. Either option would be better than having to spend five minutes relogging and waiting in loading screens. It's beyond lazy if you ask me.

They apparently designed mail to be a low priority background task. It probably runs when the server is not lagging. Like with all the decisions that appear to be bugs or misguided, they apparently want it that way. For "reasons."

If it is something that runs based on server load, I have to wonder whether forcing it to run by zoning or logging in and out puts more load on the servers that just delivering the mail in a timely manner.

Would not call it game breaking as such, more of a annoyance. Plenty of times I've had to log in and out to get mail from guild traders. Going to other zones, etc, does not always work.

N'ah. The courier assistant won't be added until Q2 of 2017 for 5,000 crowns. Just like the banker and merchant assistant.

I had to complete a provisioner writ, bought corn, waited.

Nothing happened, decided to NOT log out, and, instead, check how much time was needed for the mail to arrive, went completing other things, quests and such.

Phone rang, somebody from work, had an emergency, went Afk.

Sat somewhere started browsing pics on imgur.

    Guildmates logged in, chat ensued.

Hours went by, forgot about the mail, logged out for the night.

Relogged the next day, heard a *ding*.

    Mail arrived.

    Please, don't say patience...

That said, relogging is pretty quick, doesn't really pose a problem, so... meh, wouldn't call it gamebreaking.

It's not beyond ZOS......surely.......to make this more efficient. Got a similar issue when you buy Crowns from the store. The little things do add up ZOS.
