Character Slots

Hey guys so we all know Char slots purchases are coming end of the month.

There has been a lot of speculation about the pricing for this and most people believe it to be 2000 - 2500 crowns / character slot.

I am making this post in an effort to kind ly request Zenimax to show kindness to the altoholics out there and give a discounted price if people take all 4 slots as a package.

A Buy 4 get it for X special price -type deal.

Similar to the crown store exp scrolls which are discounted for the x5 vs just buying a single one.

I am just going to use the number 5000 for the sake of the argument...

Think of it this way if you have say two hundred thousand people who are willing to buy at least one character slot that's a lot of crowns...
Along with that you have about at least another fifty thousand people or so who will probably buy at least two character slots... that's a lot of crowns!

Then you have a couple of people who will buy all four or three of the four character slots.

So you will make a ton of money sure.

HOWEVER

If you make it say 5000 for all 4 and 1500-1800 for one character slot more people will buy all four.

Now you have say instead of say 200 000 people buying it at full price and making good money sure, you now have let's say half a million people who buy the packs at 5k for 4 character slots...

That's more money the numbers are nearly double simply because well look at any large corporation which sells products for the masses at affordable prices and how much money they make, vs smaller corporations which sell premium products.

While this margin is usually small it's safe to assume it's usually at least 25% larger in profits.

What do you guys think?

Honestly I HOPE it's that price also but given the prices of mounts we know it's possible they charge 2k upwards / slot which will make me sad.

There are only 4 possible character slots that can be purchased per account. This diminished the benefit for Zos to offer a 4 pack deal on character slots.

Expect them to only sell one per. Maybe bundled with other items at time but not with itself.

Yes, 4000 for all 4 slots - 1500 each separately - that is what I would consider a fair offer for both sides. In that case I would buy the next 6 months of subscription, buy those 4 slots and do those races, which I do not have yet - Nord, Orc, Dunmer - and I want another imperial and try something new with that one. My new nord would need that nord warrior costume, because that looks somewhat nice IMO - and another mount or 2 would be nice as well - so there go the crowns coming with the subscription - I will have to buy some more. But if the price for slots is unreasonable, nothing of that will happen.

Mine would be Nord, Argonian ( both races I deleted in order to make space ), then also have some fun with the last 2 chars since I have no idea what I want to make them

Why not, I have quite some fun with my bosmer lady - she is in EP though, a small bosmer lady among those big nords - she is quite well received there, not many bad comments about bosmers in EP. My Argonian in AD is not that welcome there, a lot of nasty comments about Argonians. No wonder my bosmer fled AD, my Argonian is having a hard time in AD.

Edit: sorry had to correct the alliance - my Argonian is in AD - DC is much more tolerant towards all races.

I intend to put my Orc into DC - where I have already 6 chracters - Nord and Dunmer into EP - and my new imperial into AD - that I have 2 characters there as well. So in the end I will have

7 characters in DC
3 characters in EP
2 characters in AD

As for the genders, I am not certain yet - I have just 1 male argonian and I should really do something for gender equality and make all new ones male - but ... I feel more comfortable with my own gender. So not sure, what to do yet.

I'll have no use for them as I'm an one character only, but 1,500 seems fair for the individual slot.

I am hoping they realize that if people purchase more character slots, it also means more long-term investment into the game, especially for things like riding skills, mounts, costumes, etc. Sometimes I create a character and realize that a 'yet unpurchased' costume would work perfectly for them but didn't work for any of my other characters, same goes for mounts and pets.

That is one of the reasons, to want new characters as well. Like with the nord warrior costume for example, I like it, but it does not match the style of any of my characters, but it would be perfect for a nord of course. I have 8 characters already and I got attached to them. I like to play each of them in her own right and I cannot delete any of them by that reason, I am too attached to them, even they are all not that far into the game. So I want additional characters. I once have sacrificed an Orc for an Argonian, but I should have kept her, I sometimes miss that character, so I am not going to delete one of those I have now. I thought about if I could choose one of them again - but that is like asking a mother which of her children to give away - none.

Edit: mounts, yes, perfect example - as long as I did not have a character in EP, I did not come to the idea to get a bear mount. Strangely enough my small bosmer lady is riding this majestic creature now, but it fits the landscape in EP very well and as small as she is, she looks good on her cave bear, those two are a team now.

This totally - I will buy a slot whatever the price, but if it's too high I will probably only buy one if it's reasonable I will buy all 4 and being the crazy Altoholic that I am I will, spend even more crowns kitting them all out

yeah it would be a good idea to have a discounted price for character slots even though in this game my althooism has not started yet i know how you feel i got too many alts in Wow. I hope for you there is a bundle haha.

Not bad, I was expecting them to cost way more but glad they are cheaper than I expected. I'll probably buy all 4 since I'm an alt fanatic.

I'm really looking forward to making new characters. Somehow I don't have any of the EP races. If they are reasonably priced I will buy all 4. I haven't planned out any of the characters yet, though most likely the dark elf will be a dk. I wish Nords had better racial passives or at least some dps in there. Argonians have the best names but not sure what direction I would go in regards to class either.

I've been saving my Crowns until I found out the char Slot cost. Now I have some extras to splurge on something cool, maybe a Wolf Mount?

Many thanks for the link, I hadn't noticed there was a new DB article!

I think 1500 is reasonable and definitely makes me want to buy more character slots, probably won't buy 4 at one time though as 6000 is a bit much for me to spend in one go without having palpitations (yes I am a skinflint!)

Honestly this game is so massive I can only stomach having my main character, even with the changes being made to VR levels. Just knowing I'm missing all those skill points, sky shards, ledger man level, undaunted level, mages guild books, etc.

I have more than one VR16 and I just can only play my alts for so long until I feel like I need to get back on my main. It is most likely my problem though since I like to complete everything...

I need character slots for a Nord and for a Redguard, but I'll wait to see if new characters will appear at the bottom of the list or at the top like on PTS. I want to keep my main character on the top of the list.

About the price, I was expecting something between 800 and 1000 Crowns each, based on the prices of character slots in other MMOs. But I'm good with 1500 too. I might get only one character slot then, though.

I am a completionist too. However, I now don't mind if the content is completed on one character or many. So, while my Alts may do some things the main has not, or vice versa, they don't get jealous anymore.

Besides, leveling an Alt that does not have to care about Achievements, or completing a zone or learning to craft or any of that is so refreshing and gives me much more freedom than I thought I would have. Now, I can look at an uncompleted zone and know that I have already saved these people and not feel guilty.
