Disguises

I'm was wearing the Steel Shrike Uniform disguise because I like the simplicity of it.

However, it still stays on even if I died. I thought they were removed after you are hit? Am I wrong?

You are right; but, I'm thinking that may just be if you are actively doing the quest that the disguise was for. If you like it then I wouldn't worry about it.

^This. I have my Templar in the Bleakrock Bandit disguise and he's died dozens of times without losing it.

If you still have it after the quest is done, then you pretty much get to keep it, although, you have to be careful when going to do another quest that involves a disguise because you will likely loose it at that point. Make sure to unequip it when you go to do any other quest like that.

I really wish they would put in a collections for just disguises so we can keep the ones we really like without risking their loss.
Far too many characters to list any more.

Cool, so it's effectively a costume I've not bought or unlocked!

That won't be a problem, I never use disguises, I'm a total hoarder. I've got all (I think) of the non-armour clothing as well even though I'll never use them!

It Does disappear when hit - but only when hit by the mobs it functions as disguise against, once you get past the quest it is used for and out of the area where it makes mobs "yellow", it functions just like any costume.

It would still have been great if they removed the disguise at the end of the matching quest, and gave you the same visuals as a costume on your collection tabs... easier on the inventory too. Oh, well, maybe someday they'll refit that...

I've done that too. It just ends up in your inventory. And I think you can back track to pick up the disguise again, but that may depend on the quest (Hatching Pools still have chests lying around that let you loot the egg minder disguise. I'm less sure about some of the rest.)
