Hi,
I don t quite understand the difference between "armor focus"/"Spell shield" and "elemental defender"/"hardy"

one raises resistance, the other reduces the damages, that I understood, but what is better for PVP,
for the moment I have 11k spell and physical resist and 20% damages reduction, I ve been told that I need at least 15k resi for PVP, is it even possible with a medium armor or do I need to go full heavy armor and shield to be competitive?

thanks

IMO do not waste your time with Armor Focus/Spell Shield. These raise your resistances by a flat amount. If your resistance is at 33,150 you are at the resistance cap, which mitigates 50% damage. Anything over 33,150 is wasted (unless someone applies major fracture/breach). 33,150/50= 663. So every time you increase your resistance by 663, it is essentially 1% increased resistance.

If I am not mistaken, placing 100 CP in Armor Focus/Spell Shield will give you a 5280 increase to that stat. 5280/663=7.96 or roughly 8% increased mitigation.

On the other hand 100 CP in Elemental defender/Hardy provides 25% resistance to magic/elemental(ele defender), or poison/physical (hardy). These are also % resistances that cannot be negated my weapon or spell penetration.

Basically you get a lot more mitigation out of your CP by investing in Ele defender/hardy. If PVP is the focus, depending on your build you may want to invest in Resistant as well to reduce crit damage. I currently run 60 in hardy, 60 in elemental defender (providing 17.5% resistance to both mag/phys damage) on my stamina character to get the "unchained" passive, and then put my last 47 CP in resistant.
