I had the same question and asked in guilds and in AD Grahtwood.
Everyone responded with something along the lines of this -> You'll only be able to use the weapons and armour scaled to the amount of Champion Points that your specific character has earned.
First I thought that my level 50 would be able to wear awesome CP 160 gear
Then I was told that he'd only be able to wear CP however-many-he's-earned gear.

Was I right the first time?

You will be level 50 with 240 CP(+2.5 cp per vet level of your highest character)... Which would be the same as a VR 16 with 240 CP now... You will be able to equip the highest current gear which is for 160+ CP.

I had the same question and asked in guilds and in AD Grahtwood.

CP are per account, not per character. So if you reach level 50 and have 160 CP or more from other characters on your account that new level 50 will be able to equip 160 CP gear. If this is your first character you will be given 10CP upon reach level 50, you can only wear up to 10CP gear till you get more CP.

This is why we ask questions on the forums and not in game... You were right, they are wrong. Very wrong.

This was interesting to read, I had it all wrong this whole time, I thought you needed to reach level 50 or VR1 (pre-DB release) in order to be "max rank" however if you have 160 or more CP you are able to wear any max lvl gear seeing as the max level stuff ( Rubedite, Rubedo, Ancestor Silk, Ruby Ash are tied to the 160 CP not a specific level ).

Still not sure if the information in this thread is true but if it is, there is no point in leveling alts beyond level 30 much less to VR1... or Vr16 at the current stage.

If you have 160, that is across your account.

When you start a new character, you need to get it to the old vet 1. As soon as you do, you're basically vr16. That is equivalent to 160CP so will be able to wear old vr16 gear. But you still need to get to VR1 to be VR16.

I tested this specific topic on PTS,

Took a lvl49 template character with 300 cp,
at lvl 49 i have 60 attribute points,
when i levelled him to lvl 50 i got the last 4 attribute points and i could wear cp160 gear..

so you only need to do the grind from 0cp - 160cp once on your account..... yooooohooooo...

    so DB Lvl50 with 160cp = TG VR16 with 160CP

Exactly. They nerfed the grind - in a good way this time.

You need to get to CP 160 once, from then on your alts just need to hit 50. And with the new Training trait changes it will be a piece of cake (like 100% xp cake that is).

On PTS right now, silver 30% of standard exp, gold 100% standard... BUT I believe it was mentioned this was a known bug and will be fixed, so they should both be 30% since you are well over the 50 CP margin, by the time it goes live.

New players or anyone with very little CPs will still have to "grind" to 160 CPs and be lvl 50 to wear VR16 lvl "160" cp gear.

The grind is gone for Alts of players who have more then 160 CP , now instead of grinding an alt to VR16 you stop at lvl 50 and all your VR 16 or 160 CP gear is wearable.

So VR grind is gone for Alts for existing players basically.

Although a problem could arise if a currently VR16 player doesn't have 160 CPs , after DBs they cant wear their VR 16 / 160 CP gear.... not likely that will happen though lol.

Somehow I am betting this is exactly why they have changed the TRAINING trait to give increased XP per enemy instead of XP on a skill line. With only getting 30% XP in Cadwell's, wearing full set of Training traits will help us earn more XP in those zones.

The issue with these lvl 50 max rank chars will be skill points you will find yourself doing the story related quests for the skill points and still having to track down all those pesky skyshards by which time you should have been halfway to max rank anyhow.

They can. You get 40CP if you have atleast one VR16 character and additional CP up to (10*VR ) CP. So you will be able to wear your previous gear. It doesn't matter how much CP you have atm.

If I do not have a v16 when this change occurs, will my characters be able to reach the same cp level as somebody that had a v16 pre-patch? I had read something about v16 getting bounus cp, which would mean they would be at a level a new player could never reach. I hope that I simply misunderstood the conversion. I believe it was the 40cp mentioned in the post above mine.

You were right, originally. The post he was responding to was incorrect. Hence, his clarification.

You can NOT wear CP-160 gear on a character who's level 30, even if your account has 500 CP. You need to get to level 50 (or "the old VR1" as he put it) before you can wear the gear.

CP-160 gear requires CP of at least 160, AND level 50.

So while you can have and distribute all your account CP on any character of any level, you can't equip the CP gear until you are also level 50.

    This right here.

You still have to get to level 50. New gear requirements for endgame gear is level 50 AND X Amount of CP.

Not sure how OP is earning CP on a nonVet toon currently.

When the next DLC hits live you will gain (2.5*VR)CP for your highest character + additional CP if you still have less than 10*VR CP. People with one VR16 char will therefore get 40CP, someone with a V4 Char at max will get 10 CP. But everyone is only able to spend 501CP so you can catch up. You also get CP faster than someone with more CP.
