Yes, we're all doing the same quest anyway.

no... simply because the different alliances have very different places on the servers.. if you merge all of them togheter it means that we would have the MASSIVE population of all the three alliances playing together in the very same place and we'd end up having:

    1. to pick different servers to play anyway like every other mmo
    2. more lag then we currently have in cyrodill were all of the alliances already play together

Couldn't they add multiple instances? So that everyone isn't on the same instance and causing lag?

You mean like we already have different "PvP campain" so that pvpers will distribute stressing the single "instance" less and it just does not work? :P and you've got to consider that PvPers are not the ENTIRE playerbase we would have playing togheter in the PvE maps but a fraction of it.

Different instances does not solve the lag this would cause.

I would say it doesn't matter to me either way, but I don't like the idea of it being that crowded so I'd rather it stay the way it is.

I'm not sure doing that for places like Hew's Bane and Wrothgar would be a good idea, as I still know people who get a lot of lag in those zones and I think this would make it worse.

Craglorn, however? That place could use a population boost. It might be easier to find a group if you were allowed to do so cross-faction instead of picking from 1/3 of the player base.

Wrothgar and Craglorn are technically DC zones.

I'm conflicted on the question though. It'd be nice to play alongside friends that made characters in other factions, but at the same time, I feel that I don't really do question with other people unless it's Craglorn. If anything, I'd just like being able to set up cross-faction dungeon groups easily without having to use the grouping tool, and I'd like to have an option in the group menu to toggle battle leveling the group without having to use the grouping tool.

In theory, yes, it'd be awesome, and it's never really made sense to me (from an RP, non-technical standpoint, at least) that we don't already share the same space, at least in places like Coldharbour.

In practice, however, I sincerely doubt the servers would be able to take the strain.

Alliance choice is a choice. Other alliances are *enemies* and that's how it should feel in the game. So unless there's overland PvP everywhere, I don't want to see "enemies", fight along with "enemies", even get to know "enemy players".

If it were up to me, alliance choice would be account wide, we couldn't group with toons from other alliances via grouping tool, and guilds would be alliance specific.

Just my preference... since you asked to explain "why".

I feel like with faction separation in PVE, ZOS is arteficially spreading the population. Which is fine to an extent as long as the player base is large. However, the population is already spread between PS4, XBOX and PC EU and PC NA servers. ZOS is also in the habit of continually expanding the game world.

I just wonder if this arteficial separation is sustainable in the future when population might drop and/or the game world is a lot larger: zones might bleed dry. A more flexible system where factions are mixed in PvE zones and overflow zones open up when a population cap is reached (similar to Guild Wars 2's system), might prove more dureable in the long run, helping to maintain the population of even less popular maps. This of course has its downsides, but in ESO less so than in GW2, where a lot of meta-events heavily rely on timers and map population to be able to complete them (so having to switch to another version of the same map can ruin your run).

Also, the current separation makes it hard for friends of different factions to do non-instanced content together.

I don't want to share same farm spots with all eso population. Curent system solves problems of overpopulation in quest zones and farm spots.
