A poll & A story - Thread about drops in ESO

This thread is a complain about the droping system / weekly rewards in the game.

In order to make the thread more interesting and way more useful i had an idea: I would like everybody that is interested in seeing changes on the system to tell us a story about himself and/or a friend of his about a bad looting experience:

Mine:

"Someone called @Lukefus had to run more than 150 times WGT in order to get SpellPower cure set. Most of it dropped sturdy/well-fitted. He tried for more than 4 months, entire afternoons of farming the dungeon."

"Today after a really hard time getting to the leaderboards, I get an Inferno Defending staff of Alkosh (wich is a stamina based set) at the same time I get whispered by some friends getting items wich are just completely useless. I've got a friend who runs weeklys on several characters and didn't get a single set with working traits/items."

"Another friend of mine @Sunwithlegs had to do silver and gold key mostly daily during 4-5 months in order to get his Molag Kena shoulder. He needed it in order to be competitive in his DPS build with his magicka Nightblade, he got it sturdy (or was it well-fitted?) 2 weeks ago."

And the question for the poll is: Do you think the droping system is good or bad in general?

Because I can't guess what the creators of the system and the guys behind the game think when they come up with those ideas. Phergaps they don't know this drives a lot of people mad and out of the game? Should they think about the feelings of the people who play the game? Or not? Does Zenimax Online Studios support players getting mad, worried and tired about these sets they need, do you support people farming for entire months without results? Could you explain it to us? Why so much RNG and useless items in weekly rewards and in drops in general? What do you want to achieve?

Also, if there's people voting "The system is good" wich there is. Could you explain us why? Why do you vote this option? It may aswel enlighten us all who voted "The system is bad" and help us understand why the system is the way it is.

#peace

    Oh look I'm famous!
The grind was real for Spell Power Cure. Opening a chest every day some weeks!
I finally got my fifth piece of the set two days ago (was missing one piece, a chest, a belt or boots, and did the dungeon 5+ times daily last week), but I'm still wearing a well-fitted and two reinforced pieces \o/

Hopefully with the traits being revamped in DB dlc, we'll be seeing less stupid gear? Well fitted, stamina on mage rings, magika on stam build rings, etc.

So, this happened about a week ago...

It was only memorable because he specifically asked rngesus for "heavy impenetrable" before engaging the boss... :o

Every single time I buy a gear piece or motif because I'm tired of weeks/months of farming for it....it drops for me the next day hahah. I can't do anything but laugh. Drops for motifs are pretty much nonexistent for me until I buy them from a guild trader & then I'll get multiple drops of the motifs I all ready have.

There's too much randomization involved for bind on pickup rewards that cannot be traded: Master Weapons, Maelstrom Weapons, Orsinium daily sets, boss shoulders. For boss helmets, there should be some measure that prevents someone from having extremely bad luck and not getting a single helmet when they killed the same dungeon end boss for 8+ times.

There is nothing wrong with RNG in theory. It is the loot system that a lot of MMOs and RPGs have been based on for years. The problem is the layers upon layers of RNG. So you want a Divines SPC sash? Well, upon killing a boss capable of dropping that piece, the following happens.

First Roll of the DICE: Do you get a set piece?
Second Roll: What set do you get?
Third Roll: What piece of the set to you get?
Forth Roll: What trait did you get?
Fifth Roll (sometimes applicable): What weight do you get?

I wont try and work a bunch of math, but its pretty clear that a lot has to go right for you to get the piece you are after. In the beginning of farming a new dungeon, it doesnt matter so much. Pretty much every piece is something you dont have, and even if the trait is not perfect, it's okay because it still helps you complete a set. Fast forward 200 runs. Now you are down to 1 or 2 specific pieces you need, and the 4 or 5 layers of RNG keep kicking you in the crotch over and over. The dungeon has now become an infuriating grind, with no end in sight.

WGT: I have run this place so many times. I dont have perfect traits, but I have at least one piece of everything except imperium gauntlets. So basically, every time I go in here, its a quest for one drop.

ICP: I have scathing set (gave up on other sets), but 2 pieces have bad traits. I am on a never ending quest for 2 very specific pieces. I might get them both in the next chest, I might not get them even if I run every day until 2017.

COA/COH: I have a great helm in divines from each, but both are light. Can't wear a light helm with scathing, so these are not grinds for a helm (which is a long shot) but rather its a grind for a very specific helm.

Gold/Silver Keys: Similiar to the helm, I have at least one of every shoulder in every weight. For whatever reason, all my good DPS shoulders in divines (kena, skoria, nerienth) are in light. Again, cant run with scathing so I am after 3 very specific weight/trait shoulders that might never come.

    I see 4 obvious solutions.
-First would be to implement a token system.
-Second, make RNG smarter. Prevent double drops, in addition to thinning the loot tables. Some drops simply shouldn't exist.
-Third, give players/crafters more control over their gear. Allow traits and or weights to be changed, albeit at a hefty cost. What if every final dungeon boss had a 1/20 chance of dropping a stone to let you "morph" your gear? People would still have to run content, but it would eliminate a lot of the frustration.
-Forth, eliminate BOP and replace with BOG (bind or group) or BOE.

They just need to pick one and go for it. 5 layers of RNG is not working to well if you ask me.

I don't mind weird traits, i can make it work more or less ( my pure PVE sorc still runs around with Impen Light Kena's shoulder and Infused light helm), but weird gold weapons for Alkosh and Moondancer sets just break my heart. There's grey area with swords since a lot of magicka users use them too, but i think something needs to be done.

Leaderboard rewards need to be fixed, since your reward varies from 0 (failed deconstruct) to infinity (amazing weapon/set/trait combo). I think it's reasonable to want it narrowed down a bit.
Skye Cloude - Sorc DPS, Master Crafter. Main, the bestest
Lae Lenne - Templar Healer Trial grade.
Dromede - Stamina Nightblade, she's a newb and doesn't know what she's doing
V'oghatta - Stamplar pretending to be a tank
Ulville Thonvella - aspiring Fire Mage, be careful around her fire sticks!
Dromedaris - lost and not found. Named after a shoe, what else can you expect from her? A proper tank in her wildest dreams
Swims-Naked - too pretty to grind, too silly to quest.
Sun Flair - Dunmer Templar that can't spell for life. To bad she's too broke to afford a name change... Well, at least she's pretty...

After two years, I finally got my engine guardian helm.

Yes, I know it was for sale over Easter weekend, but I was out of town and couldn't get online to buy one.
