Console updates - Why won't ZOS actually put the updates notes in the game like this?

Serious question because on Xbox one and ps4 there are a few games that list updates info within the game upon patches and updates. All the notes....

Why won't ZOS do this?

Here is an example of what I'd like ZOS to provide on consoles at the very least

As a console game it's like no other, in terms of complexity. If you bought the game and never went online I think you wouldn't understand half of it. I've had to come onto the forums for so much as it's a proper full on game as opposed to hack and slash console button smash, thus coming on to read the patch notes is really no problem

As a PS4 player myself, I see no problem in going online with my phone/computer and quickly taking the time to read through any official notes/changes that have been added.
You clearly have the ability to do this as well. since you're on here. Congrats! You've made it! Now go check out the patch notes section and you've got all the info you need.

i dont think its a delibrate action to get us to go to the forums, to be honest its probably a matter of time and money

it would cost money to work it in and test it, and cost time taken away from other projects they are working on

its not that difficult to get on a computer and get on the forums anyway, you wasting 2 min to get on the site is better than them wasting a day or more to implement it

everything costs money, especially the wages of those that work at ZOS. and again, the time thing

better we spend 2 min getting on the comp to check the forums for patch notes, than them spending a day or more workign the bugs out of what is suggested

Well speaking for Xbox one. It's not automatic. It has to be downloaded and then you have to type in the website, etc. again it's not a why don't ppl go to the forums post cause we know this. Because they don't want to and to be honest, there isn't a lot of info that shouldn't be in the game like all the other games that have updates. To be honest when I played on PC I just clicked the launcher so even that isn't available on Xbox so let's go out on a limb and say ppl don't know the web address or where exactly to find the patch notes

It's a simple thing to Google Search "ESO Forums." It pops up as the first result. Then it's a simple manner to get to the patch notes.

There are browsers on consoles, cell phones, personal computers, etc. And you have to have Wifi to play this game. It's a given you have access to the internet.

I'd rather ZOS take my subscription money and improve the game than some "launcher" for XBox so they can see the patch notes right there. We PC players don't even get that! We have to search for the patch notes ourselves.

Just don't be lazy.

I find your poll to be too opinionated thus I could not choose an option because I have no opinion on why have not did this. Even though it is convenient, It not really needed for me and maybe others since there is so many ways to have access to the forums via phones, computers and Console browsers. I have the forums bookmarked on Xbox One, Computer and phone just in case if I want info very fast.

It should be displayed i agree with you. There is no good reason for them not to do this, it would literally only improve things. There is no negative to it. Sure it's not hard to find them, but this would be easier for the players. This kind of thing is what separates good from excellent.

You do realize that some of the more major up-dates patch notes are 60+ pages long, right? If you ever read them on Forums you would know how incredibly long they can be. Natch Potes in forums is fine...:)

And they still don't include important ninja nerfs that they hope e won't notice. But yes they should go on that info screen on load up, mmo games have been doing it for over 20 years so if they can't do it then this game has bigger problems than I thought.

I'm not attacking you in any way shape or form, I just cannot believe that it is so difficult for you to go on to a website to check the patch notes like everyone else. What's so difficult about it? Clicking an app on the Xbox or alt-tabbing out of your game to search "ESO Forums" and checking them. ZOS already has a lot on their plate currently and a silly little feature to save YOU 3 minutes of your time isn't very big on their "Things To Do List". Sorry, but it's the truth.

Being that you found the forums to creat this thread it's obviously not that challenging to find the patch notes.

I'd rather Zos not waste their time posting patch notes everywhere and anywhere someone suggests. Especially not in game.

I dont care if they put them actually in the game. Most of the time the patch notes are something I read while the game is patching anyways.

I can quickly skim the notes on my computer/device the minute they're released, using the Find tool for specific words and phrases that are important to me. My computer will even read it to me if I want it to.

Or I can read the entire thing on a television, only after an approval process, and without any search function. And no audio version.

Or you can watch Pepper Price, a 12 year old girl, do a YouTube reaction video where she rants about this week's My Little Ponies and ESO natch potes.


I'd choose the first one first, the third one second, and the second one only if there were some sort of test and no other option to study for it.

Since they probably just copied and pasted it - there's no reason they couldn't copy and paste the notes.

To be honest, I'm surprised sony allows it.

Just so you're aware, more than most console players do not come here period.

In major cities, a lot of the discussions outside of trade and LFG is...what happened to X or why did this change, etc.

And we all see the threads, my friend told me XYZ, is that true (on console)

I and the very few of the console folks that come here are less than i'd say 2% of the total console population.
I've been in 12 guilds since console launch and now have rested in 4 very active guilds of 350+ members where 50-75 are online at one time each day. As I pop in and out of guild voice chat, there are less than 6 players combined who go to the forums at all.

Three who actually know whats going on, so in that very small sample, it safe to acknowledge that there are at least 600+ players who would benefit from this information being in the game screen as shown in the OP or at the very least....

This post isn't about me, its about "consoles" as a whole and discussions to hopefully make the information available to most rather than a few. It obviously is a value added benefit to all on console as the forum community seems to think, well why don't they just come here.....BUT when you hit the launcher on PC, there is a link that takes you here, but not on xbox one nor is the information in the game anywhere.
