Will Removal of Vet mean Re-crafting/Farming Sets every 10 CP's?

I have this sinking feeling that after every 10 CP's all our gear will be "out of date" and need either re-crafting or farming again to replace it (and requiring thousands of whatever new mats they introduce in order to craft to that CP-level).

It just seems to me that all the removal of Vet levels is doing is bringing back a never-ending "vertical progression" grind.

Please enlighten me if I have made a mistake in my understanding of this, as being enlightened helps me gain my CP's faster.

    Yes, probably.

    Look at it this way: Once the gear cap is raised all your characters will reach it at the same time, doing the grind (if you need it!) only once instead of once for every single alt you've got.

    Some of us love that.

    Right now, I'm using 1 set of gear from V1-V8 and another one till v16. Things will be the same with the change when you level your first character, you can change gear every 50, 100 CP... as you see fit. Once you reach CP cap, ALL your characters will be able to use max CP gear right when they reach level 50, sine CP is account shared. You don't have to make low CP gear for your alts any more.

    Ik think that they will cap the cp requirement on gear and only increase it from time till time. Like they increased Vet level over the time.

    So probably they will start with 160 cp requirements. And after a half a year or so a new extension comes, or a new season starts and then they will increase the cp requirements cap.

    So that would make it kinda the same as the current situation with vet levels. With only one major difference: you only need to level the new champion points once, and it does not matter which level 50 character you use. You can play with the character you want and they all benefit

    So far they've raised the "gear cap" three times in two years. Presuming they don't raise it in Dark Brotherhood then it will have been at least a year between the introduction of the "ruby" tier mats and whatever comes next.

    If you really can't be bothered to regear every year or so then maybe an MMO is not for you.

    Specific to this. I think you're right. It's why I kept suggesting removing VR to make it CP was not removing VR this the problem continues but now it's worse cause it's account wide so your alts become SOL as their gear becomes far out of range if you play a main......

    Yup, thats what I hated most about VR Increase.
    Old stuff got useless and with the introduction of vr 15/16, the materials cost/rarity/needed amount got so bad I couldnt just test out some sets like it was possible with V14 (easier access to less needed mats).

    I imagine it will change. They set it at 160 to start which is 10 cp a level. But i dont think the next step will be 10. Say like every 40-60.

    It also wouldnt surprise me if they flattened out the equip curve. Say they made equip blocks every 40 cp. so a step at 40, 80,120, 160. But i guess we will find out tomorrow. Unless the test server blows up.

    @vyndral13preub18_ESO last time on PTS they had raised the cp cap, on live the patch didn't include that part if I remember correctly with Thieves Guild :/

    I hope we do get it this time, it is boring with 0 progression.

    To me this game could have no progression at all and it wouldn't be boring. At least in terms of material/character progression. If they never raised the cap again and just made content that was challenging and rewarding intrinsically, I would be 100% fine with that.

    @dimensional I've been playing for 2 years now, and there is not much content left for me.

    On my main char I have done most group dungeons over 300 times, I carry 300+ Undaunted goldkeys in its inventory. Excluding the Thieves Guild skill line, I have unlocked and levelled both morphs of every skill available in the game...

    i kinda enjoy farming mats, lets you go sightseeing around tamriel, ive found some impressive vista's while collecting mats

    That is not going to be the case.

    I think whenever the gear level goes up, 40 cp makes sense just because of the 40cp coming to vr16 characters with DB or it will be 51 which I believe is what they said would be the CP increases.

    I see no reason to expect they will raise the "max level" of the game and gear any faster than they used to. Orsinium was what. 4 months ago now and will be almost 6 by Db becomes official.

    So, while i wont be surprised to see a level inc in maybe 3-6 months, it might be as much as a year away.

    So, all in all, i am aboutas worried about some imagined "every 10cp" constant uptick of gear maxes as i am the greys coming back to remove their implants.

    The removal of VR is not the removal of all gear grind. When your alt hits level 50, there will be bumped up to your max characters CP rank, so there will be less grind, but every time a new CP max comes around, there will be a new gear grind.

    Well CP done right is better than VR.

    I don't see why its more of a grind for CP then it is for VR levels. If you only have one toon then yes, but CP is account shared. Take me for example. I have 6 v16 toons.... I have 523 CP. You think its faster to farm a few hundred CP or gear up 6 toons to v16 under the current system? VR levels being removed is a good thing. I can finally fill up my last 2 toon slots without having to worry about grinding v1-v16 a 7th and 8th time lol. Its insanely booooooring.

    Thx all for the feedback...I think perhaps my "simple maths" associated 160 CP and Vet 16 as meaning 10 CP's per level...but as you say the future gear cap may be set at 40 or 51 or whatever amount of CP and not necessarily 10.

    Maybe it would be worth ZoS considering not even linking CP's to gear level. So anyone reaching character level 50 can wear any level of gear just based on the material used to make it and CP's are gained/used just to advance the passives in the CP-trees.

    I do have to admit I like the optimistic point of view from bloodenragedb14_ESO and the "sightseeing tour of Tamriel". I must try to put on my glass-half-full head and stay up-beat.

    People are starting to realise that not much will change with removal of vet ranks.

    All that changed its now all your alts need upgraded weapons/armour at the same time and since DLCs and dungeons scale to your level you will have a bunch of toons underpowered till you have the time to get materials for all of them rather than letting the toon level with the gear.

    Let's see who is still in denial....

    From the transcript of Q&A from that PAX thing it is clear that they will be increasing gear with CP but not straight away. There will come a time though.

    I think it would be wise to have fewer grades of gear so we don't need to get a complete new set of gear so often, but make gear a lot harder to obtain and require very rare materials for it to be crafted at lv 50+ (and make it tradable + add a way to unbind it + add super-rare gear that is never bound). For example:

    1. D grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 1+ to be equipped (would be a lot stronger than regular lv 50 non-grade gear with no Champion Rank requirement).
    2. C grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 501+ to be equipped.
    3. B grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 1001+ to be equipped.
    4. A grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 1501+ to be equipped.
    5. S grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 2001+ to be equipped.
    6. R grade that requires lv 50 and Champion Rank 2501+ to be equipped.

    Each grade should have individual item sets that exist only for that grade (and no other sets). Add new crafting stations where only gear of a specific grade can be made ('cause those sets only exist for that specific grade).
