Finally, Character Slots! But...

Thank you, ZOS!

You're finally fixing that terrible mistake of giving us 10 races and 8 character slots :P
Lol, jokes aside..

I was really looking forward to this!

But there's something that must be said: I hope the price is not salty...
I mean... Anywhere from 500-1000 crowns seems acceptable to be.

Think of it like an investment: You don't expect great returns for the slot itself, but a new character means new potential for Riding Skill books, XP scrolls, Potions, maybe a new costume and mount to match their style, etc... :)

What you guys think about it? Should it be overpriced (being a new slot a "big thing") or should ZOS look at it as an "investment" and make it cheaper, hoping that new characters will motivate crown store consumption so they're ready for action faster? :D

Like I have said from day one they sell the DLC dirt cheap and justify it by selling everything else 1000% higher then they should. Expect them to be 3,000 - 5,000 each. If not You will see me and several others come unglued...

    I mean a bank assistant is 5k
    Mounts are 2,500k
    motifs are 5k

If this which is a huge thing is cheap then they need to adjust all other prices.

I would guess 1,500 crown... ie. WW/Vamp since this is not a needed thing, more just convenient for more mules etc.

Now if this newly rolled character is LVL 50, then 5k crown would be ok.

Expect these to be pricey. They know that most of us at some point will really-really want to make a new character, and if the option is there then temptation will get the better of us no matter the price.

Some people are suggesting lower pricing because they are some sort of investment, and a low start price will lead to more crown purchases later on. I would argue the opposite is true, if you have sunk 5-10 thousand crowns invested into a character slot then what's a few hundred more for the perfect costume?

It's not ideal, but overall I have to applaud ZOS for keeping the dlc affordable.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

I wouldnt pay those prices, and I am sure a lot of others wont either. So,where's the profit?
    Also,most motifs arent 5k.

Actually,if you already have those costumes for your other characters, you dont have to buy them for a new one. They a re account wide,so,there's no need to repurchase them, nor the mounts or assistants.

It's simple, I do not need another character, but I would buy another slot, if it would have a reasonable price. I have not made up my mind yet though, what is reasonable.

I's say 1000 crowns would work fine. I'd pay that,or even 1500 crowns, but no more than that.

Well, considering another very popular MMO title sells them for 2000 (Same ratio per USD) but they are already leveled up (600 not leveled) then I'd expect anything below that. Their console MMORPG competition sells character slots for 450. (Just under $5)

I have 3 more characters to create. But since Im a bit OCD when it comes to numbers I'll need a fourth to round it out. So now I have to think of another character to create.
    Penniless Sellsword Company
    Captain Paramount - Jorrhaq Vhent
Korith Eaglecry * Enrerion Aedihle * Laerinel Rhaev * Caius Berilius * Seylina Ithvala * H'Vak the Grimjawl
    Tenarei Rhaev * Dazsh Ro Khar * Yynril Rothvani * Bathes-In-Coin * Anaelle Faerniil * Azjani Ma'Les
Aban Shahid Bakr * Kheshna gra-Gharbuk * Gallisten Bondurant * Etain Maquier * Atsu Kalame * Faulpia Severinus

Some people will have hit that cap and are jonesing for more space. They are likely to be the ones to be expanding character slots for mules.

A fresh character starts with, what was it, 50 inventory slots? And the first two bag upgrades are pretty cheap, gold-wise.

There's two ways of looking at it. One is to make sure that character slots (up to whatever the new maximum is) does not undermine the price for bag upgrades. In that case, a character slot's value is around 5000 crowns or so (for 50 inventory slots, when equal to current crown bag upgrades -- adding two cheap bag upgrades would bring it to 70 slots, so no higher than 7000 crowns).

The other is to not only make sure these new slots are accessible for those folk who aren't out to make mules, but to make it accessible for those who create numerous alts for roleplaying purposes -- or VERY active players who already have eight VR16 characters and want to raise someone new. In the case of the latter, if they were feeling particularly energetic and enthusiastic... you're probably looking at 88 characters -- one per race, per class, per build (magicka/stamina). 132 characters if you go by role instead of build. Probably double that if you have one per race per class per build per role.

...But that latter example is rather unrealistic for purposes of guessing at what ZOS is likely to charge -- or what we as players feel the value of a character slot is.

Personally, I favor lower numbers. I don't need the bag space, and I haven't even used up all eight of my character slots. I likely never will. I play orcs exclusively, so I only really need one of each class. I build each up to a point where I can swap roles (two minimum, more if I can swing it). But in general, I try to be tight-fisted with my crowns.

Out of curiosity, who does have a driving need for more slots, and how many do you need? How much are you willing to pay for them? I've never really explored that line of questioning before, and I feel like I'm missing a lot of insight here.

There is an alternative to this - just buy a new account on sale for 22€ - 8 slots, no extras, and just play the game plain, bank space and such just paid with gold. Experience the game as it was originally meant to be played. Never buying anything from the crown store. A totally separate game - if I want bling, I play the first account, if I don't the second one.

A lot of that crown store stuff I have is nice - but I do not need it really. I have this account with this stuff, and I can enjoy it, if I want to. But on the other side, it is asset which I have to care for. I do not really need that. My first account can perfectly support the second one and that one is just enjoying, not crafting nor anythign of that, So I do not need to subscribe.

So basically, I can have 8 slots for 22€ on sale - that is about 3500 crowns - so one slot costs me not even 400 crowns this way. Without all the bling and glitter of my first account. I kind of like the idea, to be free from all this asset and just play to have fun. What I need to store, can be stored on the first account, for all other I have enough space on the second for free.

So yes, maybe 1000 or 1500 crowns for a slot - that is generous of me - if they don't comply, then I'll buy a second account.

I play the game as I have since the first betas. So,I dont get what you mean. I simply said the prices I would and would not pay.Nothing about needing more slots myself. I do have a few things from the crown store, but not a lot.I do upgrades on my mounts occasionally, but that's pretty much it.
I play the game with a few mods lately, but in the beginning,I used none at all.I was fine with it that way.
So,from my comment, your reply to mine is kinda odd. :)

I more and more like the idea of a second account - I can combine them via my guild.

Edit: I just consider which of my characters are using costumes - and those are just 2 - the only costumes I would buy on the 2nd account would be the brocade robe and the new bosmer outfit with bead chains. That is 1700 crowns. I can feed the new characters with gold from the first account, that is no problem at all, they can upgrade their inventories and bank space and buy a sorel horse, which is not a bad one.

Nah, it isn't really - I was pondering with the price range you offered - and was giving my thoughts about this price range actually. It was not meant as a suggestion to you, but just how I get to the same conclusion about your price range.

Edit: and when I consider price ranges, I have to explore alternatives, which provide me as well with character slots. I have to consider advantages and disadvantages of it and how they effect me. I was just pondering those ideas seen from my perspective - and I came to a price of 450 crowns per slot plain, when I consider those both outfits I would have to buy twice it is 650 crowns - so 1000 to 1500 crowns, like you said, would be acceptable for the advantage to be able to use all the stuff I already have, even I do just need 2 of those.

I suspect they will be expensive, but I will still end up buying the maximum number permitted. Will be fun to be able to try several different race and class combinations, especially since we can level them so quickly now.

I would really like to know how many we will be able to buy.

I'm ready and waiting to buy ~8 right off the bat. I might buy more down the road too (provided I don't leave for greener pastures). I've been begging for this since Beta and am overjoyed that it's finally confirmed and also annoyed that it took so long to do the obvious.

As for other accounts I do have 3 accounts, but since the arrival of the Champion system it's rather a waste of time to try to actively play on more then one account (aside from storage).

Well,ok,I might go up to 2000 crowns, but not more. To make things way high priced isnt always conducive to profit. Give a good price and people will buy. With the topic.they'll buy over and over if it isnt too pricey. The assistants arent going that well, both due to their limitations AND their heavy prices.
