Hi,

I'm an old player returning after about a year or so of absence. I joined eso plus. I'm not exactly sure what I have gotten here. I find it a bit confusing. You see, I got 1500 crowns for the $15 I paid but I noticed that you can spend $15 to buy that amount of crowns without the other benefits of membership. My question is, why would you buy crowns only when membership gives you the same amount of crowns plus other features all for the same price?

Also, I noticed the game has a lot of dlc available with crown purchase. but when I read what I get for membership it says that I get all the dlc. so does this mean that what is for sale in the crown store I already have? If so buy would you buy the dlc alone when membership gives you them all. I'm a bit confused.

So anyway, I have 1800 crowns now. What should I spend them on? I do like some of the mounts. Or would you suggest saving up the crowns over time and buying something more substantial? Another question, If I don't spend my crowns this month do they carry over to the next month?

How do I research more than 1 item at a time at the various tables? I thought with membership I could research 2 items at once? Also I thought the time it takes to learn would be lowered? Again I'm confused. you see, at the woodwork table it still takes 6 hours to research my trait for my bow (etc).

Am I able to create items in anything other than my wood elf style? I noticed in the store that I can purchase imperial for 5000 crowns which works out to be $50au if I've done the maths right. All those months ago I bought the deluxe version of the game which game me imperial crafting. Do I still have this feature that I paid extra to have? Or do I have to buy it again now?

I know there are a lot of questions here but I'd be so grateful if you could answer them!

10% XP Boost, 1K crowns/month, access to all DLCs throughout the time your subscribed. You'd spend more money if you wanted to buy additional things to what you can get with your 1,000 crowns a month, or you was impatient and didn't want to wait a few months to save a few thousand crowns.

Spend them on what you want, I'd buy the horse in the game for 10K gold for now, XP scrolls are great 1K for 5 of them, 50% XP boost for 2 hours each one (if you want to level fast).

Crowns do carry over so aslong as your subscribed you can save your 1K crowns each month and they'll stack.

You can't research more than one item but you can reduce research times using your crafting skill line (as far as I know) this is tedious I know but I think if you research the most important traits first you'll be ok, as I think the time just gradually increases regardless of what you're searching.

Crafting stuff isn't my specialty I'm fairly new but if you learn the motifs (you can find them in guild stores) you will be able to craft different styles, the imperial version your talking about is just DLC which you will have already as a subscriber, this is different from the imperial/deluxe version of the game which if that's the version you bought a while back you will have access to the imperial race and crafting styles.

I might be wrong with a few crafting related things as I've only been playing a month or two myself so anyone feel free to correct me.

Also, are you EU/NA and PC/PS4/Xbox?

With a direct comparison, ESO Plus does seem to be the better deal, but individual Crowns purchases give you "more for less". Two months of ESO Plus will cost you $30 and get you 3000 Crowns, but you can buy 3000 Crowns directly for $25.

As an ESO Plus member, you only have access to the DLC while your membership is active. If you cancel your ESO Plus or it expires, you lose access to the DLCs. Conversely, if you buy the DLC directly with Crowns, you will have access to it forever. Many people will test out the DLC with an ESO Plus membership, and then if they enjoy it, will buy the DLC with the Crowns that ESO Plus has given them so they can continue to play when their ESO Plus expires. If they don't enjoy it, they can let their ESO Plus expire without spending the Crowns.

It really depends on what you're interested in. As I mentioned above, if you enjoy a DLC, you could buy that with the Crowns so you can continue to play it if/when your ESO Plus ends. Beyond that, take your pick of what interests you. There's costumes and pets if you want cosmetic/vanity items, and there's a number of consumables like food and drink available too. If you don't want to spend the time earning gold in-game, and don't already have one, a mount would also be a good purchase. (The cheapest in-game mount is 10,000 gold, and there's a lot more choice in the Crown Store.)

Yes, Crowns carry over to the next month. You can't 'lose' Crowns over time.

I haven't heard that you could research more than one trait at once, so I think you're mistaken there. The only research benefit to ESO Plus is a 10% reduction to research time; I'm not sure why you're not seeing that.

You can learn other styles in-game by finding the appropriate motif book; the Crown Store just offers a shortcut to getting the book without having to find it in-game first. The Imperial crafting that came with the Imperial Edition is only available to the Imperial race. Even if you own the Imperial Edition, you have always had to find the motif separately if you are not playing as an Imperial. What you can do is convert your existing items to Imperial style, but then you can't trade them as they become bound. So yes, you still have what you already paid for previously.

They offer crowns separately from ESO plus for people who want to buy extra, or people who want to buy crown store items without subscribing. I'm not sure why one of the price points is exactly the same, but I'd guess that they decided on an overall range and picked a series of points within that to offer and one of them matched, or was close enough to the subscription price that they decided to make them identical.

Also some people feel that they already level too quickly so they may feel the subscription price is about right for what they want to spend but they want to avoid the XP boost which would make the problem even worse.

You have access to the DLC for as long as you keep up your subscription. If you pay for 1 month's subscription then you can play the DLC for 1 month and at the end of that you have to either subscribe again or buy it to continue.

The DLC is sold separately for people who don't want to subscribe all the time or at all, but want access to the DLC.

Crowns will carry over from one month to the next (the same goes for ones bought directly and even the ones given free for having the game before the switch to buy-to-play.

What you spend them on is up to you, there aren't really any right or wrong choices. (And apart from the temporary items, which are always clearly labelled, you can always wait to buy things you can't afford right away.)

ESO Plus gives you a slight reduction in research times (I think it's 10%), but the research time will go up with each trait you research, so if you're seeing it stay about the same that's just because the two are cancelling each other out.

A subscription doesn't allow you to research 2 things at once, but there is a skill you can learn in-game (by levelling crafting and then spending skill points) that does that.

All characters know their own races style by default. To learn others you need to find or buy motifs (these are available in-game as drops and therefore commonly traded between players as well as being sold in the crown store).

The Imperial edition will give you 2 extra options:
1) You can create an Imperial character who will know the Imperial style straight away (because it's their racial style) and
2) You can convert items (with the exception of some drops) into the Imperial style on any character. This will bind them to your account, but it means you can craft another style and then convert them if they're for your own use.

If you level up your crafting skills, you will eventually be able to choose the skill that will allow you to research more than one item. The most you can research at one time is 3.

Every additional trait for an item will require more time. By the time you get to the 9th trait, you will be looking at 30 days of research time.

Every character can craft in their own racial style; Bosmer can make bosmer style, Nords can make nord style item, etc. If you want to craft other styles, you need to pick up the other motifs. You can find them in-game by searching crates/baskets/etc. Or go to the guild merchants and buy them. The normal blue motifs are usually around 200 to 300 gold. The prices for others go up from there.

Thanks Everyone who replied. My crafting time reduced after I logged out and in. I'm picking the game up quite quickly now that I have the past experience from a year ago.

Buying crowns is a much better deal. I only buy crowns on sale. I have done it twice, $24 for 5500 crowns.

I could see ESO+ being worth it for people who arrive with a lot of already released DLC that they don't own. They will get access to all of them while also pocketing some additional crowns. It doesn't take long though until the sub stops being a good $ deal compared to just buying crowns when they are discounted. Since there is a decent change that you would leave the game again, it is probably cost effective to just sub, play through DLC, and see if it is worth staying with the game this time.

The crafting bags will add a lot of value to hoarders when DB drops, but the current perks from ESO+ aren't anything I crave.

To answer your question, the reason you would buy the DLC instead of subbing is that you only pay for the DLC once if you buy it. If you sub, you are paying 3 times per DLC drop (since DLC drops are quarterly). It is like paying $48 per DLC. When I buy DLC for 2500 crowns, it is like spending $11 dollars for that DLC. For those who bought a full price 5500 crown pack ($40), it is like spending $18 dollars for the DLC -- still waaaaay cheaper than subbing and you keep the DLC forever.

The $48 per DLC becomes less if there are crown store items you would have bought regardless. But if you find yourself buying mounts and costumes because you have nothing else to do with the crowns, that doesn't seem like getting value.
