(PS4) Confused with Abilities and Weapon/Spell Damages

Hello, I play on PS4 and I understand I am more limited in information as we have no tooltips. However on PS4 I think you could include a mouse when you are in your menus in combination with the PS4 controller tactile button. Other games have a mouse with double-tap clicks such as War Thunder... but I am getting off topic...

When I gain a level with my character and need to choose which attribute to add a point into, I select Stamina and the game tells you it will increase your stamina pool (ok I see that!) and increase the weapon damages of Axes, Swords, Daggers, Maces and bows (I don't see that!)

I have a Dragonknight level 25, sword and board, with the following attributes:
0 Magicka
5 Health
19 Stamina

On the character sheet it says I have 501 Spell Damage and 501 Weapon Damage:
- I am already confused why my spell damage is the same as the weapon damage when I have a lot more Stamina than Magicka.
- When I add a point in Stamina or add gear with Stamina bonuses, the weapon damage stays 501
- Weapon damage and Spell damage only changes when I change weapon OR I add gear with weapon/spell damage bonuses
- When I add stamina to my build, I only see the stamina pool increasing and nothing else.

My questions:
Where can I see the change in weapon damage when I add stamina points to my character?
Does adding a point in Stamina/Magicka increase the damage/healing/buff of the character abilities?

Before I came on this forum, I looked on websites and videos on youtube and the information is never consistent. Some say stamina weapons and spells scale with the increase of stamina (but I don't see that in game), and other websites such as Ten Ton Hammer says it increases the stamina pool (and nothing else is mentioned)

Thank you in advance for clearing up this confusion and guiding me! :)

    1. Never. Stamina does not increase Weapon Damage. Weapon Damage is increased by your weapon's damage and any increases to weapon damage. The same goes for spell damage.
    2. Yes. Ability and attack damage can be calculated(in general situations. Actual theorycrafting will need more accurate equations that include base damage and coefficients of weapon power and stamina) by coefficient*(WeaponPower+(Stamina*10.46)).
Essentially, 10 max stamina is roughly equivalent to 1 weapon power in tooltip damage calculations.

Thank you for your reply. On PS4, where can I find this tooltip damage calculation?

In each skill you see how much damage it does. That's the tooltip damage and it reflects the max stamina pool conversion on it.

Tool tips will update their damage when you increase stamina or weapon/spell dmg. You can see this easily by using a buff that gives Major Brutality (+20% wep dmg). Use the buff then check your skill tooltip, you'll notice the dmg goes up. This is the only way to see your dmg on the PS4 aside from floating combat numbers of course.

The information in the responses here is good info; most of what you wanted answered is here already. But in the hopes that I might further help you understand what's going on with your stats:

Your max stamina will directly impact the amount of damage/healing you do with stamina-based skills. For example, increasing your stamina will increase the damage of something like Uppercut (2H) or Snipe (bow). It will also increase the amount of healing from a stamina-based healing skill, such as Vigor (Alliance War). The tooltip values (when hovering over the skill) will be updated to reflect changes to your maximum stamina pool, as well as changes to your weapon damage.

Tooltip values do not reflect your Champion Point allocation. For example, if you put 100 points into Mighty (increases physical damage by 25% total), your tooltip will not show a value that is 25% higher than it was prior to allocating the points. It is for this reason (primarily) that floating combat text is such a blessing for console players (it's a blessing for everyone tbh, but PC had addons to do this work before combat text was added). The value you see above an enemy's head when you hit them with a skill is the bottom line, and has accounted for every factor, including your CP.

Certain skills, primarily ultimates, will scale off of whichever of your stats is highest. The type of damage that is dealt (i.e. magic, physical, frost, flame, etc.) is not impacted by your stamina or weapon damage, however it is impacted by anything that specifically states that damage type (i.e. champion points, or certain types of gear that buff specific damage types).

I see you found some answers which is great. Just throwing this out there. If you wanna see some more numbers of the dmg your doing and crits. In the in game options under interface you can select to see the dmg output which is a nice feature they added for ps4. I was always jealous when I would see pc players that were able to see what kind of dmg they were doing and now we've got it! lol
