So if my main DPS skills are sweeps and Jesus beam then I should be putting most of my champion points into increasing damage over time rather than the one that increases magic damage?
Also, is magic damage over time also increased by the champion point that increases magic damage?

Yellow: Outgoing critical damage
Orange: Outgoing damage over time
Red: Incoming damage
Green: Healing
Tan: Crowd Control

Bottom right of player: Incoming crowd control

Thank you @phaneub17_ESO. I don't recall having ever seen orange numbers on screen (or exclamation points, or asterisks), maybe I'm just not paying attention. I was wondering what the numbers in parenthesis were. I believe I've also seen red numbers in parenthesis, going by your post I assume that's an incoming damage absorb.
Ok well based on the colors, puncturing sweeps does white damage (unless critical) and so does radiant oppression. If the colors are accurate, neither sweeps nor Jesus beam are categorized as DoTs. This is on PS4 in Cyrodiil.

You have to toggle on the combat numbers in your options. It was added with Thieves Guild.

Is Thaumaturge from Ritual CP bugged somehow or it calculates damage in some odd way?
I keep asking this questing myself since I just added 73 cp into Thaumaturge (+20,1% dot) and my magicka sorcerer's three spells did not increase the expected damage.
Unstable Wall of Storms III from 1382 to 1421
Boundless Storm III from 571 to 587
Lightning Flood IV from 1777 to 1827
CP put into Elemental Expert passive gives the exact calculated increase, but Thaumaturge much lower.
Found an old topic with this problem, looks like being a sors with dot spells I should not put CP into Thaumaturge...
Damage = Base * (DoTDamage + Damage) * AllDamage
