Can I get my characters transferred? I dont mind paying - have been with the game since beta, and am happy to give the devs money as I love this game.

There should be a system in place to transfer back and forth.

It's 2016 now. No idea why they haven't made this so. It is easily feasible.

Actually they mentioned this upcoming change regarding moving to DX11 over a year ago. Interesting that the OP mentioned giving the devs money yet isn't willing to commit money to upgrading their system for a much better experience.

I think ZOS could have sent out an email 3 months prior to the update to inform players of the pending change and what it means to them, how they could upgrade their hardware to continue playing and send a reminder that non-DX11 devices would be unable to play the game.

Even if ZOS mentioned it a year ago a lot can happen in a year, and communication from ZOS is disseminated from a LOT of different sources. Sometimes on the forums (typical), sometimes on Reddit, sometimes other places. The DX11 update was known, but it wasn't well known by players who don't frequent the forums.

    Where?

Not sure but it was discussed Ad nauseam in several forum posts regarding the recent patch and people mentioned how it had been posted a year ago that they would be dropping support for DX9. Whether it was in system requirements or elsewhere I am not sure.

As I recall, it was discussed on the forum as well as on ESO Live, and it was reflected in a change of system requirements when the original box was withdrawn and the revised Tamriel Unlimited box issued. It should have been highlighted on the launcher with additional reminders approaching the DLC date.

The laptop I play on is an HP DV7, problem is that it's intel graphics card is at max DX10.1 compatible. I can play on XBox, and much as I would miss my Add-Ons, I would really love it if I could play my Vet character from my PC account, even on the XBox.

I guess you do have a point that if I went and plunked money down to get an even better laptop, I wouldn't have to have my chars transferred. However, I'm not exactly sure where you read that I wouldn't upgrade/buy a system that worked... thing is, if the devs set up porting PC chars to the XBox, even for a fee for the service, I'd much more readily do that.

Ah well - I'll just stop paying the ESO Plus™ - and once there's a solution on either the devs' end or mine, will probably be back, as, like I said, I really did love this game.

    Farewell folks :)
