Proposal:
What if that ZOS gave all zones the Orsinium treatment to scale them up or down? Since the zones would no longer be level-locked because of this, then everyone would be equal while they quest. This would give the game more of a sandbox feeling and more importantly allow for inter-faction interaction. Think about it, right now for a certain alliance (say Pact) you have the EP zones then Silver be DC and Gold be AD...but what if it didn't have that progression? They already took it a step in that direction by just needing to be VR1 to go to those places and dungeons + Trials are now inter-faction...why not take it all the way? I personally believe it would be fantastic to allow people to go wherever they want and do whatever they want when they quest through the scaling of stats, then ZOS could open the zones to all alliances and allow for true inter-faction cooperation. Not only that, but think of the opportunities a system like this would give for open-world PvP!

    The zones would probably be too crowded. And as for open-world pvp, only a minority of players seem to want it.

    I think they are working on doing this with future DLCs. They haven't explicitly told us but all the cross-faction business seems to point that way. Though not sure if old zones will be looked at. They are focusing on working on new content. Better to have excellent future than messing about with old zones.

    This has been discussed numerous times before (@Gidorick probably has a list of all of them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ). The general outcome of similar threads is the feeling that if everything scaled, levelling would be pointless.

    In terms of the alliance zones, you'd also break story progression. (For example, you'd have references in Zone 5 to people who died or events which occurred in Zone 2, but you haven't done Zone 2 yet, so those references are at best a spoiler, and at worst make no sense to you.)

    Now, downscaling in the levelling zones could work, as then you'd still be able to play content you'd already overlevelled, but would still need to progress to the content which you haven't reached yet (in terms of both level and story). Cross-factioning all the Veteran content zones could also work, as there's no difference in the level.

    I don't think the servers could handle it. We're getting lag in PVE zones already. If lag wasn't an issue I'd be all for this because it makes sense but unfortunately performance takes a priority for me so I hope they don't attempt this until they figure out what's going on with the existing problems.

    yeah this is the biggest issue with that... plus open world PvP had damn well better be optional.

    @Aquanova The level scaling should just be numbers, so that shouldn't affect the servers. I don't see why cross-faction would affect the servers either; instead of one Auridon server shard containing, say, 180 AD characters, another containing 150 DC characters, and a third containing 120 EP characters, you would have the first containing 70 AD, 60 DC and 50 EP, the second containing 60 AD, 50 DC, and 40 EP, and the third containing 50 AD, 40 DC, and 30 EP. Total load per server shard would be the same.
