Will some please explain how to use the Crown Mimic Stone

I had a few extra crowns laying around and I bought the 12pack. I thought it made it so you were able to craft any style of gear even if you didn't have the style researched. Am I wrong or am I just not doing it right ?

There are two things you need to be able to craft a given style:

1. Learned that motif (you only need this once)
2. Have a style mat (you need one for every item crafted)

The mimic stone is for #2, and not for #1.

Not really. Xyvkyn is pretty cheap in guild stores.

It is a universal style mat. It can be used to craft an item in any style, given that your character has that style researched. This is instead of needing to having the particular style mat (which might otherwise be hard or gold-costly to obtain).

I'm still not understanding...I thought it was just letting you choose any style you wanted. Thus I don't have xivkyn leaneed yet for example. I thought I would be able to craft a 2h axe xivkyn style?

Better explanation:

The mimic stones replace style items like: casserite, deadric hearts, moonstone, etc.

The mimic stones do not replace pages or book motif.

You still have to learn the motifs. The mimic stones only act as replacement style material.

Assume you want to craft Xivkyn. You still have to learn the Xivkyn motif pages. After that the next obstacle is that you need Xivkyn style material - Charcoal of remorse. When you have mimic stones but no charcoals, you can substitute that charcoal with a mimic stone.

Tip: after you have crafted with mimic stone, turn it off. The game remembers that toggle and keeps substituting real style mats until turned off. Even when you have real style mats.

I'm lucky if I have 1-2 k total between all characters.

I don't think of Xyvkin as cheap.

Well, right now I've only got about 12k, but that's because 1) I just blew about 7k on Malachite, and 2) I just bought the Kena shoulders for 99k over the weekend. And 3) I've been collecting the glass style, and that is a touch expensive.

Xyvkyn's been running at a couple k a piece lately.

Oh okay, I got excited because I just received 3,000 AP for my daily rewards and Got a bonus reward it was a Daggerfall Covenant Restoration Staff, however I didn't know it was coming and I opened it as my character who is level 3, When I wish it was my higher level characters.

I was thinking about using the mimic stone to sacrifice the gifted Staff and recreate it at a higher level Staff... with a different trait gem, and a fire enchantment later, I guess that's not possible if I don't know the Daggerfall Covenant style. =/

I know I should sell it because I'll out grow it quickly, but I'll probably never see this reward again. It's been a goal to get a Daggerfall Covenant Staff.

You need to do your crafting dailies.

4.6K a day on a character lvl 50 alt and you dont need to level crafting to get the gold.
