I really really really wanted to like this game. I thought it would seal me off from WoW for good and keep me interested in the same way and for the same time. This game has real promise, but its problems aren't with the story, or the mechanics, or the art, or the combat..

It's with the clunkiness of the game and how hard it is to just play the game.

Every day a new problem comes up with this game that steals 20 minutes or so from me because I need to fix it. Crashes, random load screens, character not responding to keybinds in the middle of combat, basic attacks going through enemies, buildings taking a multiple minutes to fully render so I can go inside, horrible lag, play button on the launcher disappearing that can only be fixed with a 10 minute "repair" command.

These sorts of things are what piling up to the point of making me realize: I love Elder Scrolls, and I love the world of Tamriel, but this game doesn't deliver on the technical side of these things. Bethesda may have their bugs and their quirks in their games, but never have I had to put up such a fight to run a game before. I was hoping this would be a good way to save me the money of a wow sub while also weening my time between proper ES releases, but the game is just too clunky and rusty in my opinion.

I wish you all the best, and since it's not sub based I may return from time to time, but this is not a permanent residence for me.

Not trying to be a ***, but that sounds more like your system is having issues than the game itself... I'm not sure what system you're running, but my 4+ year old Dell system runs this game like a champ, and I've never had any of those issues. I'm not trying to say that your issues don't exist, I'm just thinking it might not be the games fault.

Sorry to see you go (personally, I love this game), but you have to do what is good for you.

Yea, bugs and things aside, you seem to be describing issues that are occurring due to the age/condition of your rig.

Have to agree here too. I took a break from the game and came back a couple months ago only to face many of the issues that the OP has described. I still stuck around, but the hard disk on my PC decided not to and failed.

Fortunately I had a decent gaming laptop I barely used before and started playing ESO on that - the difference is night and day. I still get the occasional crash/lag but it's very very uncommon.

You don't have to use your launcher in order to start up the game, in the folder where you saved eso there will be a file called: eso64 that is the 64 bit client and it'll startup the game immediately. Only for the updates you have to start up the launcher in order to get the download to update it.

The character not responding to keybindings is kind of a issue I have as well sometimes but I figured out what it caused.
Basically I can move my character around but I cannot use my abillities, the game still thinks im on my second screen or my desktop, I just have to hold alt tab and go back to the game and everything will be fixed.

for lag clunkyness try to downgrade some of the graphic settings maybe it helps but the game doesn't have a good performance when a lot of things happen on the screen.

    What an uninformed comment.

I have all those issues and have the game on a 500GB 850 Samsung SSD.

Unfortunately the OP is comparing and old game that old PCs still run great. Also, the game systems in wow are pretty much on rails which may be the clunky part of his description. Newer game should require newer PC designs for them to play well.
    Really, idk

    Hey @Jaemeson_Foster ,

While we understand that players may choose to leave Tamriel from time to time, we're sorry to see you go! As goodbye threads are not permitted due to forum rules, we will be closing this thread.

However, we do recommend contacting support here if you would like to try some troubleshooting options that may make ESO run a little smoother for you.
