To start off, trials are my favorite thing to do in the game and I really enjoy working together in a group to try and conquer the challenge. With that said, that's really the only thing I get out of it is the experience and the ability to say "Good job, we did it!".
I was looking at the gear that drops in the new trial, and while they aren't bad, it's nothing that really makes me jump for joy. I'm a healing templar, and the magicka-based DPS set looks like it's probably on-par with the existing crafted ones like Julianos or Scathing Mage, if not weaker since it alternates between regen and spell damage. The healing set looks a bit more interesting, since with purifying ritual it can give everyone in a group the chance to boost their dps and get some passive heals, but it feels kind of lackluster compared to crafted sets as well (although I would consider using it if I managed to get it). It's felt the same with all of the previous trials: with the exception of the Aether gear way back when, there really haven't been any drops from trials that I even wanted, and most simply end up getting broken down for crafting mats.
Does anyone else feel like the rewards are a bit lackluster? Even if they don't add stronger gear to the rewards list, I would really like to see something - it could be mementos (the collectables that do unique emotes when used), costumes, mounts, or in the future, housing items. I just think that if you spend hours upon hours training with a group of players to beat the hardest challenge in the game, it would be nice to have something more than bragging rights and the satisfaction of completing it.
