Should those that want to 1v1 with other players of their faction be given the option to do so?

Following conditions according to previous discussions:
1. Ignore duel requests option in system
2. Only on pve areas in order to avoid filling Cyro with unnecessary volume of players
3. Not rewarding any points/titles/items but simply for friendly pvp
4. Away from Towns and Questing areas - a predetermined location in each piece of the map for a dramatic change of scenery

I like the Ignore duel request option idea. I had one (obviously kid) player in LOTRO once follow me around a whole area spamming me requests and calling me names.
If I'm not interested, I dont' even want to see the request.

I would take it further tho and say only in designated areas away from towns and quest areas. Mostly because I'm sure there will be people here shortly saying "ruining my 'mershuns"

This idea has been thrown around a lot on the forum's. I really want it to happen.

I would love to challenge my friend's and place some money on the line. :)

The best part about this feature. You do not need to respawn or anything like that. You can get your own faction to meet up somewhere and duke it out. Since you can revive your allies it's all in good fun.

However i do hate the "ego" part of dueling. Someone who may loose in a duel may be a monster open world. Dueling need's a better focus for balance purposes though. Right now it's pretty boring and linear.

@GerogeBlack That last pick is just awful btw. When creating a constructive post, giving player's an option to create "flame" is not the best way to do it.

Could make instanced dungeons where you could 1v1 someone, or even group vs group. I would imagine though that there are players that would want to observe, so perhaps it would be possible to allow for the instanced to be open to the public and they could enter the instance as spectator.

Important part would be to add the battle spirit buff though, in order to replicate a Cyrodiil environment.

As this would have no impact on the people that have no interest in dueling, I see no rational arguments against this.

On PS4, you hold the START button when close to/looking at an allied player to bring up a wheel with options like trading, view profile, invite to group etc. There should be an Invite to Dual option, which the other must accept. Only available in Cyrodiil and IC. Everyone is happy! Plz ZOS

    Yes.

I imagine an arena style dueling and group combat.

It should be instanced so that it doesn't eat up player slots in PvP zones. Maybe somewhere in Whiterun and unlock more of Skyrim?

Maybe enough for 4v4 or 8v8 and some spectators?
It is not your ability, so much as your willingness to do what is right that will set you apart from the rest.

I agree wholeheartedly with @Xendyn on this. I was going to just choose "Yes" until I saw his post and realized that the "designated areas" part was a good idea.

Also, I was so very tempted to choose "No because I don't want others to enjoy friendly pvp without having to lvl a new char, EVEN THOUGH it does NOT affect me at all, or it affects me to an insignificant way, but I still want to deny that to THOSE THAT WANT IT" just for the lulz.

Edit: and for the record, I'm one of the people who would keep the "ignore duel request" option turned on permanently. I have absolutely no desire to duel people. I'll support options that allow others to duel without bothering me though :)

I don't know how to change my vote. Should be yes.

So long as it is not in Cyrodiil. Since their are pop locks, the population should be fighting enemies.

I only PvP a few hours a month, but I have noticed quite a few times that my faction was pop locked but seemed to have no presence. There seems to already be excessive distractions in Cyrodiil that detract from the core concept of Cyrodiil.

    Biased poll is biased.

Not as stated in the OP.
In designated areas away from questing areas and cities with an ignore/opt out. It should not interfere with other people's enjoyment of the game. By this I mean other reasons in addition to immersion etc because I dont feel that the pro-dueling crowd is capable of being courteous to others.

Yes. Secluded area, available to take part via invitation, auto-ignore option for those who aren't interested. I can't do much in the way of practising by getting zerged down in Azura's lag, attempting to duel people while mobs/other people attack me from behind, or going into one of the other near-empty servers and riding around for like 20 minutes to find one person who probably came to that server just to grind or something.

I think that a 1v1 should be an option, though I'd agree only in designated areas, or rather NOT In designated areas such as cities and towns. I'd also request the option to ignore duel invites/challenges.

I doubt I would participate, but this is an MMO. If options for players start lacking and continue, other options become other games....

I like the idea, but I would also add the condition that you cannot earn AP doing same alliance duels. I realize there are already numerous ways to circumvent AP farming, but this would simply make it too easy to exploit.

I realize you mentioned these duels would not happen in Cyro, so that probably means AP could not be earned, but just to be clear.

Like the idea tho, and +1 from me~

If dueling was implemented, dueling tournaments could a definite winner. Too many dueling tournys ive been in its come down 2 people of the same faction and we have had to spilt the winnings. I am all for an option to turn off requests if you choose. I think it would be an easy thing to implement and it would give PVP players something to keep us interested until areana's/battlegrounds are added. It would increase the the amount of twitch streams and youtube uploads. Which would bring in new players in and give veteran players a change.

I'm not a fan of PvP in Cyrodiil, but I would love to participate in duels on empty (no NPCs, mobs, random visitors/attackers) arena without unnecessary distraction :)
Not just my alliance - ability to invite characters of any alliance would be useful. 1v1, but also option for those who want more participants - maybe maximum 10 characters on the arena (Everyone versus Everyone)...

I really like the idea of there being certain areas that people can duel. Either somewhere you go and queue to be be entered into a duel with someone random, or that you can challenge a friend and be instanced to the closest (discovered) duelling area.

There should be one in every alliance, and two in the expansion zone that it is added in - and they should all have different properties.

1: Simple Arena. Small affair, with some spectators. circle with nothing inside. (Think Imperial City Arena from Oblivion). Probably in the DLC Zone as the first one most people encounter. Will probably be the most popular.

2: In a tomb, with traps. Spikes, flames etc. Watch where you step! But no cover.

3: Lots of cover. I'm thinking a forest somewhere, so there are plenty of trees. I always find trees more interesting than rocks.

4: Mountaintop. Uneven terrain. Edges of the arena are cliffs so you can fall off. No spectators!

    5. Somewhere with magical effects active in different places. Maybe something like the first guy's arena from Maelstrom Arena.
