Nightblade class : Merciless resolve / Grim focus adjustment

Hey guys, with all the hype (NOT) about the Nightblades changes in the next patch, mostly pvp related with the nerfs to the rogue / stealth playstyle, i wanted to move away from PVP and put something on the table for the PVE side of playing a nightblade. I have always thought that the skill Merciless resolve / Grim focus felt wrong in the way the proc from this ability works... let me explain.

The way the skill works right now, when activated you have 20 seconds to do 4 light attacks to get the spectral bow proc. You can have this skill on your second bar and use your main bar to do the light attacks and still get the proc when you switch back to your second bar. Also, and here is the main issue according to me, once you get the proc from this ability (which can be done in about 6-7 seconds) you have to recast it in order to get the proc again (which makes 13 seconds, more or less, of this skill useless if you want to have good, sustained DPS).

My recommendations for an adjustment to this skill are the following :
-make it that you can get multiple proc from the spectral bow, within the 20 seconds, without recasting it. As long as you complete 4 light / heavy attacks after every proc.
-make it that only the light and heavy attacks on the bar that the skill is active are counted towards procing spectral bow.

These 2 changes would, in my opinion, adjust the skill PVE wise, without making it too strong PVP wise. If people would want to use it in pvp, they would have to consider having it on their DPS bar and not on their buff / defensive bar. Also, you will still be able to get only 1 proc during the buff duration (maybe 2 procs if you are fighting someone not very mobile) considering that it is fairly hard to land consecutives weaving in an open world PVP environment.

@Wrobel @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_RichLambert, What are your thoughts towards this suggestion ?

Also, sorry for any grammar errors everybody, english is my 2nd language.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts on this thread  see you all in game

So make it accumulate charges during those 20 seconds and then freely unload it? pretty OP if you think about it from a PvP perspective =P

Not accumulating, once the proc is on, you are not stacking anymore light / heavy attacks towards the next proc until you have used the spectral bow.

I literally had the exact same conversation last night. I think its a good idea. I really dont like the fact that it needs to be recast every 5-6 seconds. It is a clunky skill to use.

I think closest comparison for another skill is crystal frags from a sorc. There are obvious differences. Merciless Resolve grants minor Berserk when active and frags does nothing just sitting on your bar other than the 2% Spell damage boost from sorc passives. Therefore, MR should be harder to proc, which it already is. The problem is that it results in effectively over casting a buff, which is a big No-no for DPS rotatoins. Compare the 2 in their most basic form:

Sorc: LA>Force Pulse (repeat approximately 3 times total on average) LA>Frags, Repeat. There is no downtime. The result is that every 4th weave or so, you simply get a nice damage spike.

NB: LA>Merciless, LA>Funnel(x4 assuming you dont miss a weave), LA>Bow, LA>Merciless (No skill DPS from this weave) repeat. The result here is that to get your damage spike you are doing a minimum of 5 weaves, one of which is missing a damage skill which greatly offsets the extra damage from Spectral bow.

Ultimately, the later is far more complicated for a very similar type of skill.
