Poison destruction staves please

Benefits: higher base damage(weapon and spell) than other destro staves,
tri focus effect: heavy attacks cause a non poison DOT.
destructive touch effect minor mangle longer DOT clench add minor defile
wall of elements deals additional pure poison damage per tic to already poisoned targets

Downsides: poor synergy with CP passives and force shock, reliance on poison

lore:Morrowind

What do you think, good idea? Besides we NEED more woodworking research rubbish to balance it with blacksmith and clothier the demand for woodworkers is SO low because it is so easy to research everything compared to the other 2

It would make sense to have more staff choices.

Poison Destruction staves? Sure! (green smoke-like effect; I'd go with less initial damage, but added DoT though, and "elemental effects" to increase the DoT effects)

Illusion Destruction staves? Why not? (red-black foggy effect; less initial damage but ignores some resistance, perhaps?)

Dark Magic Destruction staves? Would make a nice touch to complement Sorcerors abilities (purple mystic energy effect, pure magic damage...)

Blood magic Restoration staves? Possibly! (less initial damage, but some lifesteal, perhaps?)

Disease Restoration staves? Also an option (similar to poison staves for healing magic... it could work)

Of course, what I'd want even more would be an alternate weapon for destruction and restoration skill lines, so we don't -have- to go with staves...
Something liike the "Spell Focus" I sometimes fantasize about, things like (depending on racial style) ornate spellbooks, holy symbols, gemmed skulls, gilded scepters, meditation crystals, shamans rattles, etc. (would make nice additions to finally make jeweller a viable crafting line as well...)

Oh, and while we're talking woodworking... I definitely would like to see crossbows (alternate weapon for bow skill) and polearms (for a new skill line) added to that one as well...

Instead of adding in more staffs, they should make poison work the way its supposed to. To be able to apply it to any weapon in the game would be more beneficial than having more staffs. If they are going to add in more wood based weapons, then lets get Polearms and Crossbows.

It's called a bow. Reworked champion system now buffs poison, disease, and physical damage together.

The game needs a weapon that applies disease.

    Look like we need "crossbows."

    agree.

The only way I'd be O K with a poison staff is if/when ZOS adds in melee for staff attacks. (Pretty sure the entire caster community would flip out)

Poison is not magic so I don't understand why there would be a poison staff. There are only so many physically relatable things we can base on stamina because they are usually grounded in reality and make sense to be physical. Magic is just magic it can be whatever it wants to be. So why take something that belongs to the limited supply of physical attacks and give it to magic? I say if you want something magical that acts similarly to poison it should be curses or something.

I've made a suggestion in the past for something similar, a 'Corruption' staff or 'Nature Magic' staff that is built around poison/disease based damage. I had another idea for a Fear Staff based on those daedra that use illusion/fear effects from a staff.

...you know that poison is notoriously iffy with weapons that clang and bash, despire what movies might have you believe sometime, flaking off during parries long befor that one blow which carves a nice wound? Not to mention the high danger of nicking yourself during weapon maintendence on the eve of battle...

It -would- take magic to keep a blade poisoned for blow after blow. Enter the poison glyph...

Think bigger! What we really need is an Illusion Staff line that includes an AOE "Charm" spell that will unflag you from PvP with the affected targets. A "Frenzy" spell that enables friendly fire among a group of enemy faction players could be great, too!

I like the confusion between the oblivion/skyrim players and the morrowind players in this thread :) in morrowind you couldn't apply poisons to weapons (they were only good for selling to npcs) but there were poison damage destruction spells that were fun to use by sneaking up on victims, casting the melee range spell and running away to let the poison do its work

Poison damage had a completely artificial association with dot, though - you could spellcraft a lingering lightning dot or fast poison burst damage if you felt like it

If they are going to force poison into the DK's skill lines then why not have a weapon (and skills) that work in conjunction?

But yes, you could just use a bow...

Why would poison have more base damage if the purpose of poison is to work over time?

But I like the idea of more destro staves OP...

Earth, blood, red smoke ( evil ), green smoke ( necromancer ), poison ( green liquid ), perhaps even something like black liquid ( Void staff, in honor of Sithis? ), Thorn staff ( fires thorns ), I would also like to see some kind of purple or cyan staff ( perhaps conjuration & illusion ) there are many possibilities.

A poison staff with the old (live server) Thaumaturge it would have made sense and I really would have liked it, but with the PTS changement of Elemental Expert I don't think so.

It's better than to add new weapon skill-lines like: crossbow, spear for stamina, 1h+orb/wand, etc.

Considering we have already many balancement issues with the weapons available, I'm not sure other ones could be added, even if it would be surely nice.

Totally aggree. With new dlc poison staff would be useless...
For new weapons and skillines there are only 2 i would like to see. Idea is from diablo 3^^
there is a bow and dw crossbows
    2h staff and 1h staff + orb/book

But first we have to get balance in the system now, then thinking about something new

Add a poison enchantment. I've found skills will still apply the enchantment not just standard attacks. I had unresistable damage on a sword and all the one hand and shield skills still applied it even shield attacks

Dunno if it's intended or not

I reckon there's room for another magicka weapon in ESO. Like an "alteration staff" or something that does support-ish things and serves as an alternative to restoration staff on the back bar of a DPS, and healers can use instead of a destro staff or whatever else.
Maybe it could do things like ranged AOE snare effects, a cone that does a speed buff on allies, reduce enemies' damage at range, stuff like that

And make force pulse a one single element beam instead of 3, that would be great for sorcs and DKs
