Is the Xivkyn leg motif intentionally this rare? [PC]

I've seen literally 5 recently all going for over 20K. Just wondering how they're so rare. Even chests are cheaper.
Haven't played in around 4 months and they still seem to be ultra rare since then.
I have no DLC.

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

VoiDGhOs7✭✭✭✭They're so expensive because they drop from Tooth Trophy Vault and getting Monstrous Teeth is not as easier as Bone Shards/Dark Ether.1 -
lynog85✭✭✭They dont drop from the tooth vault. They drop from Mark of the legion. Go farm the yellow zombie area in the sewers. I got literally 20 leg motifs from them.0 -
Sentinel✭✭✭✭Marks of the legion are the easiest to buy from stores, and these chests will most definitely drop the Xivkyn Legs motifs. The reason they're so rare is because they are from the marks of legion, which most people consider worthless. I would suggest buying a couple stacks of marks, and opening the chests. In the past, I've opened about 10 marks chests and gotten about 3 or 4 legs motifs.
There is a slight possibility the other motif (shields) that drops from marks is more common than legs, but you should be able to get one nonetheless. If you want a guaranteed motif, have the treasure hunter CP perk.1 -

LoL, just got one for 850g in one of my guilds. Xiv weapons motifs are costing a lot more than armor now. Check a bunch of guild vendors and you'll find someone at or around 1K easy. Sometimes I check 20 to 30 vendors on expensive stuff, mostly by hitting the places with big groups of them (5 to 7 vendors in one spot). It helps to have a toon in each alliance.
EDIT: I take it all back. That was Merc, not Xiv. I just checked 17 vendors and the best I found was 17.5K. I know I got my Xiv legs for a lot less but that was over a month ago. Sorry.Edited by ContraTempo on February 14, 2016 7:23PMContraTempo
