Imperial City Prison 2nd Boss

Havonic
Havonic
The 2nd boss, Ibomez forces prisoners to go into a pool, spawning Flesh Atronachs (Who can take a decent amount of damage), as the prisoners advance towards the pool, poison sacks spawn and you can throw them at the prisoners.

My question is, do these sacks 1-hit kill the prisoners?

I just ran the dungeon for the first time and the experienced guy in the group was saying it was a DPS race after taking out the first 2 atronachs. We tried this method and just didn't have the DPS to take Ibomez down before being overrun by flesh atronachs. So we just ended up quitting after a few tries.

You need both dps doing about 20Kdps to do the straight burn method you mentioned. A simpler way, if you lack this dps is as follows:

Healer: runs around grabbing poison sacks and tries to take out the larger groups of prisoners. This will slow the rate that you get flesh atros.

Tank: Tanks boss and Atros near pool and tries to brop poison sacks on atros if possible.

1st Dps: Focuses DPS on boss. Swaps to AOE if more than 3 atros are up. Helps second DPS kill atros whenever the boss goes to the pool and starts taking half damage.

2nd Dps: primary job is keep poison on atros and single target dps them as they spawn. By killing them one at a time, you should be able to avoid them reaching the enrage timer. If there are no atros up, help dps boss.

This method can take a while, but if the healer is good at taking out all the large packs of mobs, and you have good communication on which atro to take down in which order, it should go pretty smooth after a few tries.

The group I run with usually, both dps do around 15K. Note that we usually run with a NB healer because the Hots from mutagen and funnel health give the healer time to focus on taking out mobs without having to worry about heal spamming non-stop!

If prisoners are hit correctly, it will 1hit kill them, yes. There is a certain radius when using the synergy, so make sure you aim it properly with your cursor!

From there, your experienced player is partially wrong.
There are 2 ways to killing Ibomez:

    1. Flat-out DPS race
This means you are nuking the boss to atleast 60% before he moves to the water. If you get him below 50%, you have a very good chance. From there, you kill 3 atronachs while he is at the water. Once he's done, you nuke him yet again to 0%.

    2. Mechanics-Run
This means you are actively using the mechanics to your favor as you do not have the DPS on your side. This itself requires coordination. The way it's usually done is that 2 and 2 players go together. The tank continues to tank the boss and atronachs while healer and both DDs throw bombs. One DD will focus more on the atronachs, but both DDs should do off-DPS on them so ranged DDs are preferred here.

There is no correct way to doing this and it's usually a *** even if you're in an experienced group. You often need to just wipe on it a few times before everyone gets what they need to do. If you've wiped 20 times, somethings obviously wrong and you should assess the weakest link of your group. (We all know that's always the healer, kappa)

    Best of luck!

I ran vICP today as a DD with a healer buddy and 2 other guys not as experienced as we, and we successfully did the burn tactic on our first try. It helps if you have your bars set up exclusively for single target. Focus the boss exclusively at the beginning until he runs down to the pond and gets a damage shield. At that time, debuff and kill the 2 atros that should have spawned (the 2nd one might only show up as the boss returns to the fight if your group is very fast, in that case you can ignore it). Refocus on the boss and ignore anything else (tank should keep agro on everything, though). Make sure you have an execute ability to speed up the last few % of boss health. It also helps if the healer and tank can take turns using war horn (the morphed one that gives +crit dmg) and DDs use hard-hitting ultimates while horn is up.

If you're not doing the burn tactic, you can either ignore the zombies and AoE the boss and atros (very resource intensive, and you need lots of AoE), or the healer and one DD bomb the zombies so there are no atros other than the very first one, while the tank and the other DD take on the boss (takes practice getting the zombie bombing right, makes for a longer fight but is safer for low DPS groups).
